YEP! MN whining about it is really pathetic! I really wish, no matter the situation, players would start laying bunts down or doing chop swings to knock that ball right down the 3B Line. I for one cannot wait for a bunt down the line against a shift ends a No Hit Bid! Imagine the outcry then, even though it would be the smart play.
Personally, I do not believe MN has any room to whine about that bunt in the ninth. If they are going to go and do an extreme shift on the batter in the Ninth Inning with that lead, why should he not take advantage and get on base for free? Baltimore needed base runners and the shift by the Twins gave them an opportunity to get one. Whining about them taking advantage of that is just weak!

History says that should be correct, but he is challenging Gabe Kapler for the biggest bungler so far this year!
Thanks! I was all set to drop him, but leaning on dropping Duffy instead right now. Hicks has too much of an upside if he can stay healthy. After watching Ohtani pitch today, he would go into my starting lineup before Duffy anyway right now. I still have 3 extra P's if I go this way and this would give me the extra position player if I do with dropping Duffy for hopefully J. Martinez.
Any hint of how long Hicks will be out? Trying to decide whether I should keep him on my bench and drop one of my fringe pitchers or not? If I choose to hold him, that means I probably am giving up on Danny Duffy. Unless he can regain his form from two years ago, that is no real big loss. If Hicks can come back and stay healthy, could be a big loss.
OK, thanks. That explains it a bit.
Yes he did! If I had not gone all in on Correa, I would have gone after him in the draft. I was correct that he would go cheap, so not worth keeping over Happ. DeJong could be a bigtime player this year. Still, not going to kick myself for keeping Didi, Happ and Moncada over him.
Joe Maddon is a genius in his own mind!
Anyone know the P/DH Rule in the American League. Just wondering why the Angels would not have Ohtani at DH to start the game, as it would give them more flexibility in their lineup as the game goes on?
Way to go Marlins! Make Maddon pay for his lineup tinkering, always outsmarting himself by not putting the best team on the field!
Pirates and Tigers were due to play a day/night Double Header today due to a rainout earlier this week. Game Time Temps could be below freezing if they do play the night cap.
How are they going to be able to play the nightcap in Detroit tonight? Looks like game time temp will be under 32? Tough to postpone, as they will not meet again this year being in different leagues, but at the same time, puts the players at too great a risk of injury in those temps.
OK, got a gift from CBS Sports! Since we had the draft on Wednesday Night and Lineups were not entered prior to the start of the season(We had to email our Commish by 10 AM Thursday to move reserves into starting positions and he did not finish entering before the first game), this week does not count. The 2nd gift, as I have a ton of points, but just facing someone with more and we could be the Top 2 Teams after today, the FA Picks go in reverse order of our post Auction reserve draft. Since I was 9th there, I am now 2nd. Have a really good shot at Martinez with the 10th Team having a Closer Deficiency. A logical person in his position would jump on Strickland. That said, I may put up a backup plan to drop one of my fringe P's for Strickland if he takes Martinez. Would give me Strckland, Osuna, Chapman and Kenley, so in position to trade.
Thanks, just saw that. Going to be tough winning this week even with some huge performances. Lost Hicks after game 1. Have a bunch of players sitting today and Sox V Royals postponed, so lose four players and Lopez today. Top that off with idiot Maddon tinkering and sitting both Contreras and Happ and it is looking ugly. On the bright side, might help me to get J. Martinez?
The only solace I can offer to Phillies fans is we had to deal with years of Robin Ventura. Kapler is not a Phillies Hero, so they will not have to be saddled with him forever like we were with Ventura!!!!
WOW! I have to say, my White Sox are so lucky to have Ricky Rentiera as Manager. These kids fights to the end for him. Such a far cry from when we had Ventura coaching!
Really? Will have to tune back into MLB Network after the Nova game so I can see that.
If Porcello is truly back to form, that Red Sox rotation once Pom is back is going to be downright scary!
Chicago White Sox sit atop the American League as March comes to a close!
WOW! Had been watching Sox, but will be able to watch 2nd half of that game.
