I think Linda Powers can't know the exact date of authorization for reimbursement of medical expenses by the statutory health insurance in Germany. The hospitals submit the applications. Applications for reimbursement must be submitted until October 31, 2014, for the following year (2015). If my guess is right, there will be no statutory regulation for a refund for the year 2014. But and this is important, this does not mean that hospitals can get no money for treatment.
As I understand it, the hospitals have the opportunity to negotiate direktly with health insurance companies. But further applications shall be lodged and this takes time.
In Germany there are several health insurance, some are private and some are required by law. On the Internet I could find three older patient reports in which it is mentioned, that teir private health insurance has paid immunotherapy. So far, the legal insurance companies have taken no cost for immunotherapy with dendric cells, but this will change.
Above all it is interesting that 10 hospitals have submitted applications, that means that they want to start the treatment with DCVax-L and that they have patients who want this treatment.
I think we need to be patient
