Many patients with glaucoma, which can lead to vision loss and even blindness, take a variety of meds to lower their high intraocular pressure, which is a distinguishing feature of glaucoma, though not always present, in this condition. These meds are approved by the FDA to lower the intraocular pressure, not to prevent blindness although this is understood to be the obvious goal. If an expert panel were asked whether to vote on whether these several drugs lowered pressure, they would say yes. If asked whether they prevented blindness, there would be a lot of disagreement. Nevertheless, we have many drugs in use every day to lower eye pressure and "probably" prevent vision loss. The FDA has used a semantic, confusing question in the ADCOM to discourage the panel from approving VASCEPA
