TL;DR: Mods if you want this board moved to free zone, let us know.
As you all know, we're trying our best to clean up stock boards while allowing more ebb and flow of natural dialog without the trolling and bickering. One of the things that we've always known derails stock boards, creates havoc and leads to deletions on stock specific boards is political discussion. Sadly, what people consider "political" these days is far reaching and weirdly triggering. So we've decided to allow political boards outside of the Premium zone (i.e. subscribers only). We are leaving all current boards in the Political category as Premium for those Mods that want to be able to ban or restrict members. Otherwise, if as a Mod, you'd like to open your board to a wider audience, just reply to this with an @IH Admin [Meghan] (former) or @IH Admin [Shelly] indicator or send us a PM.
Alternatively, anyone who has any interest in setting up your own board focused on politics, open to all Members, you can find a new free category here: https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/boards.aspx?cat_id=308. From that link, you can simply click Create a New Board" and use the drop down menu (yes, it's long and clunky!) to [Free] Free Zone - Politics.

So, if you get a speeding ticket, the "lesson" you take from that is "well, I better stop driving"?
The point wasn't that you were supposed to stop posting...the point was that you were supposed to stop posting about other members. You were supposed to be focusing on the company/stock. Then when you did post, it was to do the very same thing.
Yeah, a lot of people assume any action Admin takes actually has nothing do with them and the way they choose to conduct themselves. Those actions by Admin must be a result of some nefarious "agenda".
In reality, Admin doesn't have the time or inclination (these days more than ever) to get involved in the drama at a board level. "Favorite" members = people that we don't even know their name because they come to the site, participate and we neverhear anything about them. "Protected" members - that's just asinine. We may give someone who has never been or rarely the cause or center of drama, we don't regularly see them on the TOS report or get PMs from or about them - a "good citizen" as we call them - 2 warnings instead of 1 simply because it's uncharacteristic behavior. But if they go beyond that they end up with the same sanctions/repercussions as anyone else.
But, people believe what they want to believe and choose to decide it's someone's else's issues instead of at their own hand. That's the reality of being an Admin so it is what it is.
A lot of you have been suspended the last few days because you have not been heeding the warnings you've been given. Many of you were invited to take your personal drama to the Middle School Playground board.
The point was that sure some jabs and bickering is to be expected on stock boards. BUT, when that's all someone is doing it just clutters the boards with nonsense. You want to fight with someone? Fine take it to MSP. Do not do it on the stock boards.
Those of you that were suspended for these reasons, can let Meghan or I know that you understand what we've been telling you and will commit to talking about the stock/company on the stock specific boards. If you don't have a long history of failing to heed previous Admin warnings, then it's very likely we'll release the suspension. This was meant to be a "wake-up" call to many of you. If it worked, then all is well and we're happy to have you back on the boards.
No, you were also suspended because your focus was not the company/stock, all you were seemingly doing is trying to settle or highly some sort of beef. You were told to take your bickering to the appropriate board and didn't heed the warning. That's why you were suspended.
No, you were suspended because no one wants to hear you or anyone else bickering. You were warned by Admin to take the argument to the appropriate board and you chose not to.
No. The exception is if the information is actually "private" or not. A lot of people disclose private information about themselves publicly on this site and then want to claim it's a "violation of privacy" if someone else posts it. It's not.
If that's not the case, you're welcome to send me a PM to discuss.
Admin rarely get involved in general trading boards. We only step in if crosses some of the lines (racist, extreme vulgarity, etc.). That's something members need to take up with the board Moderators of that board.
Edit: So, yes, in regards to your original question. Messages reported on these kinds of boards, unless extreme, are generally not something Admin gets involved in.
Too many people were missing them because they let PMs accumulate in their inbox. So we temporarily moved it to the top so that people would see it. Eventually it's going to "live" somewhere else, but until that's created (and since it's a new feature) we moved so that people would see that they had them.
"Posting private information is now acceptable" - huh? What gives you that idea?
