this is an ad that accused Kerry of being the reason why our soldiers are having to purchase flak jackets, armoring for their vehicles and other general protection?
that Kerry voted against it?
was or was not the bill passed?
was or was not the taxpayer assessed for these costs?
were or were not the soldiers sent to a battlezone without these necessary accouterments?
were or were not their vehicles unarmored at the direction of the commander in chief?
Is or is not the commander in chief responsible for the unarmored vehicles and unprotected soldiers?
how in the world can Bush make an accusation against one senator of one hundred for the responsibility of the commander in chief's dereliction of duty? he is the one who is sending ito Iraq military units which are supposed to be in this country, and worse yet, without the rudimentary protection they desperately need.
how many more roadside attractions will it take for the commander in chief to demand that ALL vehicles patrolling there will be armored?
why are our soldiers buying their own bulletproof vests?
It is past difficult for me to understand how any partisan of any political stripe can possibly support such an incompetent and dangerous man.
are you saying , then, that the bill did NOT pass (the 87 billion dollar bill) and we are winging it in Iraq ?
and Kerry is responsible for this fiasco after all?
holy horsepuckey!
just a side note to the theological diversity here.
i am interested in the christian theology, having been brought up catholic.
i, too, am agnostic, and curious after trying to understand how the dogma derived from the life of jesus to the present new testament.
the church consolidated power and core beliefs over the first few hundred years, by crushing alternate or dissident groups within the church (ie, the gnostic groups).
it is pretty much an evolved political hierarchy, as any such organization that consolidated temporal power would be.
and there is no room for alternate viewpoints, or for spiritual diversity.
something that to me does not seem to be what the spritual founder ever intended. indeed, it is questionable that jesus intended anything at all in the form of what eventually evolved.
these are my musings.
the easy dogmatism of so many followers of jesus surely would make anyone wonder...
i wholeheartedly concur.
these are issues that have to see the light of day and should be honestly debated by all.
we may not sway each other's beliefs, but we should be able to respect each other's beliefs.
we should be able to agree to disagree.
and bring it on - at the voting booth.
sometimes, the passions of all are aroused beyond the ability to be civil and fair and open. what we do then, is when we display our character the most.
amen.
i admit my intentions with the post were more than pontificating and using the lords name in vain.
i just wanted to make a point about how easy it is to be hypocritical without even realizing it.
especially with ad hominem arguments.
I enjoy reading your posts, tornado.
or i should say, i am glad you take the time to post what you do, so that the light might shine where it can.
nothing like a little disinfecting solar ray to help heal the wounds.
I've had a feeling today, that the entire line taken by the present administration over the last three years is far from random.
there is a method to their madness.
how this great nation is a beaten down debtor, which feeds a huge military industrial complex with ever increasing deficits, and all social and other infrastructure funding gets cut fo allow this to happen for a little longer.
it seems so short sighted, and self destructive.
Is A. Greenspan engaged in some type of subterfuge against the administration: speaking today about the need to reduce SS benefits and raise the retirement age?
is he sabotaging the administration? or is he an honest broker, believing that the only way that this nation can avoid catastrophic failure is to continue with tax cuts, and cut more spending?
of course, the MIComplex would be exempt from cuts: after all the endless war on terror is just getting in gear, after the boost it has given terrorists following the Iraq adventure.
in spite of all of this political upheaval, too many citizens remain unaware and uncaring.
It will take much more prodding to awaken the consciences of individual reporters working at the megamediaplexes to step up and dish out the real news.
or maybe the golden age is over?
rooster...an old saying.
people in glass houses should refrain from casting the first stone.
believe that jesus talked about casting stones as well.
George is not a shining example of someone coming up through the ranks, as it were...
what you really should do, is to marshall your thoughts, and present them in some coherent form, so that others can see that you are a rational, compassionate human being, with all of the graces of a believing christian. or buddhist. or shintoist. or hindu. or muslim.
this is true. about Afghanistan.
about kabul. and no doubt the country will be left to the control of the warlords who are now in charge of one of the largest opium producing regions in the world...
Oh, i believe Osama will be caught, and be made to pay.
but the payments will continue to be made by all of us in the 'free' and 'democratic' 'beacon' to the world.
and if conspiracy theories do not interest you, you probably don't really want to know why we went to war with Iraq to begin with.
No, Nader is not an issue in a sense.
he has always only been the jiminy cricket of our body politic, but we will have nothing to do with those who speak the truth. we much prefer slogans and short shouts.
after years of conditioning by madison avenue. think about it: where do these politicians spend their huge war chests? with madison avenue.
the "hunt for osama" tv special has begun.
i suspect that we have known where he is for quite some time and the bin laden dude will be trotted out [dead or alive] in time for the election to show that the 'war president' is on the job.
man, i am getting cynical...
even believe that nader's run is funded by the RNC to reeelect.
not that i disbelieve the message nader has, just the timing.
hard to get excited about Kerry.
or edwards.
but i AM excited about the possibility of regime change at home.
wow!
that was a great article.
I am not a buchananite, but i must agree with many of his major points, and the complete unveiling of Frum, and Perle.
thanks for posting it.
i feel that we are backing off of the brink of the abyss we were standing on a very short time ago.
I feel that Governor Dean did for the media to an extent what he did for the democrats: give them some spine.
even now, for what seems to be the first time, reporters are asking questions, and demanding answers. more articles in mainstream publications are examining the policies that are being deployed. this seems to be lifting the veil of darkness that seems to have covered the land in recent years.
On these big questions, there must be big debates and long conversations.
Found this board because I had bookmarked you on another board.
I find your posts to be thought provoking and certainly interesting enough to research further.
my lack of time, however, lets me just see your pewrspectives on the news items, obscure as they are.
I appreciate your putting them on public display on this board.
thanks
that is SOOOOO cute!!
this must be the line from the RNC talking points for Dubja's debate strategeries.
Thanks, Dave.
that was not only an interesting and revealing story, but quite the morality play as well.
appreciate your input.
so your cynical response is that we have no intelligence.
If the White House presents faulty intelligence (presumably provided by the professional intelligence agency), whom are the senate and house intelligence committees supposed to diligently question?
If the WH provided testimony to those committees from its own intelligence sources, where does the fault lie?
in other words, will intelligence committees question somebody, or will they be looking at source material?
