As you may have noticed, the weekly "MJ License Applicants" listings do not have any approved Retailers, yet. Only approved producers and processors. The latest information from WA State Liquor Control Board states: "The agency has begun processing the retail applications. Licensing staff will continue to process producer, processor and retailer simultaneously...The agency expects to begin issuing retail licenses no later than the first week of July.
IMO, they are getting producers/processors approved first, to secure a systematic pipeline for the recreational retailers. Once the retailers are approved the sale of recreational MJ will occur.
Regarding the purchase of Suzie Q, please remember that this purchase--as noted in the 8-K docs--are for Suzie Q's NPO (non-profit organization) AND Puget Power. Suzie Q's is a medical MJ collective and Puget Power is the trade name for the Tier 1 license applications as a producer and processor (for profit businesses). Puget Power is the side of the business that will produce and process for the recreational side of the MJ sector.
It will be interesting to see if we retain Suzie Qs NPO for the medical MJ business or if PMCM focuses solely on the Puget Power side of the transaction. The Tier 1 licenses are for producing and processing for recreational MJ...therefore, we will not be producing for Suzie Q's NPO (based on how I read WA collectives are run). BTW, Suzie Q's is not listed on the Retailer listing, so they will remain medical MJ. Anyway, you cannot have a producer, processor AND retailer license. Since there are two sides of the MJ sector--medical & recreational--, it can get confusing when digesting the info. Feel free to share your opinions on this topic. IMHO...PMCM long!
