I don't think the official short interest numbers is the total short interest. As long as you "cover" your shorts before the number has to be reported the official short interest number is always low.

Why would you care? What's the problem with reporting your position?

Probably some MMs were caught with a little inventory when the suspension hit, but generally speaking they can cover that with no problem the first day or two after the stock reopens.

I believe people here have bought into a lot of misconceptions about short selling.
