my understanding was the agreement was forcing a drill to greater depth, which would mean the opposite of what you're saying:

The depth required to comply with the provisions of the Anadarko Farmout agreement has turned out to be deeper than the pre-drilling geo-prognosis suggested and drilling of the deeper part of the well has been challenging.

in any case, they've got further to go, and that means more opportunity to strike oil. i hope they hit a monster.
