Wow, are you short Marvell now Lakers? Marvell appears to be in a great spot by getting I to controller chips for solid state drives. The cheaper the netbooks get the more storage drives will be and the more opportunity for Marvell. Since it can take it's core technology and turn them into anything, whether it be a smartphone processor, wifi bluetooth chip, solid or disc drove controller, or nas device, all will be running on a sheeva processor. The bigger the volume the cheaper the chips, great for high volume customer like Rimm, Intel, and Western Digital.
Marvell's wifi is still in the 3g version of the iPhone and will be sold to to non-exclusive carriers in the UK! Expect to see deals like this world wide and the iPhone 3g will sell very well, making Marvell investors very happy!!

This also explains how Marvell will make a killin' with the number of hard drive that will be sold to the Chinese venture.
Not berry smart.
Marvell make the controllers chips for Intel's SSD's.
http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/29/intel-launching-cheaper-ssds-with-up-to-320gb-capacity-soon/
Google buys the Intel SSD's which should benefit Marvell.

Marvell has the ultra mobile netbooks and ultra thin mini laptops all to themselves with it's partnership with Toshiba. Which also makes the classic iPod hard drives and Macbook Airs with got way cheaper.

Marvell has been moving up at a blistering pace. It is irresponsible for any analyst to downgrade a stock after it comes out and says there's 20% percent upside. Marvell has never guided up in it's history. that's saying something. To say a stock is up 72% is ignoring how much higher the stock was last year. This is one of the stupidest downgrades I have ever witnessed.
So they can steal weak handed shares under 13.
Your forgetting that Marvell will get the majority of the iPhone business with the iPhone 3g being only 99.00, short. hahaha
How much do you think the wifi chip sells for anyway? Try 2 bucks compared to 30 for Tavor processor in Blackberry bold. So Iphone bizz was peanuts.
That's crazy, Marvell's achilles heel was that it didn't invest much time developing it's Bluetooth technologies. They investing alot of there resources for wifi and not in the laptop space but in the mobile device space. They scored a huge win in the Sony Psp. But Bluetooth became a huge factor and took off faster than wifi in mobile smartphones. Broadcom bought alot of Bluetooth companies and was able to get in the martket place. Then they integrated Bluetooth, Wifi, and Fm faster than Marvell has done.
But Marvell has developed these same chips but will be coming out in the next year or so, Marvell has alot of room to run.
To alot of folks surprise they are not in the new iPhone. but the bigger and better surprise was that it raised guidance 20%. Analyst and shorts will not be able to knock down off that minor news.
Huge Marvell news. Congrats Marvell longs. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Marvell-Technology-Updates-prnews-3374026166.html?x=0&.v=1
The Blackberry Bold is Marvell's baby and it is continuing to get recognition for out performing the iPhone in data transfers. http://www.tectrends.com/cgi/showan?an=00174015
Everyone wants to play, but everyone also wanted to make controller chips for hard drives but how did that work for everybody? Marvell certainly is putting resources behind wireless chip sector to dominate that market also. It's all about price and integration and they do it the best my friend.
If you did your due diligence you would have listened carefully to Marvell's conference call. Where they raised guidance on their wireless revenues by over 25 percent something they couldn't do if they had lost the iPhone design. The Ceo made a slight dig on Broadcom's wifi Bluetoottlh fm chip. Basically he said that alot of hype has been generated over the Broadcom chip but it hasn't taken away any major design wins in the smartphone market as been rumored by Cramer and Broadcom bulls. With the increase in stock price today it's safe to say everyone else have been put on notice also.
Great news Marvell investors, Marvell has the combination Wifi-Bluetooth design win in the Palm Pre!! That plus the doing the iPhone wifi should indeed increase wireless revenues over 25% as they said in last months conference call.

Apparently it does matter, considering Marvell is outperforming chips.
Marvell will have a tremendous quarter in shipping it's wireless chips inside the new iPhone and the sexy new Psp Go!
Looks like Marvell has retained the wifi slot for the next iPhone coming out in July, listening to the call. They mentioned that they didn't lose any designs to multi-radio embedded wifi chips!!!!
The secret to Marvell's success.

I see Intel like things for Marvell in the future. This explains why we seen the investment community rally around Marvell of late.
http://www.technewsworld.com/story/mobile-tech/67027.html?wlc=1242086278
I think this explains Marvell run up over the last few weeks.
http://www.reuters.com/article/gwmInnovationAndDesign/idUS307503209920090506
Great article about how Marvell is creating it's own future, and does not have to rely on the PC for future growth. All it takes is one of these products to do well and it's off to the races for another round of revenue growth.

Getting out of bed on the morning is a gamble. But expections are very low and there's money to be made in technology.
Welcome to the world of investing in public companies where the founder owns 20 percent of company. Should have dca under 10.
I have a stake in this company because of Sehat and family has a huge stake in business. They are doing everything aggressly to get stock price up, including laying off folks.
Marvell said there margins will be over 50 percent while Atheros and Broadcom has tumbled under 50 percent. Marvell is doing tremendous in margins in this competetive market.
Who cares.
There are many Marvell technologies that get me excited. But what if Marvell could bring it's Qdeo tech to smartphones. Instead of sucking down bandwidth Qdeo could magicly take low bandwidth data and turn it into something high def looking which could make couriers network run more efficiently and make them alot of money.
Lakers what do you think of the PXA168 rumors that Apple is buying these chips? Do you think it will be for a new iPhone or a netbook device?
Marvell is a very unique company. They have cutting edge products on the bleeding edge. There chips were introduced in some of the hottest gadgets in tech, first the PSP, Ps3, Xbox360, iPods and iPhones.
But it would be a serious milestone if it's PXA 186 chip became the brains of the next generation iPhone. I'm not selling my shares now.
Any new news on Marvell, it's been a great producer of late. I think they will get recognition after the dedicated fab they financed for the Univesity of Cal. Berk.
Sehat is the founder much like Steve Jobs is the founder of Apple. They owned alot of the company and are entitled to stock options. Investing in Marvell is an investment in Sehat and the engineers he attracts from the Asian community all over the world.
Marvell low on revenues but remarkably they have preserved gross margins of over 50 percent. They are in a great position when things rebound.
What is compelling about the Sheeva Plug, anybody know?
How does this link show the Kindle 2 sporting the Marvell cpu. Here's my link,
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/02/25/kindle-2-teardown-reveals-some-surprising-surprises/
It's now a Freescale.
Marvell loses the Kindle 2 business to Freescale. Looks like Marvell is. Concentrating on Sheeva platform and leaving the low hanging fruit to Freescale.
Nokia uses a bunch of chipmakers. This is just PR. Nokia is huge!!
Lakers, do you know if Marvell is making the Cpu for the Samsung Omnia HD? I know Marvell is in the regular Omnia.