Not true...if someone is making it personal i.e. talking about someone's family, their mental health, their age, their sexual preference, etc. - those for sure should be reported.
"Stupid" isn't considered "offensive language". Check Merriam to see what I mean. The two words cited in the rules are labeled "offensive" when used in certain ways by most dictionaries.
Edit: But there are others - not limited to those two. For example, years ago I was playing on Scrabble online. I wasn't allowed to play a word that I had zero clue was now considered offensive. "Squaw" I looked it up to see why it was disallowed and found that it wasn't a word that should be used any longer. Other than Scrabble, I cannot imagine another time that word would occur to me to use, so surprising but not life changing. lol
Lol - again...comparing apples to oranges!!! Being a social media Admin does not really make you any sort of expert on different business models when your focus is enforcing the rules. We are not analysts or armchair quarterbacks even when it comes to the company's discussed here. Our focus is keeping politics, etc. off of stock specific boards.
You find it morally reprehensible...ok. Opinion noted.
There's nothing suggesting that those that don't want to participate "have to" in anyway.
As to my motives, lol, you or anyone else can conjure up whatever scenario you want and run with it. No skin off my nose either way.
Finding two completely different models distasteful is once again not comparing apples to oranges. They can both be "tawdry" to you but that doesn't make them the same thing.
In any event, cool with us that you don't want to participate. It's out there for anyone that does.
@meghan test
Edit: Nvm, your response or theory is just asinine. I just googled it because I had a very vague understanding of the whole concept. I can confidently say, you're just flat out wrong. There is no bottom tier, there is no buy-in, there is no contributing to anyone else's efforts.
Did you read how the Drive is structured? Or is it your mission to just throw out random crap that you dream up about anything iHub does? Is your goal simply trolling iHub now?
https://www.forbes.com/advisor/investing/multi-level-marketing-mlm/
Original: I have no idea how you came up with that. Isn't the basis of most MLM or Pyramid schemes that you have to "buy" into them?
Recommendations or steps on how to do that might be really helpful to others that like the idea but aren't sure where to start. :)
@Lime Time QR code - very cool! Hope you make lots of cash! :)
Ah, years ago I think I "met" SI Ron here on iHub. Interesting he's still around.
Wow, I had no idea that was still around. Who owns/runs it these days? Any idea?
There was a glitch over the weekend. Logout and then clear your ADVFN cookies. If that doesn't resolve the issue, please let us know here.
Woot! Glad to hear it solved everything. :)
Have a great day as well!
Maybe "creating" was the wrong choice of words. "Offering" I guess would've been better.
I'll let @IH Geek [Tom] respond regarding the first issue.
In regard to not being able to get to boards. There was some sort of glitch this weekend and that happened to a lot of people. Try logging out then clearing your ADVFN cookies. Then see if it works and let us know if that doesn't solve it.
That's been tried before at SI and it proved to be unsuccessful.
I disagree, we are trying to find the balance of new, old and innovative. Are there going to be similarities to other platforms and features? Of course. We're striving for that middle ground that makes sense for iHub.
Lol - I've maybe accessed iHub from my phone a handful of times over the years other than testing something new coming out. I work from my laptop.
The site has been incrementally updated for years without asking for User's approval or guidance. Members have always been welcomed and encouraged to offer constructive feedback here or on Site Suggestions.
In general, I've never noticed that other website routinely offer "Classic" versions of previous practices. I've seen some that do, but in my experience, that doesn't seem to be an industry practice or even very common. But, hey, freely admit I could be wrong here.
There has still been zero discussion about eliminating Classic View for board reads.
I don't believe anything was ever said that indicated any further updates or modernization of the site would also have a classic version available. Nevertheless, I know that based on the feedback received there was some discussion about implementing a Classic view for this feature as well. However, it being a holiday weekend, I'm not sure how far that discussion went.
There is currently no Classic View for Latest Posts. At the suggestion of members like yourself, I know there has been some discussion about creating that but I'm not sure where that stands at the moment. @IH Geek [Chuck] @IH Geek [Tom] may have some insights.
