SKS comment-
I recall SKS saying in one of the last couple of conference calls that if the right opportunity arises Wave wants to be able to go after that opportunity. I believe he was talking about raising funds to do this. Does anyone know where that quote came from?
TIA
Seagate FDE/Dell
I heard an available date for the encrypted drive for Dell small business of June 11th. Awk, any idea if the FDE with Latitude is still shipping this week for other Dell segments (ie Gov't, medium/large busines). Thanks.
Peter Sprague
How many years was Peter Sprague the CEO of Wave? What was he like? I guess I wonder if SKS has the get it done = profit or else attitude. Its just that Peter Sprague was a success at National Semiconductor for a number of years and I wonder if he wasn't a more tough SOB than SKS is. I think SKS is a genius in many ways and knows the business, but well I guess I just wonder.
All I can say is wow. Is that for real?
Shareholder meeting questions...
I'm attending the shareholder's meeting on June 7th for the first time. I'm not sure if there are any discounts on spending the night at the Helmsley Hotel for shareholders or if anyone has an idea of of a good hotel at a reasonable price. Is everyone in suits and ties or shorts and tank tops:)? Are any of the Wavoids going to meet up before or after the event? If there is anything that might be helpful to know for me or fellow Wavoids please share.
Thank you,
Genz2
Thank you for posting!
Did you happen to ask him about Seagate FDE drives on the Latitudes?
Sorry about that Ispro-
I got so focused looking for this Intel goods that I was looking on Microsoft site for Intel????
Micro made a good point as to what this says Intel thinks about Wave. I would think that when selling ETS and the servers Wave has a much better shot when it can point to documents like this. I'm sure it goes much deeper but this is really 'cool'.
Ispro-
That documentation re: the ETS is pretty exciting. Thank you for your help. I'll need to go back to the Wave site and do a refresher on many of the subjects that have left me. One LAST question (I think), I wasn't sure where you went on the Microsoft link after getting to the initial page.
Ispro-couple more questions-
Key migration or vault sharing requires the ETS Enterprise edition. I'm not sure what Key migration or vault sharing is.
There is the use of a fingerprint reader. I believe Papa Gino's uses a Embassy Authentication Server. If a customer is using biometrics why would they not use the EAS.
I guess the point I'm driving at is it would seem like there would be a need to have the ETS Enterprise edition in many cases.
Ispro-That makes sense. Thank you.
Ispro thanks and...
In one of your links it describes the key transfer manager so I am under the impression that this would need to be the Business edition Embassy Trust Suite and not Embassy Trust Suite lite. Is that correct? Thanks again.
Thank you Snackman. That was outstanding reading. It really gives you a taste for what this technology can be used for. The TPM is truly a great technology. THANKS AGAIN.
Now that's DD. THANK YOU!
I think its more like WIFS...When Is the Financing Syndrome?
90 day DART review-
I think that is what the time frame was for this review. Does anyone have any idea whether the DOD was waiting for this review to be completed before purchasing the encrypted drives? Or is it possible that the DOD could be buying now.
TIA
Institutional ownership....
Wasn't institutional ownership 17% a little while ago? A decline of 7%.....
Dell Latitude info-
I read for the first time the 'spec brochure' for the Latitude line of notebooks. One line I liked was "IT decision-makers will appreciate the optional encrypted or solid state drives..."
Mentions optional encrypted drive under smart security as well. Looks good to me.
Yes, I guess I'm glad to see that is on the market, but are they using the Seagate DB35 drives in it. SKS said that they had completed the key management infrastructure for the Seagate consumer drives. Does that then link with the DB35 and more importantly how does Wave PROFIT from it? Thank you for your response.
Genz2
Zune-Anybody know about Zune and podcasting yet.. Barge
Also when is the XBox 360 Elite going to be on the market? I guess I'm wondering whether the DB35 is part of it.
Are the DB35's from Seagate in anything yet? I thought they were going to be in the market before the enterprise FDE from Seagate.
Thanks for your answers in the past Barge.
C8015 Notebook from ASI
Guv, if you go to products and type in C8015 it only brings up the specs for this notebook (you must go into the Sku 50125 selection). It specifies 2.5'' Sata harddrive in the specs. I'm sure if its ordered one could choose the FDE drive from seagate (my opinion). Interesting to note that it has a TPM.
Guv, I tried the ASIpartner website-
Although I can't pull up the notebooke with Seagate FDE drive I was able to pull up the FDE drive. That has been up for awhile. Maybe you have to be able to log onto the website to get that information. Awk said that they should have been shipping 'FDE.2 equipped platforms' on Monday.
