First Wave counted on a subscription model for the commercial Internet. Instead an advertising model came to the forefront. Next Wave counted on centrally managed security in hardware at the edge of the network. Instead bring your own device came to the forefront. Now Wave is counting on reliable identity of edge devices. TBD. But the dream is less and less grand.



A guy who insisted all year long that the world would end on December 31 didn't become wrong on January 1. He was wrong all along.
