sorry to post after i said i was gone; can't leave this talk about needing more taxes unchallenged-NONE of your taxes(nor ours in Canada) go toward ANYTHING that benefits the public(unless you believe more and more gov. and more bureaucracy serves the people better)-infrastructure has been crumbling north america-wide since WW2- gas taxes were supposed to pay for roads,bridges, etc. So where's the accountability for the money that has been collected up to this point? Where's the money gone? There are plenty of taxes in existence at present to more than fix all the bridge, roads, schools, etc. It has all gone to the military industrial complex and the banks. Whose owners are offshore and don't' give a damn for the state of any country's infrastructure. Carbon taxes would be just one more way to fleece the public; any proponents NEVER talk about who will get the carbon taxes; nor do they talk about how they will be imposed. It is a shell game by companies that don't pay taxes to begin with, allowing them to reduce the competitiveness of their competition while calling anyone against it an ecoterrorist. I like Mantra because if we ever do become sensible about the environment, and the supposed threat of CO2, mantra will still profit.