They need the final game of the series, so why not let him DH? Not taxing on the body!
By the way, my White Sox are looking scary! They refuse to die this year. Yes, only two games, but they are fighters. That said, surprised Renteria brought in Nate Jones in the 8th just now? He was supposed to be the closer.
That was the news prior to the injury today. Maybe, just maybe they do DH Sanchez tmrw with Stanton in the OF?
It would be nice to see Stanton get some OF time and give Sanchez a chance to reach 5 games as DH! I have Cleveland's Mejia rostered and he qualifies as C. Currently in minors getting some position time in the OF, so they can bring his bat up.
Well, that was nice for me. I do not think Chapman would have pitched again today, so letting Blue Jays win with an Osuna Save sure helped me!
I would have to sit either T. Frazier, R. Devers, or Moose Moustakas to insert him next week, so far better off just leaving him on the bench for now. If he gets the PT and sticks, which means he is raking it, he should make it easy to bench either Frazier or Moose.
WOW! Matt Davidson may be for real! Just worked to a full count, fouling off a couple of really tough ones, then finally drove the ball to right to bring home Moncada! Last year, that was a sure KO AB for him!
Andujar is coming up! I cannot insert next week, or at least do not think I can trust enough. Need 1B/OF anyway. If he rakes though, he could be in NY to stay!
Hoping I can get Jose! St. Louis Manager said today that he is going to play most days.
Well shoot! Will not matter anyway, as he only qualified at 3B and I need either a 1B or OF to replace Hicks. Jose Martinez is out there in my league, but with my huge first week, going to be doubtful that I get him on my claim.
Knowing Drury can play average to above average OF, does McKinney's injury possibly open up a spot for Andujar to get promoted?
LOL! Yes, Maddon has a sick obsession and he does hurt the Cubs. With his need to play an aging over the hill Zobrist far too often, he will open up the door for either Milwaukee, St. Louis or both to pass them by.
ARGH! Exactly what I was worried about when keeping Happ! Maddon has Almora in CF today and ZOBRIST(?????) in RF. When is his sick bromance obsession with over the hill Zobrist going to end?????????????????
Opening Day. The season is a marathon and pulling a pitcher over 60 pitches with a five run lead is by no means ever a mistake on opening day.
I disagree. He had a comfortable lead and it was his pitcher's first start of the year. It is a long season, so you have to trust your BP to hold that lead, no matter who was out.
He was like that most of last year when healthy. I still cannot believe I was able to snag him for $1 late in my Auction Draft!!!!! "Pennies from Heaven" is how I felt!!!!!! I had spent big on My C's in Sanchez and Contreras, bringing back Correa and a BP of Chapman, Osuna and Kenley. Getting a player like Mitch cheap was huge, as was getting King Felix in the post Auction roster draft. Had to pay $11(my most expensive SP) for Paxton during the draft.
You never want complete games from your starters in the first couple of weeks, unless they have some kind of freaky performance where they get to the ninth in under 80 pitches! Need to give them a little more time to stretch out. I am glad they pulled Felix last night, as I got him cheap in my draft and am hoping he finds he old form! Would love to have a 1-2 weekly punch on my opponents of Paxton and King Felix, with Haniger raking for more points!!!!
Gut tells me this is at least a month long injury if not longer. I lead my league by a mile last year in injuries and not off to the best start this year. To make matters worse our Commish will not be finished entering the teams until tonight or in the morning, so cannot go Waiver Wire Dreaming just yet.
NOT AGAIN!!!!!! Hicks out with an intercostal strain after the first game????? Is my team going to be snake bit again this year? Not sure I can afford to roster Hicks with most of my reserves made up of rookie stashes and extra cheap P's with potential. Need to hold onto to the pitchers for at least a couple of weeks to see if I caught lightning in the bottle and Hicks may be out for an extended period???
1988 Mets and 2018 White Sox are now tied for all time record for the most HR's on opening day with six.
Waiting to see if this last one was also over 114MPH! Swing is looking completely different this year!
