$AA looking to move and hold above recent resistance at $17.48. Anyone holding this one? I'd like to see $20 in the (hopefully) near-term.
What is driving the ALXA pop? Any news out?
Any news driving this breakout?
This is an interesting article. I can think of a few industries that have close (maybe too close) interdependancy with Chinese interests, and I wonder what could be expected if major players over there turn out to be fraudulent.
AA will post results today. Anyone been following it and have a feeling on whether they will meet expectations?
Well said! I am also an infrequent poster, but Jim took the time to provide insight and wisdom to me, knowing I probably wouldn't have much to provide in return. His assistance in learning to trade options will be remembered. Could we all be as selfless, we would find our world a more enjoyable place. RIP, and thanks Jim.
Everyone who follow's this board (except Goose Liver) seems to enjoy these little humorous zingers. FWIW, I believe Zeev would have wanted Lee to allow this, as I am sure he understood the benefit of the friendships that can grow through a bit of good humor. Thanks Lee!
Anyone playing with AEO or AA lately?
If you ever wanted to walk into a conversation mid stream, this one's it. Pretty funny (and reminds me of a certain someone at home...)
;)
Tin, if you spend some time around people with terminal prostate or colon cancer, you'll quickly realize that they would be happy to get 4.1 months (on average, with some getting more than a year)extended life. This is before factoring the safety profile of the product, which has a significantly lower-impact side effect profile over other available treatments. Result: Live longer with less pain and suffering for $93K, or continue other less expensive (thought not much) treatment regimens with less hope and more pain.
So, IMHO, this product would be highly valuable to patients even at the $93K price tag.
Decent article out today from TheStreet.com (Adam Feuerstein) talking about what the CMS is trying to do, what the impact may be, and some historical perspective about this process as it relates to other cancer treatments.

How about CHTP, ALXA, GERN, ANX, ABIO, PGNX or QCOR?
Took gains on DNDN in the $50's, might be time to reload here. $49.30
DNDN - Brean Murphy bumps up price target to $65. Less than the (very optimistic) $100+ numbers that were being tossed around lately, but still a nice move, even for those buying in just before the approval.
The range of price targets I've heard on the various boards are interesting. Approval targets anywhere between $35 and $100, while non-approval targets anywhere between $5 and $32....
Scary... Though, they could probably sell that technology to China. Oh, wait....
And this probably lends to Lee's theory that the media will coddle and fluff the news over the weekend.
Keep in mind who is coming up with the strategy in the first place. It may be stupid, but it sounds exactly like what will happen.
My understanding is that we won't get any results today, only some insight into the methodology (or the rigging, if you will) of the stress test conduct.
Results are due for May 4.
taxman, can these both be shorted? (BGU/BGZ)
The same theory applies to FAS / FAZ and other combo's that run inverse of each other.
Look at the 6 month chart comparing both BGU/BGZ. Since November, while they have moved opposite, it was not a direct mirror opposite around the baseline. This is why BGU is down 50% since Nov, while BGZ is down 25%.
There is some mechanism (possibly operational fees associated with the products) that causes this. I am not sure exactly what it is, though. I just know that none of these are good long term portfolio additions.
Thanks! (I usually keep the ibox hidden...)
What are the two conferences?
If I am not mistaken, it was Fannie, Freddie, FHA / HUD back in the very early 90's (see Barney Frank) that pushed HARD to open the regulations to allow lower income (less able to repay) families and single individuals the ability to take out first and second mortgages.
Bush did not wake up one day and say "wow, let's find a way to steal money from regular saps trying to buy homes". (Although Kanye might disagree)
What I didn't see in the "Cramer Top Ten" (correct me if I'm wrong, cause it happens quite often!!!) is anything to address concerns of people who trade the FOREX, and are watching closely as the value of the USD erodes. We hear about concerns of high oil prices, inflation, and all we see is the Fed trying to bail out the stock market.
I have three worries about the Fed's recent actions: 1)The bailout of BS now puts us on the hook for any other financial institution that engages in poor business practices (per your item 6), 2) We will soon discover that BS was heavily involved with other banks and institutions that will now have to question their own balance sheets, causing a panic for their own shareholders, and 3) the continuing weakening of the USD through these rate cuts will cause individuals and institutions to become incredibly conservative with their investments (i.e. Gold, Silver, etc.), and they will pull significant $$$'s from areas like tech, pharma, and other more volitile areas on Wall Street. Snowball effect...
Just my thoughts, feel free to correct me!
Sounds like you were lucky to get a little chicken, instead of an eggy mess...
You thinking we see a pullback on the FOMC news?
I hear ya. Didn't play anything.
Lee, Tax, Barbara: Ym's skewed H&S here... Can't decide if still shortable. Thoughts?
Did you read that somewhere? Haven't seen this yet...
That's a shame for both your friend, and for the lender. The short sale should have allowed the lender to get back most of the loan amount, as well as avoid having the home on their books (as a foreclosure would result in the bank 'owning' the home).
Was he/she foreclosed?
The Dem Senator from Arkansas/New York/Chicago.... She grew up in the Chicago area, learning her tricks from the 'Daley Machine' just like BO.
Well, GLTU then!
I talk to people who used to be with NEOL. Theres not much left that is solid about that company. FWIW, I'm staying the hell away from it...
Straw Poll: Are we at the bottom yet? Reasons for yes or no?
Thanks!!!!!
Couple decent shorts today, eh?
You mean E*Shitz....
I show it up .33....?
