With regard to the advantages of text/speech for 'teens use on mobile devices'...
How does will this technology (text/speech) recognition recognized the rambling texting of the typical teen? Just imagine how a teen texts, they do not write in full words or words at all. So now they have to say full words and the proper language for this to work. Hey this sounds like a phone conversation.
With texting usually an added charge (currently) and voice is your plan minutes, who is willing to pay that much more for texting all the time when you can talk?
"It deals with the dangers of texting while driving and how it may have led to the death of some young High School girls. If states enact legislation making it an offense to text and drive, voice to text technology may have a niche."
And i guess you are assuming dumb kids will be the wiser and safer drivers now they can yell at a phone while trying to read the tiny text on the tiny screen.
Just as dangerous as texting, talking, or doing anything without your full attention to driving and both hands on the wheels.
Wow...I see accident waiting to happen already. Hey, why dont you let your kids try it out.
Why is anyone still talking about this loser company, lawsuits, etc?
It's been a good ride back up to the 0.40's, hope you all sold and made some bucks.
It's back to crap again and now more losers have joined the board.
And your point is?
Are kids smarter or more responsible than adults in regards to use of phones while driving?
Are you saying they will use a hands free device to do this?
Will they mount their phones to the dashboard to talk/text?
Think of the backlash the mfgs will get from consumers/safety groups when dumb kids are constantly voice/texting while driving as well as talking/driving.
How will this reduce accidents?
"voice to text technology may have a niche"
Is this the 'lazy persons' method of making an actual phone call 'conversation'?
Unless they use a hands free device most states have laws/legislation to make it illegal to drive and talk/text with devices.
So why would phone mfgs be interested in this? Just pull over and talk!
AIDO should sell to AAPL so they can track the Gillions of
iPhones, iPods, Powerbooks they sell.
Gillions I Say!

ITS ALL A WASHOUT...
Wow they're reporting last years stories!!! Olds travel fast in these parts eh?
AIDO should do something creative and design a 'Mock-up Goodyear branded' scanner...
or do one for FEDEX, UPS so when they do their presentation it will look as if they put some time into crafting their products specifically for each company instead of bring a generic product to the table....
sort of like OCC doing theme bikes for fortune 500 companies....
thats Orange County Choppers for all you old-timers, look it up on Discovery.com
I'm tickled pink selling at 0.48 cents
Really, whats going on with this company???
$2 bucks, you are a comedian.
And this stock went from .03 cents to .50 to its current .19 because of.....
Nothing, no deals or talks with any of the majors....
All hype by ASNAP, P2k and the rest of the...
Hey I hope you all made some money...
SAMSUNG t409
Cost: $50 (with two-year contract)
T-Mobile tried to steal some of Apple's thunder by releasing the Samsung t409 and the Nokia 6086 two days before the iPhone launch.
T-Mobile has reason to be audacious: the Samsung and the Nokia are the first dual mode Wi-Fi phones to be sold by a major US carrier.
This allows customers to make voice calls over the Internet when they're near a Wi-Fi hotspot, then seamlessly switch those calls to a cellular network when out of Wi-Fi range.
...sounds like something calypso is trying to do but failed...
Ah, good one! So who are the majors now besides Goodyear & Michelin?
Homeland Security, DOD, Law Inforcement, Medical Laboratories
They should start thinking about these sectors and designing even smaller rfid chips to tag:
'fluid specimens', 'implant into prison inmates & paroles', 'government officials & contractors'
By the way the other day I went to my local UPS distribution warehouse to pick up a package.
Their trucks use a combination of Michelin and BFGoodrich tires. Why is that??
Cant hear any phones at my end
American companies are willing to buy cheap, poor quality goods from china instead of buying Goodyear, Michelin, BF Goodrich to save a few bucks.
Why then would they want to add on to the cost of their tires with RFID patches? They seem to only care about the bottom line. PRICE and not tracking.
Hopefully the big three tire companies and FedEx, UPS buys into this product, because without them who else is there???
Where's the market for this if AIDO fails to convince them?
Chinese Tires Face Recall
About 450,000 tires are missing an important safety feature; U.S. safety officials reportedly want importer to issue full recall.
June 26 2007: 5:05 AM EDT
NEW YORK (Reuters) -- A New Jersey importer of Chinese-made automobile tires has asked the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for help in recalling about 450,000 of the light truck tires because they lack an important safety feature, lawyers said.
The tires, made by Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co., have an insufficient or missing gum strip, a safety feature that helps prevent the tires from separating, the lawyers and a consumers' group said in a statement. The group, Safety Research & Strategies, is urging retailers and wholesalers to stop selling the tires.
The New Jersey importer, Foreign Tire Sales, has told U.S. safety officials the tires were sold under the names Westlake, Telluride Compass and YKS, according to lawyers representing families of people involved in a car accident blamed on the tires.
U.S. traffic safety officials could not immediately be reached for comment, nor could Foreign Tire Sales in Union, New Jersey.
