*hi dig,
i think solms had some time to learn new skills.
i agree that he surprised me with the extent to which he had crossed the chasm into a corporate mindset.
but i think we are seeing hints that he may be adopting a military organisational model in a corporate setting. he is staffing the top reaches of the company with us military folks and giving them military titles like chief of staff.
perhaps this is going to become a patriotic venture. and that is the price of entry to the us government market.
i've worried for years that wave would become a quasi-government entity. sovereign interests conflict with my wish for privacy. us interests conflict with those of folks from overseas - even allies.
so a military mindset can be limiting if what you are hoping is that wave is part of a supranational, trustworthy, commercial architecture which balances the interests of states, individuals and enterprises.
my view is that this balance is the only commercially viable model.
just as us industry has discovered that serving the national interest can be damaging, wave is making its move in the direction of becoming, or seeming to become, a patriotic enterprise.
this isn't the road i was hoping to see wave go down. for many reasons. skillsets. appearances. etc.
