Computer maker showcases two new laptops targeted towards engineers, artists and developers seeking a portable solution capable of running CAD, CAE, DCC, GIS and similar programs.

Dell last week unveiled two new high performance laptops which are targeted towards professional workstation users and make use of Intel Core Duo processors. The new Dell Precision M90 and Dell Precision M65 have starting prices of $2,239 and $1,849 respectively and are available now.

The Precision M90 and Precision M65, said Dell, sport a range of features designed to satisfy the needs of engineers, artists, developers and other like minded professionals. The M90’s feature set, depending upon configuration, can include up to 512MB of Nvidia Quadro FX OpenGL graphics, up to 4GB DDR2 memory, a 17” display with up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution and DVI/SVGA video outputs.

The M65, which weighs as light as 6.2 pounds, offers a 15.4” display, up to 512MB shared graphics Nvidia Quadro FX 350M TurboCache memory, up to 4GB DDR2 memory and TPM 1.2 support.

"This generation of mobile workstations reaffirms Dell's leadership in workstation design, reliability and performance and represents the combined efforts of Dell and its customers to develop best-in-class products," said Darrel Ward, director, Dell Precision Workstations, in a statement. "From the Dell Precision M90 with its 17-inch display and unprecedented graphics capabilities, to the mobility of the Dell Precision M65, Dell has enabled workstation users to be more productive than ever without sacrificing performance."