Okay, I did know that, but am I under the correct impression that Gateway is using them in their consumer. When I read Ispro's post on the Atomic Bobs it had Gateway 'Home'. Is that a consumer PC? And if Gateway has it Dell can't be too far behind or am I far off here?
Ramsey: from Awk
Dell and ETDM...
All Dell PCs equipped with a Seagate FDE.2 drive will be factory loaded with:
Wave ETS Enterprise Security / Dell Edition 3.0
Dell SKU: A0618255
Looks like this is priced at around $49.00 on the Envoy site. So Wave should get - and that is a guess - about $30.00 for every DELL PC equipped with a seagate FDE.2 drive. And that is before the server tools.
THIS SAYS TO ME THAT EVERY SEAGTE FDE.2 WILL HAVE ETS 'UPGRADED VERSION' May be I'm more excited about this than many Wavoids but I think this is huge and it is what Awk has been saying for a few months now.
Gateway vs. Dell
If the ETS Lite is showing on the Gateway Home models then why don't we have ETS Lite in Dell consumer models. Or was that Gateway Home not a consumer model.
Awk, thanks for the response the other night re: FDE/Dell/Wave.
Thank you Ramsey
However they can sell those full versions is fine by me. Do you know off hand how many TPM's Winbond sells in a year? Thanks again.
I'm not clear on the full ETS or ETS lite? Does full ETS mean ETS lite? TIA
There were some tough questions in the cc which is good IMO, but I think when someone asks like 10 questions or more it starts to get a little out of hand.
Does the Dell 531 come with the 'Embassy Trust Suite' or ETS lite? If it comes with ETS Lite and therefore doesn't have the KTM, what good is the encrypted drive. It seems from what I have read that the full ETS provides necessary features like being able to recover your password. If anyone can shed any light on this I would appreciate it.
TIA
Ispro - Thank you very much for all of your great DD over the last couple of days. It is very much appreciated.
Shareholders meeting question-
This may be a dumb question, but as a shareholder are you allowed to bring someone to the meeting that is a non-shareholder. And where is it located this year? Does anyone know about how many people attended last year?
TIA
Internet (Jas), it is my opinion that your posts really get to the point and quickly. Thank you for posting all that you have posted lately. Its been good reading.
Thank you Unclevername for everything and BigTim for taking the time to express your thought and insights. I read almost every post on I hub and you guys are definately some heavy hitters.
Thank you for all your efforts Jas- You bring up some very interesting and valid points.
Is there another survey?
I have read a lot of posts and I think that one makes the most sense to me.
I think when SKS said that they had closed business in North America, Asia/Japan, and Europe I had this vision of pretty good enterprise revenues for the fourth quarter. I'm not very good at accounting but I think that statement may have been a little too big and broad. Okay, maybe he said something like a few hundred thousand dollars. Hmmmmmm. I'm sure others feel differently. The shareholders are supposed to continue to look past the BOTTOM LINE performance and grant limits of these stock options such as these. I truly think that SKS is a genius, but I think some credibility has been lost over the years. The shareholders are the OWNERS!!!!! I vote no whether seagate or another big piece of news comes in. Wildman makes a great point.
OT - Re: Fujitsu FMV B8230 w/Seagate FDE drive
This notebook appears to have a tpm but I am not certain. If that is the case then the customer would need to use Wave. Wouldn't Fujitsu need the full ETS for those who chose Seagate FDE on that notebook? Based on a previous post I read awhile ago someone indicated that the demand for these notebooks was sky high. AWK or any other poster who has some insight on the Fujitsu FMV B8230 that could shed some light would be most appreciated.
TIA
Thank you Go-kitesurf!

Enterprise deals....
From the presentation, I gathered that Wave was still 'slogging through the mud.' Maybe they land a big one for this quarter, but it didn't sound like one was going to be happening soon. Of course IMO of what I heard on the call. Hope the future brings about these deals soon.
Fujitsu notebook with FDE drive...
Does anybody wonder if the Fujitsu notebook with Seagate's FDE drive in Japan included Wave's software? If it was included I would think that that would be a bigger deal than ASI and ASI got all the press. If anyone has any thoughts I would sure like to hear them.
TIA
Manage Your FDE Drives.....
This I believe has been added as a sponsored link on Google when I input ST9160824AS. I'm sure it pops up other times under different criteria as well. I wonder if it is showing up now because the drives are ready to be sold at many different distributors.