According to The New York Times, the NHTSA wants a full tire recall by Foreign Tire Sales and considers the recall to be the company's ultimate responsibility. Hangzhou Zhongce sold tires to at least six other U.S. distributors, according to the Times.
The Chinese manufacturer also could not immediately be reached for comment.
Foreign Tire Sales last month filed a breach of contract suit against Hangzhou, court documents show.

Wow, its about time. I thought this company was chasing only 1 vendor. Remarkable that they read my mind to pursue the other majors!!!
Tire patches, what would they sell for over tiny chips?? What would scanners sell for??
Work the other companies...toyo, continental, falken...
Anyone seen the movie 'Escape from New York' with Kurt Russell?
There was a scene early on when Kurt aka 'Snake Plissken' was injected with a tracking device into his neck near his jugular. The US police force, represented by 'Lee Van Cleef' was able to track and monitor his movements in Manhatten while he attempt to rescue the president of the USA.
Whats cool about this device is that it had a 24 hour life, and when that was up it was supposed to blow up. Just enough of an explosion that it would rupture his jugulars and he would bleed to death.
So what my point? This type of device is pretty dang cool to use in prison inmates, released violent criminals, pedolphiles, whatever. The police or parole officer can monitor these criminals movements.
Now to prevent this tracking device from exploding, it would have to be scanned or vaporized so that it wont blow up, just like in the movie. So if they didnt show up for their scan, well you know - one less criminal. Get the idea???
Think about how many criminals/inmates/child molestors there are in the US, Canada, South America, Asia, and Europe that these government can apply this to.
Scratch the last sentence. Mybad.
Anyway, copyright laws don't apply to non-law abidding persons. A thief won't care if there is a copyrighted tag, nor would the person buying the stolen tire. They're both unethical people and they will do whatever it is to make money.
And if buying and selling stolen tires is such a big issue in emerging countries no tag is going to preven theft.
You guys are the experts, shouldn't you already know what tags sell for? The information is out there. Check the RFID Journal, Walmart, BestBuy
Basic tags go anywhere from 0.20 - 0.40 cents. The bigger the order the lower the price as with any product.
1 million tags @ 0.25 will give you $250K. So you guys better hope AIDO get a BIG order in the millions of tags and a good deal of scanners, software, and more importantly a service agreement if applicable.
Why aren't they in talks with the other big tire manufacturers if this is their primary business??
BFGoodrich, Continental, Toyo, Michelin, Pirelli, Yokohama, Uniroyal, etc...
Well I guess the only thing they can do is blame the driver and fire him for the missing tagged tires???
No more tires and wheels stolen for now, but then comes the next driver, and the next driver....
So this 336 tire tags, what was the revenue for AIDO? $70? $80? $90
Its like selling small pieces of candy to make money and it will take millions of tags just to get them out of the red. Then they'll have to pay salaries sooner or later...
Now You've piqued my interest.
What region of the world do you live in where you cannot open/tamper with the property you own?
What region of the world do you live in where police forces have scanners to check for ownership of property?
I don't think you can force this on consumers.
"- I assumed that it would be clear that when a whole line of tires has chips, one without a tag is messed around with. As there will probably be copyright laws and such on the chips, it would be illegal to remove the tags itself, stolen or not. I also thought it was obvious that when you put an RFID tag in a tire, that one would read them as well (seems pointless if not...), by a buyer, owner or indeed the police with random checks. This should be a mandatory thing."
This idea would require the entire industry to participate in this as well as consumers, law enforment agencies, and gov'ts to accept this. Has this occured anywhere with any product? This is wishful thinking at best. It's called invasion of privacy and consumers are resistant to this.
Why would consumers, law enforcement be interested in this when no other common valuable product has this capability? Why just tires and not my stereo system, hdtv, jewelry, computers, pda's, expensive china/silverware? How can the gov't make it illegal to tamper with a product a person buys?
Why would law enforcement want this additional burden when there are more heinous crimes to deal with? Will they carry a scanner from every manufacturer to scan different goods?
Controlled inventory and tracking at best. Many companies already do this.
So now Goodyear is your saving grace. And leasing tires is the business model and only plan.
Well savy dreamers there are many tire companys out there and unless FEDEX, DHL, or UPS is locked in a longterm contract to lease tires from Goodyear then AIDO has nothing.
These companies can all go to Dunlop, TOYO, Continental, etc for better pricing, products, or service. So your Dan Finch better start doing some sweet talking to the other majors in the industry or there is absolutely No hope for AIDO.
Maybe they can convince the Canadian federal gov't to require all citizens to be tagged and trackable just like in your Utopian dream world. Thats and easy 100 million for AIDO.
Again you all see only one scenerio with tire theft but have not resolve the issue about tracking and recovery. RFID has NO GPS capabilities. It only has an effective communication range of less than 10 ft.
So now the stolen newer tires get shipped across the country or overseas and the company is left with older tires. Who tracks it down? If the rfid tag is so smart will your tag call the local, regional, national police force in Rio de Janeiro or Bogota?
Maybe the underemployed underpaid 'Tire Tracking Police Unit in Argentina' will hunt down the tires in China for you?
