RIAA consumer control BioDiscs
http://www.agoravox.com/article.php3?id_article=7563
Following decisions by the members of the Big 4 organised music cartel, Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG, to partially abandon DRM, the RIAA is developing a biometric CD to replace Digital Restrictions Management consumer control.
Using technology developed by The Amergence Group, aka SunnComm International, the radically new BioCDs will have thumbprint receptors positioned in their centres.
“The first time a consumer purchases a BioCD, he or she will be required to sign a licensing agreement and to register his or her thumbprint, which will then be permanently stored in a special database linked directly to the FBI’s integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, more commonly known as IAFIS,” explains RIAA spokeswoman Sarah Cluckworth, going on:
“The cool new legal BioCDs will serve a dual purpose.
“Everyone loves music and they will enable the FBI to possibly identify and apprehend criminals via the special RIAA automatic point of purchase notification system.
“When someone who is wanted by the authorities registers, a message is sent to the nearest police headquarters, and all outlet doors are locked to prevent the individual’s escape.”
More importantly, “BioDiscs will enable us to track consumers and acquire invaluable data on their musical preferences such as where they shop, how much they pay, and other information,” she says.
“This will allow us to better serve them and enhance their purchasing experience.”
BioDiscs also have a third purpose, says RIAA president Cary Sherman.
Each unit ‘recognises’ its rightful owner and, “In the centre of each receptor is a tiny needle (see yellow arrow) which is released when someone who is not licensed or otherwise authorised to use the disk attempts to play it,” he states, continuing:
“As part of the RIAA Tough Love campaign, it injects a long-lasting, but harmless, irritant which causes an itchy pustule to develop in the area penetrated by the needle.
“This leaves few secondary effects.”
BioDiscs will initially be tested exclusively by Sony BMG, “because it has the most experienced with embedded consumer control technology,” says Cluckworth.
When initial trials are over, Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal will employ the sensing technology on all of their music CD releases.
“I’m tremendously excited by this,” says Universal boss Doug Morris.
“It represents a solution we have all been looking for and may well teach users how to use our product in a responsible manner at the same time, allowing law-enforcement personnel who are currently enforcing copyright legislation to resume normal duties.”
Just a bit...
concerned......???????????
I think Sting's whereabouts are the least of our worries here. Where's he gonna go? He as well as all the others who check in from time to time have lost a ton to this scam.
Maybe everyone should plan an outing to drink away their sorrows. 33 1/2 shares will buy you a $5.00 beer.
Don't you mean...
stay Zuned?
I could not have said it any better.
Thanks for articulating what all but one remaining poster here believe to be 100% true.
Amen Brother!
Their silence speaks volumes!!!!!!!
I think most of us here are more likely
to get struck by lightning.
They will once..
Neil points it out on this thread.
Come on ALJ...
What's in that ASK THE PREZ that hasn't been touted over the last 6 years? Same old same old. From acquistions, letters of intent, dividends, Universal news, Howard Stern, floppy disc's, Inmod, music kiosks, .....
Now a broke company is going to aquire 5 to 6 new companies..
Sure they are......
You ain't seen nothing yet
Let's get real, shall we?
What happened to the July predictions
being touted back in March?
Let's number these promises
and see where they end up in a few weeks, months, years.
I think we all know what history tells us about past promises.
1.)Our goals this year include the acquisition of 5 or 6 companies
2.)You can expect news shortly regarding both Sonic Mountain/Odeo.com
3.)You can expect news shortly regarding another business partner in the works.
4.)Our ability to consistently add new business and associated revenues will rule the day
5.)More to come...
Here's more promises..
That sound all so familiar.
Stay Zuned...I mean tuned....
You ain't seen nothing yet
Q: Now that Amergence has come out the other end of this capital restructuring, how does it look for us, shareholders? Second, what’s the next 3 months look like for the company?
Thanks.
KMS (6/29/2007)
A: Thanks for writing. As you mentioned, Amergence is now trading at the increased share price and we are now attracting the attention of potential partners - both business and financial. Our goals this year include the acquisition of 5 or 6 companies which we believe represent tomorrow’s "hot" properties. You can expect news shortly regarding both Sonic Mountain/Odeo.com and another business partner in the works.
