VKML Viking Minerals scenario;
We really won't know until an 8-K is filed (due 4 days ofter the event).

INDIE GROWERS ASSOCIATION (NV20141170294 Merge Dissolved) was merged into
INDIE GROWERS ASSOCIATION (NV20061012573).

I would speculate that it was "purchased" with newly issued IGA (NV20061012573) stock. How many shares and to whom?

Why would someone do this?
Often this is done to take a company public. It is often cheaper than a public offering. The merged into company (IGA 2006) would be a publicly traded company. The publicly traded company issues stock to the OWNERS of the new (IGA 2014) company in exchange for their shares in IGA 2014. Often the name is changed at this point , the old management bows out and the new company is on its way , with publicly traded stock.
Remember the OWNERS of the new company ( IGA 2014) got a bunch of stock and now probably run the company.
Here is where an 8-K is handy so you know what happened.

This can also be used to get stock into circulation. The person or persons
who got stock in exchange for the new company (that they may have just set Up, IGA 2014) could just start selling it.

docket number 20140179343-24

note that NVSOS show Document Number: 20140179343-24

Judging by the other document numbers present on the site, this looks like
a number assigned by the SOS to track paperwork.
The first 4 digits are obviously the year, then a sequence number (?) and then ???.
