Many patients with glaucoma, which can lead to vision loss and even blindness, take a variety of meds to lower their high intraocular pressure, which is a distinguishing feature of glaucoma,though not always present, in this condition. These meds are approved by the FDA to lower the intraocular pressure, not to prevent blindness although this is understood to be the obvious goal.
