They are taking the discharge of fly ash from a combustion process,the contaminants therein (small limestone and other silica impurities) would no doubt reduce the efficiency of the ERC.
This can be removed by either electrostatic precipitators,which use electricity,or bag house,which will not trap very fine particles,or cyclone seperation,like in the steam drum of a high pressure boiler.
While I am sure the existing plant already has equipment of this kind,I'm not sure if it would meet the specs of purity for MVTG's process and could raise the install price of any unit.