As you observed when we chatted on the phone, the market makers will take time to establish an initial price range for Amergence shares, but we feel that no matter where that price initially settles, our ability to consistently add new business and associated revenues will rule the day. We believe the Company has been be greatly enhanced with this new capital structure, and you should know that everyone at Amergence and its subsidiaries, TranzByte and Sonic Mountain/Odeo are working full-tilt to actualize a successful result for our shareholders.
More to come...
Reminds me of the summer vaction
reason given last year. Same old same old!
Geez!
Because history is what it is!
A leopard does not change it's spots
It's of huge importance.
No one could trade on the 45% increase being touted.
UNREAL
Yes in deed.
Let's see a show of hands as to
whom could possibly trade into the 45% gain being touted here???? UN-REAL!
The only thing that hasn't changed is
the unexplainable optimism presented daily.
Does anyone else see a trend here?
It was a post by Neil that..
brought the R/S and the 30 million shares to our attention. Then and only then did the company respond. UNBELIEVABLE!
What is it that Kenco has incorrect in the post?
I'm unable to see it. Thanks in advance
I say again...
These actions constitute a severe breach in shareholder trust.
I strongly believe that a Class Action lawsuit would find many backers here. Unfortunately, we would all have to stand in line behind BTEK to collect anything. These guys appear as if they are setting up to start this whole deceit process all over again. This has to be looked at for legality purposes. Should this post disappear, you would then have to assume that those in control here may need to be looked into as well. Not sure how anyone here can find the slightest silver lining in what has transpired. The share dilution to the common shareholder is unbelievable! We've all been schooled.
Regarding...
"There really needs to be some reward to the shareholders "
I call for a Class Action Lawsuit! They've raped us!
Yet another...
Pump and Dump!

OT - Hackers Pry HD DVD, Blu-ray Protections; Crack Quickly Spreads
Cracking protection systems is now a celebrated sport in the digital underground, and few companies have been spared a bloody DRM decryption. In the digital music world, titans like Apple and Microsoft have had their protection systems compromised numerous times, though the companies quickly issued patches in response. In the video realm, an alphanumerical key unlocking HD DVD and Blu-ray disc protections recently bubbled online, and subsequent efforts to contain the chaos resulted in a broader distribution. The copy-protection system, known as the Advanced Access Content System (AACS), was designed to limit access and redistribution of optical discs and DVDs.
The offending code appears to have first surfaced on the Doom9 Forum, and was recently posted on user-generated news service Digg. The AACSLA, a consortium that includes Disney, Intel, Microsoft, Matsushita (Panasonic), Warner Brothers, and IBM, issued a number of cease-and-desists to eliminate the information. Recipients of the termination letter included Google and Digg, both of whom complied, though a firestorm of protest soon erupted.
The result is that the code, which starts with 09F9, is now published across thousands of websites. And in the case of Digg, efforts to remove the key were stymied by innumerable posts containing the coveted number. "We had to decide whether to remove stories containing a single code based on a cease-and-desist declaration," said Digg founder Robert Kevin Rose. "We had to make a call, and in our desire to avoid a scenario where Digg would be interrupted or shut down, we decided to comply and remove the stories with the code. But now, after seeing hundreds of stories and reading thousands of comments, you've made it clear. You'd rather see Digg go down fighting than bow down to a bigger company."
The code, used in conjunction with a decryption program, means that a swath of high-fidelity DVDs can now be copied, swapped, and used without restrictions. That is a troubling development for major content holders, though the file sizes in mind are immense. "The files in question are enormous and cumbersome to store and distribute, containing more than a gigabyte of content," commented Princeton University Edward Felton. "If you can't stop distribution of these huge files, surely there’s no hope of stopping distribution of a little sixteen-byte key, or even of decryption software containing the key."
The bright side
You're only down a bit less than 50%
Stings doesn't it?
This appears to be