If somebody told me something, and i was interested in the verity, would i not ask them how they know this to be true to the best of their knowledge?
I have watched many committee proceedings on cspan, and pretty much all i have seen is the testimony from individuals to those committees.
the committees must decide if the testimony is believable or not.
but somebody analyzes raw information and condenses it into testimony. who did that for whom?
all we really know from where i sit, is that some facts presented by the president, the vice president, and the WH spokeperson, were found to be factually false, and known to be false prior to the dissemination of that information to the public.
was that same process, in fact, what happened in committee hearings?
not to bust yer chops, bull.
Vaclav Havel was the Checkoslovak leader, not Polish.
i am just trying to get the picture of how the intelligence was supplied.
was it a presentation like the Powell UN presentation?
in other words, the sayso of a credible spokesperson?
or was it from the CIA?
or was it from Condoleeza's group?
i just do not have a clear understanding of the process. after all, it was not something anyone was willing to share with the hoi polloi.
in general, about the resolution to wage war against iraq:
it is my distinct impression that the senate and house, which overwhelmingly voted for the resolution, were persuaded that the intel was sufficiently damning.
was it the Powell UN powerpoint presentation that persuaded them?
was it something else?
few of the persuadees have spoken out after the fact about the intelligence presented to them, although some, like Sen Byrd, have.
does anyone have any comments about this?
as to global warming, should we not try to be good stewards of this planet, our lifeboat earth, our speck in the universe, home to the teeming billions, who really and truly have NO other home: and try to do what is best for all, rather than waiting to see if greed and self interest will shake out as the best of all worlds?
Rooster,
I don't know you, how you think, or what you know.
but based on your reportage on this board, it seems fairly clear that you are not predisposed to analysis, or due diligence.
I am amazed at the turns this political debate has taken in this country. Conservatives have always been striving for less government, less interference in individual rights. now it is all about huge government bureaucracies, corporate welfare such as has never been seen before, an meddling in EVERYONE's affairs: individuals, allied govenments, trading partners.
i have always believed that this is the greatest country in the world - where freedom of expression is tolerated - as opposed to some tin horn dictatorship where control from the top is brutal, heavy handed, and completely self-interested.
amazing what terror can do to such a powerful a country as ours.
critics who point to the fact that this country has not had wars brought to these shores, consequently do not understand what war implies.
and pity the veteran in this country, where endless lip service to their sacrifice in defending us...but cut, cut, cut programs for veterans.
it is appalling.
a "Christian" nation that sytematically rejects the teachings of Christ.
Christians more interested in their own welfare than the welfare of the "least of our bretheren"... at least let us be honest about what and who we really are.
F6
i just wanted to send a note of thanks for your very clear expositions on global warming and the separation of church and state.
Bravo!
It does my heart good to read your posts.
I'm not sure of the provenance of this post, but I believe that this is something that should be looked at very carefully. in view of the fact that Dean's money seems to be gone...
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=2254527
Joe Trippi may have been the problem.
I surely hope that Dean can pull off a comeback; though not the perfect candidate, he is the only one i can support with a clear conscience.
we should take a moment to remember, too, those injured soldiers form the iraqi front, who number in the unknown thousands.
<I believe we know where Bin-Laden is and are watching him to try to gather intellegence on the whole network. I think the war is being fought more behind the scenes and not in Iraq, and that is where we need tough REAL men like Cheney, Rummy, and W. in charge! There will be plenty of time for a domestic policy in his next term.>
no doubt in time for the next election, Osama, or some other course, will be served up, dead or alive.
we need "tough REAL men like Cheney, Rummy and W." riding humvees and bradlees putting their own lives on the line in iraq.
and we have had plenty of domestic policy thus far...
Jim.
i thought i made it very clear.
my opinion, that is.
and i made it clear, that i do NOT know what burdens you carry for this board.
you seem to need to get it off your chest, too.
this is not a burden one person may carry alone.
for long.
I believe that we ALL contribute something to this forum, and the intangibles of those contributions to some are all too easily put aside.
as blunt and undiplomatic as TC is, i am not offended by his posts.
yet there are some individuals who post regularly, and excessively, that really seem to yank my chain.
so what? we have the ignore option, and as responsible adults, we should have the wisdom to use a tool such as that.
i say, let it go.
and after all, this IS the coffee shop!
espresso, anyone?
Bulldzr
I am on this board to express my opinion.
avoiding the investment board.
I respect what Jim has done with his following, and in no way wish to detract from what he has in fact accomplished.
I have received much from this group in terms of being helped through some very confusing and difficult times in this investment.
that being said, i also recognise that no human is perfect, and what sophist says is basically true: we are all adults here. why not have a chance to openly discuss the structure of the forum itself?
If we cannot evolve, we will eventually wither and die.
I don't know the burdens that Jim is carrying: so i cannot speak to them.
I get to read the board at the end of the day, after all is said and done, so my commentary is often belated, somehow off the mark if continued ex post facto.
and the spectrum of opinion here comes with its own colors, some very interesting analysis, research, and commentary, all carrying flavoring of the writer (or is it speaker?).
in other words, individuals with individual styles, agendas, interests, all in some way focused more or less on this IDCC.
some, no doubt, more annoying than others.
As much as I respect Jim, i disagree with his stance regarding rumor mongering.
at least in a general way.
this is not a major hill to climb for me, i just wish that somehow we were all adult enough to set out own limits, and carry on the good work. not having to burden our proctor further ..
And, Bull, thanks for the civil tongue in your head. others have said more eloquently what a great value you have here...
and i agree with them.
mostly lurking, and sometimes wanting to smack Spree upside his noggin.
with all due respect
migo
It needs saying:
Sophists posts are clear, concise and accurate.
Spree's posts are annoying, rattling and ingratiating.
I don't see Art's posts.
I strongly support the position staked out by Sophist, and find that the petty and tortured rationalizations by the board chief are over the top.
i see many more personal attacks left to lie like strewn garbage, than these demonic "rumors" so many seem frightened of.
selective enforcement of the rules.
in my humble opinion.
To Rmarchma: I finally have found some time to respond to your post (have been rather busy with other concerns lately).
My post# 42701 was a direct response...
Sophist: bravo!
this was an excellent exposition of what I understand to be the "facts".
thank you for taking the time to put some things into the proper perspective. again, BRAVO!

