Can World Surveillance Group dominate the future lighter than air drone market?
With many advancements and innovations to come down the pipeline in the field of sensors, cameras, pattern recognition software and telecommunication links, lighter than air drones can provide ultra low cost, highly efficient surveillance both to the military, as well as to government agencies. Lighter than air drones have several distinct advantages over drones powered by conventional aircraft engines, first of all they are very cheap to run and can stay airborne in fully operational mode for many hours. In addition to the low cost factor, they also are much more quiet, and can even be programmed to go into full radio silence mode, or even stay still in a fixed point in the sky in order to avoid detection from the ground.
World Surveillance Group Incorp (WSGI) does have the technological know-how and capabilities required to become a significant player in tomorrow's military, lighter than air drone market, which is bound to be quite interesting. On the domestic, civilian market, other newly formed companies such as Drone Aviation (DRNE) are also conducting R&D in similar fields, except that this company is involved in the tethered drone concept, which is a FAA regulatory requirement in order for the drone to be deployed over civilian airspace or in any airspace currently utilized by the civilian aviation industry.
