"I do think the SP spider 500 index is headed lower so i won't be buying that."You might be right. But picking highs and lows is the most difficult thing in investing. Buffett has said that he makes no effort to time the market. He certainly tried it during his early days.

Another thing is undeniable. Just about 100% of investors think the market is high and "due for a correction." That's usually damn bullish.

Also look at alternatives to stocks: Interest rates on alternative investments are low and they've plummeted this week. I've always had money in bonds, but they pay zilch these days. I have cash in Money Market funds that yield ZERO %.
