The only thing the auditor can tell you is that they are the auditor of record because they are a publicly traded company. If they are private they can't even tell you that. Auditors sign confidentiality agreements upon being hired. Unless you are privy to the info, i.e. a bank the company is trying to get a loan from, they cannot tell you anything. Strict confidentiality until audit report is released, then they will refer you to public filings.
