"Yesterday Dell and Wave Systems announced the Dell Latitude D620 and Latitude D820 notebook computers will include the Trusted Platform Module chips for security, and Wave's Embassy software for security-policy management and strong authentication that support TPM.

The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chips are the outcome of standards development by the Trusted Computing Group, and it's a good sign when any computer comes out of the gate with TPM on it.

The Wave Systems Corp. software works with the TCG standard specification to provide strong authentication and data encryption.

Dell's Latitude notebook computers which weigh in at 4.4 - 5.6 pounds per laptop, carry a base price of $1,149, and are available now.
