Got it! Bingo. The entity survived because in the unstated financial reports(i.e. 2007 to 2011,) the revenues were much higher and he was able to pay all the wages and save money for future lean years. This is why he has cash of 630k in the bank on 31 Dec 2013. Maybe he had planned to have his employees focused on R&D in 2012 and 2013, working on the requirements of potential big contracts? This big contract(s) is happening as I type.
