Yep! Think at this point, he is far more valuable to the team than Walker. That said, maybe since they called Bird up so quickly, they first want to make sure he can hit for even a semblance of an average and also the ankle is really healthy If he proves to be healthy and hitting and Walker still pretty much struggling, they could DFA Walker then and bring Torreyes back up.
Austin gets a reprieve? Too bad, as Torreyes has done everything right for the Yankees. Might have been better DFA'ing Walker?
Yep! I got issues tonight. Have to root for both Paxton and Romero!
Saw the Judge throw to the plate and Andujar's almost goner. MLB has that game playing tonight, so have been flipping between my Sox and that. Love watching this kid Lopez pitch! Looking more and more like he is going to be a stud as he matures.
Well, I was happy to see Andujar get another 2B tonight just for a little extra safety!!!!
Yep! Do not see how the locals would even watch on TV. My White Sox on the other hand are horrid this year, but they play hard and the Sox showed last year they are not afraid of spending despite being in a rebuild when they got Robert. Knowing the team is on the upswing, it is fun to watch on TV or go to the park and being able to see the kids progress while knowing the future is getting brighter!
Very true. I am glad I am not a TB fan! At the very least, they need to be getting talent back and they are not!
Your GM did great! Tampa should have gotten far more for those two players, especially Colome!
Well excel, at least your GM is being proactive! Looks like a huge deal is going down right now!

Bird is coming, so who is going? Also, how long of a leash do they give him if he goes back to his Sub Mendoza Line ways?
WOW! Hanley being DFA'd???? Can Nunez play 1st too?
Yes, you would think, but the Mets just paid Bruce good money to come back, so he will get his chances at least for now.
Yes, but what happens once Cespedes is back?
He may have been brought up a little bit early? That said, it would set him back to send him down now.
Yep, 2nd player from the DR to get popped so far. Since they are so close to Machado, have to wonder??? LOL
Hoping Devers does not lose PT, as he is just about to heat up!
Lucas Giolito lost it again. Four runs in the first inning. He may need more time in AAA along with Fulmer!
So will he be everyday 2B, then Nunez playing all over the place?
Darn it! Looks like Osuna may be gone for a long time. He was my best RP until this crap!!!!
WOW! Did not know they had that. Might have to look into it. Been getting at least a game about every week, but that has me wanting to watch more! Thanks
Hahn has done a fantastic job ever since Williams and Reinsdorf stepped back and let him go at it. That said, possibly his best move was hiring Chris Getz away from KC to be his Director of Player Development. He seems to have really turned around the coaching and teaching in the minors since coming over last year.
Thanks Lee! I truly am excited about the White Sox future.
LOL, no! For the most part, the MLB Team has struggled this year, as most of the future White Sox roster is progressing through the minors and the young pitchers are still learning. That said, when I see Moncada looking like a future star, or Lopez looking like a future staff ace, I do get excited. Still most of the future is working its way through the minors right now.
Great part on that is our local NBCSports has been showing games from the minors. Tonight we get to see D. Cease pitch for the Dash and also get to see some rising stars n Rutherford, Basabe, Adolfo and Sheets. That gets me far more excited than the day to day play of our MLB team that is mostly made up of players that will not be in our core.
Ouch, there goes some of the prospects I was hoping the White Sox would get at the deadline!!!! That said, if I were an Oriole Fan, I would be getting really nervous. First Cano, now Wellington and both hang with Machado??? Wonder if they all have the same doctor???
Has a lot to do with coaching throughout the system, especially at the lower levels. On the surface Rosario looked ready when they brought him up last year, but it was quickly apparent his fundamentals were not MLB ready. Maybe that could be corrected at the MLB level, but not with the current coaching staff!
Really why I am getting more and more excited about my White Sox. Hahn not only has stocked the system with a ton of talent, he has also stocked it with really good developmental coaches! The latest of which was hiring Omar Vizquel as A Advanced Manager. Our young kids are now learning from one of the best the proper way to play the game!
That is called poor coaching!
Exactly! If they are out of it and make DeGromm available at the deadline, you are looking at a record or near record haul of prospects for him. OF course, plenty of other pieces to possibly turn their system into the top system in terms of prospects by the time the dust settles. Familia could bring in a huge haul as well, then Toddfather, Bruce, Ces…. Wow!
The Mets are sounding more and more like my old White Sox, trying to win with SP's and cobbled together vets, but always breaking down. Maybe the Mets should think about the rebuild while they still have some value to trade???
Haniger out for today, but possibly back for the next game. Does not sound too bad.
No new news on Haniger today. Really hope is not too bad, as I need him to produce this week!
Ouch! Just announced Dee has a fractured big toe???? Mariners are snake bit this year! Your GM would be wise to try to grab Leury Garcia from the Sox for lesser prospects, as he can play both 2B and the OF, even CF and would not require the Mariners empty their farm for him.
Just like I thought, no timetable on Bird return now. In other words, they are going to make him earn it, rather than breaking up a team that is playing well right now.
JD was a great fit for that team. Love how he goes with the pitch rather than trying to pull everything over the Green Monster!
Does not make much sense unless they plan on cutting bait on Walker?
Bird is not ready.
Mitch was huge for me today! Not only took away Greene's save, but the monster HR was gravy! I went into yesterday 152 down for the week, mostly due to Cubs and Yankees rainouts and now sitting 22 up! Opponent still has McCullers and Ramirez going, but I have Correa. Need Indians to jump on McCullers early!
Really do not see how they could possibly send Andujar down now? As for Bird, he has never hit for average, so do not understand the rush to bring him up. He is below .200 in his rehab as well. With NY playing so well, I would think they would be smart enough to put him in AAA when he is activated and make sure he has his swing right before even thinking of bringing him up.
Well, if the Dodgers get back on track, they have a deep enough system to pay for the rental of Machado. In addition, the longer Baltimore holds him, the more value they lose as he has to be looked at as a rental, seeing he has already rebuked any idea of him singing a long term contract without testing FA.
I keep hoping that the White Sox make a huge play for him next Winter, as he would fit in perfectly with a young emerging team. Issue there though is most that think he will consider the Sox think so due to Wellington Castillo being on the team and I am betting Hahn trades Wellington at the deadline, as power hitting catchers that can also field the position well can bring in a huge return at deadline time.