"last man standing"
mschere,
i believe that your understanding of the gestalt of this company will allow you to be one of the few remaining individual investors from the old days.
even stubborn old timers who have developed habits of hanging in there may yet fall.
certainly those with weakened grips will let go sooner than later.
thanks for the amazing amount of quality information and for your opinions of it. I enjoy and appreciate your work.
and it is a huge puzzle, many parts of which we are unable to see at all.
i, too, am of the opinion that we are not being deceived nor misled.
time will tell, and this company's growth is well within my projection of five years to fruition from November of 1999.
good fortune to those with good intention.
just saw the aapl board here in the Investorshub... and this is the news (if you haven't seen it yet) of the century: so sad...
Reuters
Microsoft wins Homeland Security contract
Tuesday July 15, 5:26 pm ET
WASHINGTON, July 15 (Reuters) - The Department of Homeland Security said on Tuesday it has awarded a five-year, $90 million enterprise agreement to Microsoft Corp (NasdaqNM:MSFT - News) to become the department's primary technology provider.
Under the contract, Microsoft will supply desktop and server software to the the newly created department, which has merged parts of 22 different agencies into one entity.
The agreement delivers licensing coverage for about 140,000 desktops and will help the department to establish a common computing environment, Homeland Security said in a statement.
Dell Marketing LP. was selected as the reseller, to provide the day-to-day management of the enterprise agreement, it said.
AN AMAZING COINCIDENCE!
Finally, after a monumental struggle to build credibility and strength in the market community, IDCC begins to emerge.
the outlines are still somewhat ill defined, bit the shape is unmistakeable...this company is destined to be a titan in the industry, and perhaps in all industries.
at its base, the shareholder ants scurry about praising or hurling invectives.
Spiro Agnew called his critics "nattering nabobs of negativity"...
he had his moments of political alliteration.
what is really hard to understand is the bitterness toward the management of IDCC and the lack of recognition for the very real accomplishments made.
though we place everything under the microscope of shareholder value, that itself depends on your horizon.
and accusations against BSW as a paid shill in the company of the likes of Onceuponatime...well, that is past understanding.
if you do not comprehend the thrust of his thesis, move on, move on.
I find this...amusing.
gotta say this.
i follow several other message boards on Lycos (old RB).
that has become one exercise in frustration at times. the page turning is agonizingly slow, and i cannot always access my board without all sorts of shenanigans...
Ihub rules. really.
Furthermore, i would like to take this opportunity again to congratulate those who have faith in this stock and this company: it is becoming clearer every passing day that we are on the right track.
best of luck to all.

