bilivit: You can promise anything but not deliver a penny. I think they do have cash on hand - they just would rather use the banks money instead of their own for financial reasons that are more favorable to them. The saying "don't use your own money if you can use someone else's" applies here. Also, they can just ask for larger financing to cover the $300MM double payment. I don't think the writer was pumping anything, just relaying information obtained from an interview with both the Russian investor and GTE. JMO ken w
