Dognapping is a heartbreaking experience. I think it should
be easier and cheaper to have a chip implanted when a
puppy gets his puppy shots or first rabies shot. And police,
veterinarians and all shelters be required to have a scanner
that reads a unified code, and use it routinely so info can be
updated if addresses, phone numbers or ownership changes.
It would have to be federal law, I suppose, as state lines are
easy to cross. Sooner or later they will add a GPS feature
to those chips, so like my iPhone, I can look on my iPad and
see where the iPhone is. One time my phone fell out of my
coat at a gas station when I pumped gas at a station 20 miles
from my house. When I realized I lost it two hours later the
phone was moving and was in Hayt's Corners, halfway home.
That's where the guy lived who found my phone. He called me
right away and I went back and got it, nice guy and honest
but it could have been somebody crooked. Then I guess it
has a feature where the phone can be rendered useless.
I read that the creeps that are mugging people and stealing
phones are still doing it though. Street people and drug
addicts are always never going to get the word.
