Top Shelf or Victory Partners or the Judge could have cancelled the hearing. This applies to both criminal and civil. Now, I've signed in the Clerk of Courts office and it clearly shows cancellation, not continuance. Now, the continuance request could be filed and the judge didn't want to rule on it today. Normally, the party that believes it's behind the eight ball would ask for the continuance: Who is that? Now, in my experience when a party asks for a cancellation, it could normally mean settlement talks are taking place. Then here's the catch 22 reason to cancel, the party doesn't want anymore entered into the record that could cause future damage or exposure to themselves. Now, I don't know what happened, I wish I did. But, again my legal experience tell me, you always go with the party that has most to lose.
