WJ Communications Releases Two More Wireless Infrastructure Converters;
Line of Low-Cost, High Performance Converters Broadens to Include UMTS/IMT2000
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jun 4, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- WJ Communications, Inc (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of high-performance RF semiconductors and multi-chip modules (MCM), today added two new dual-branch devices to its line of surface mount downconverter modules. The CV211-2 and CV211-3 are ideal for high dynamic range receiver front ends using diversity receive channels for current and next generation mobile infrastructure base station applications. The new CV's reduce design time, component count and board space, while allowing engineers to use one RF device instead of multiple discrete devices including driver amplifiers and passive mixers.
"Early on we recognized the need for more highly integrated RF components in small form factor packages," said Ron Buswell, Sr. Vice President of Product Line Management of WJ Communications. "The CV line of integrated converters offers engineers the high-performance of discrete devices but in a single, low-cost, surface mount package. The small size, high-performance and low price of these products translates into a compelling value proposition for our customers."
Technology Overview
The performance characteristics of WJ's expanding CV line of integrated converters enable engineers to meet a wide range of design requirements for various infrastructure communication applications. These new devices meet the growing demands of new wireless systems in Europe & Asia. The CV211-2 and CV211-3 target the UMTS and W-CDMA / IMT2000 bands. Each converter includes high-linearity, RF, frequency conversion, IF amplification and LO driver amplification in a 6 x 6 mm, 28-pin QFN package. Customized filtering can be enabled externally. These MCMs are realized with reliable and mature GaAs MESFET and InGaP HBT technologies.