PS Bulldzr. you are the man. thanks for remembering me. it feels good to be remembered. and i was born on Easter, too, in 1948. don't think my birthday ever fell on Easter again, yet.
but i've been lucky ever since.
hear! hear!

thanks for the succinct and accurate assessment of the accomplishments of management.
I, too, am a supporter of, and believer in, management.
we will prevail
and we will succeed riding the coattails of this management group.

bulldzr
thanks for the civil and civic tongue in your head.
I really appreciate that you do not grind your axes against all who disagree with you.
I agree with your remarks, and sophist's, and imalurker's.
while we are here to discuss IDCC, the world swirls around us, and affects our lives and investments in every way.
yet, when tolerance of dissenting opinion falls away, it exposes a rather ugly side of our society: one that no longer feels bound by the rule of law.
It is perhaps better to never let this cold wind into our houses; to never discuss the world's events here, but this investment is not formed and held in a vacuum, so discuss we will despite the strongest wills to avoid it.
and when we do discuss these events, how much better it is to respect another's opinions and views, as adults, and as citizens of both this nation and of our own lifeboat earth...
knowing nothing of the edig debate, your posturing on this board clearly exposes your type to me.
It is a pathological condition known as sociopathy.
this is why you cannot figure out how to get along with others.
no known cure.
therapy and counseling seldom help.
eventually you will wither and die.
not many will miss you.
think about the implications...
biologically.
bob, just a note to tell you that the post # window is too small for the actual number to be completely seen.
picky, picky, picky...

Danny.
Thanks for the kind words.

this is a copy of the email I just sent to the board's support and Jim:
"I would like to elevate Jim Lurgio to chairman
Migo
Jim,
Do whatever you deem responsible to the I-board etc.
It is my belief that this is in all actuality your board, and I do not have the time, nor resources, to manage it effectively.
If there is any way in which I may be of help, please let me know.
migo"
my 15 minutes of fame [more like 3 min] was when Jim decided to migrate the RB board to IH where I had tried to start a board a year ago.
It was more of a place where I could gather my thoughts about IDCC after reading thousands of analytic posts on RB and articles from many other sources.
So many of you do so much of a better job of it than I will ever do, and I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank this community for what I consider an extraordinary sharing of information and thoughts.
While the driving force for this entire enterprise may be greed, the expression that the enterprise evokes is anything but that.
I hope to be soon congratulating all long term investors for their perspicacity, their patience, and above all, their generosity.

this board description is totally MY responsibility insofar as accuracy and content.
This is what I wrote when i started the board.
Just an opinion, and it may not contain all of the known facts.
Glad to have such an amiable group here to help discuss the pros and cons of owning the stock.

a question about navigation...
when i view posts one at a time, and leave the board to come back later, i will find the number of unread posts correct.
when i change to another board the unread messages in my favorites shows only new mwessages since i left.
and the list is still accurate. but when i scroll ten at a time, it does not show those messages i read in that mode [by changing the color of the post in the list}

yes, i'm afarid it is for paying subscribers.
I, myself, have only decided on the "paying" subscriber mode here when you all came...
never imagined that it would be "my" board you would migrate to.
soon as they process my payment, i will be a premier subscriber.
It sure looks like at least we will have real people to get a hold of when there are problems here.
and it is with some sadness we leave RB, though it has been lycos for a while..I really liked the RAGING BULL during the bull market.
