With respect to the military... Most military are paid well ($80K+/year). I agree they are taking on a huge role in our freedom and should be adequately paid and the military people I know are and have been (making $100+K/year with no living costs, etc.) and they will retire with a very nice pension a decade or two before the average person will be able to retire. They made the decision to defend the country and understand the risk/return of enlisting.

Heads Up Here<-- I DUNNO who the hell you know making that much in the Military, except for OFFICERS or LONG Term Lifers...

You are way OFF base here, and I guess will have to pull the facts UP for you when I have more time, there's a chart around w comparison on this board somewhere.

NOTE: YOU SURE DID NOT DISCUSS the PAY for CONGRESS and THEIR DAM PENSIONS for LIFE???