How does this theft go away. Thieves will aways steal until they're caught. Just because the tires were discovered to have been switch does not solve or prove anything.
AGAIN there is no answer to solve theft, its all hypothetical
"- Stolen tires can have the tag removed, but if the whole series has tags, it's pretty obvious that a tire without tag is a stolen tire."
How is it obvious a tire without a tag is stolen? IS THERE A TIRE POLICE FORCE I haven't heard of? Is there some new police unit that will track this down? If 'Tony Soprano' and his crew in Jersey knock off truck after truck to steal tires and sell it to some other hoods across the country how will it get tracked down?
"- Stolen tires can have copied chips, but as these are checked at the system of the manufacturer, it shouldn't be hard to understand one tire is stolen if it's read in two different parts of the world."
Again why would a thief replace the chip? How are stolen goods checked at the manufacturer? You all must think you live in a perfect world. Who checks stolen goods? Are thiefs going around advertising it?
"- Recycle stolen tires?"
Any firm that used rubber to make another good can use stolen tires as a cheap resource. You think 3rd world countries don't this already? Duh
LOJACK like recovery, Amazing real time monitoring capabilities!!
1. With rfid tags we can track your stolen tires that are sold and shipped across the country.
2. With rfid tags your tires are monitored for air pressure and wear.
3. RFID tags can save your company money by reducing fuel consumption thus reducing expenses for your company.
It does not do anything unless you spend more money and resources to train a team of grease-monkies to use a scanner and the accompanying software. This will actually cost you more money for salaries, equipment and training therefore negating any savings gained on fuel consumption.
It does not do anything to reduce wear. Tires will wear down no matter what you do. RFID tags are not smart devices. You can store and retrieve data 'YOU' put in it so its only as good as the weakest link in the supply chain. It has an effective communication range of about 5ft.
THIS company will go nowhere fast. RFID is a commodity and only a few companies will use it. This is not a fast growth product nor will you see significant profits in penny tags.
Please tell me why this is the cureall and the future for tires?
"1)Theft. Stealing tires is huge business across the world. Has anyone ever looked at what a set of bus tires can cost?"
Yes tires are expensive but how does rfid tags solve this problem when stolen tires can easily be shipped across country or overseas to be used elsewhere? Will there be a tire tracking officer hunting them down??
Stolen tires can also be chopped up recyceled/reused for other products so there goes the investment in tags. Poof, gone no more tracking capabilities.
"2)Tire pressure. With a simple shot from the reader with bluetooth wireless capabilities the end user can compile data such as tire pressure whenever they so choose."
So the only thing this tagging is good for is compiling tire pressure data instantaneously? Compiling data is one thing, you still have to fill the tires with air. The responsibility for maintaining tire pressure can easily be done by the driver. I'm sure he/she can check/fill all 18 tires on a big rig in less than 30 mintues at the truck stop along the highway or when they return to home base.
Besides if you are typically the sole driver of an assigned truck/bus, who is better at maintaining that vehicles tire pressure than yourself? Are you going to rely on some pump jockey scanning tires? This cost very little. Buying tags, scanners and creating a dept of people to do this is costly.
Checking tire pressure is only accurate when the tire is cold. So checking it anytime say when its hot is a waste of time since the pressure is higher than what is recommended.
"3)Fuel management. Companies like DHL, Fed Ex and UPS will all adopt this technology for fuel savings. Let's say that UPS gets 75,000 miles on a set of tires. At 15 miles to the gallon they will use 5000 gallons of fuel for a set of tires. At $3 a gallon for gasoline that is $15,000 in gasoline for one set of tires.
A big tire manf believes proper tire management could save a company 10% in fuel savings over the life of the tires. That's $1500 in savings. Now multiply that by the entire fleet of trucks."
So you are saying that these companies do not know what it cost to fuel and operate their trucks and they need tags to do this? Nonsense! I'm sure every 3-5k miles when the vehicles are brought in for oil changes and maintenance that the tire pressure gets check. It's not rocket science; my grease-monkey does that without any scanner or embedded tag. Its called an air-gauge and it takes but a second to check it.
Tire manufacturers are in the business to make tires of various types for various applications and to make a profit. Sure they can preach fuel savings to the customers and proper tire pressure but they have no control of the tires once it leaves the manufacturing plant and they are not in the position to force businesses to 'USE' any particular technology or proprietary application that track tire pressure.
Just to be clear....Tire companies cannot do a thing about how a company manages their operations. They can adopt a technology but they cannot force others to follow in their interest. RFID is an evolving technology with no standards and no one wants to be stuck with a proprietary system technology changes in another direction.
Any kind of contract with enough $$$$$ so they can get themselves out of the red.
That $400k in AR is hurting them really bad right now
Thats a big IF that you all have been waiting for
Goodyear or another tire company could just acquire AIDO instead of signing a contract for a few readers and tags. Their market cap is only $20 million with little to no cashflow.
So why would they buy products if they can buy the company? This speculation about $2/3/4/5 pps from others is ridiculous and will never happen anytime soon.
