however, it is ironic that these socialist countries place a higher value on personal freedom than we do in the land of the free not to be.

Although I chuckled over Indy's response, I must ask - why are you surprised at this? Are you confusing socialism with a communist or dictatorship society perhaps? I would think that in a socialist society, drugs would not only be legal, but the government would ensure that every person had a joint in their hand! <G>
