but still, a customer would have to give up a lot (OTA sofware uptdates, services, possibly free retrofits) and for what? Well we don't even know. On top of that, I doubt Saleen can improve much on the P85+ other than the top speed, but even that would mean a big sacrifice on the battery cycle durability. A that means a big hit on resale value and that is very important for a weekend car.

German owners asked Musk last year to allow for higher top speed so they can utilize the last lane on the Autobahn and Musk said it was posssible simply through software since the powertrain wasn't the limiting factor, but he talked them out of it because he said it will have negative effects on the battery cycles and the ultimate battery pack longevity. ONe thing we know for sure is that Saleen will not change the battery pack on its so-called "Saleen Tesla Model S".
