A representative of the Nicaraguan government travel to London to expose the canal project to British businessmen who are interested in it, appellant reported the UK ambassador to Nicaragua , Chris Campbell.

"I'm going to London to accompany Mr. Paul Oquist ( Secretary of Public Policy Chair) Nicaragua to promote British companies , we have a full program of meetings ," he told Efe the British ambassador .

The project, called " Grand Canal in Nicaragua " , aims to unite the Pacific Ocean with the Caribbean Sea via a wet path , with a dry road, a railway , pipeline two deepwater ports , two airports and free zones.

The investment channel could cost 40,000 million, according to government estimates of Nicaragua .

The 50-year concession , plus 50 extended , is held by the company's Chinese origin HKND Group , which aims to start construction in December and conclude in 2019.

Oquist expose the Nicaragua canal project for four days starting Monday , explained Campbell.

The diplomat stressed the expectation of British companies by the project, " if not interested then we would not have organized the program (from Oquist ) ," he said .

However, the UK interest to increase relations with Nicaragua goes beyond the canal project , he noted.

Campbell said he hopes that Nicaragua is represented by at least one investment promoter , in this case the state ProNicaragua in an international exhibition in London which serves to promote trade in Latin America.

"That's perfect, because in Britain many companies do not know Nicaragua that have not worked in this area before, but there is much interest ," he said .

Some of the industries that may be interested in Nicaragua belong to the oil sector, making notes and tax papers , said the ambassador.

Moreover, in the UK might be interested in food products such as coffee and shrimp , as well as the raw material.

According to Campbell, virtually 100 % of peanuts eaten in England is from Nicaragua , and sesame oil brand L' Oréal is a native of the province of León.

Nicaragua also be among the countries that promote British ambassadors in Central America in the second half of May, when exposed to the advantages of the region for investors northern UK, said the diplomat.

In 2013 , Nicaragua exported to UK $ 40.1 million and imported $ 18.9 million .

Trade relations between the two countries are still small , but have increased in the past two years , the ambassador stressed
