Ok we are done talking…
I got my reply from Bonnie. mail from 25 October 2022
I agree that it is tethered. Anyways I'm not going into a discussion like this....
If you are so certain then prove to me that the chips are inside the nreal air.
I agree future. I looked it up myself and came to the same conclusion. Even gave it as a reply to S7 but didn't get a further feedback on that. I also tried to reach out to Nreal but got no reply
Fact is that S7 did not confirm that they deliver for Nreal Air. Not in a News release and not when I've asked them. The only Nreal news we got was on the Nreal light https://www.spectra7.com/nreal
100K AR glasses would mean quite the volume on AR/VR chips and a mentionable part of the 11M US revenue. S7 did not mention anything on that. They only talk about the major console supplier deal when it comes to AR/VR business.
All this together makes me think there is indeed no S7 inside the Nreal Air. The AR glasses are tethered but I'm sure S7 would know if they supplied for this model.
Then why this was never officially communicated? If Nreal would sell 100K of these and there would be 2pcs S7 chip inside, it would mean a nice contribution to the 2022 Revenue (at least a couple of %)
I got my reply end of October last year coming direct from C-Level of S7.
S7 did not confirm to me Nreal Air is using their chips. And I was not talking to Darrow. So I assume Nreal Air isn't using the technology.
Also there was never a NR on it
However the Apple news of developing a cheaper AR/VR headset (HMD) is interesting.
An article about this: https://www.macrumors.com/2023/01/17/apple-cheaper-ar-vr-headset/
I wouldn't look to much at NREAL. Since it seems that the NREAL Air does not contain S7 Technology. I have asked this question directly to S7 (not those IR clowns at Darrow)
The Reply:
"It is our understanding that our chips are in their tethered headset. Although we believe NREAL Air is a stand-alone headset and not tethered. "
There was another interesting part in the December interview with Halim.
Start at 8:20 of the video.
Great ! IMO Bonnie is a better presenter than Halim. Her style is calm and she goes into more details
4 USD is still a long way to go for Nasdaq listing. Last week the SP was 0.50 CAD so that means a 10 bagger from there to reach requirements.
Its also interesting to know that they work with distributors in Asia and that North American business is often supported direct
Would the North American opportunity relate to the 112G PAM4 ACC model?
This was the one Halim was mentioning in his talk last month.
Will you share a video as usual Steve?
Unfortunately can't attend the meeting (in the gym to invest in my health)
PSVR2 cable in more details see in this video. Start at 6:34
Great day but we need results. Expectations are high.
I've listened again to the interview of Halim back in December.
EBITDA break-even in Q4 22. Spectra7 Announces Preliminary Fourth Quarter and Annual Financial Results for the Year Ended December 31, 2022
https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/spectra7-announces-preliminary-fourth-quarter-and-annual-financial-results-for-the-year-ended-december-31-2022-826517923.html
Not 95 design wins. so far only 6 design wins are confirmed.
100+ cable SKUs design in
6 Design wins
These 6 SKU design wins are likely all Tencent
See this video Q&A at the end
This kind of info should be promoted by S7 marketing in the 1st place…. Another missed opportunity
I certainly hope that we can see more marketing efforts in this year because it is too much hide and seek IMO
-Twitter and LinkedIn account is hardly used
-no YouTube channel to explain the acc technology
-Website with poor information hardly any updates
If they expect significant orders this year it’s about time to start the marketing machine
Performance Expectations = Results + Actions & Behaviors
Just found this Youtube movie by coincidence of the Ethernet Alliance from 7 months ago (just over 50 views...)
Even better when 56g takes off for S7. But so far it's silent on all fields...
Spectra7 will be exhibiting at Designcon. Jan 31 - Feb 2
https://dcon23.mapyourshow.com/8_0/explore/exhibitor-gallery.cfm?featured=false&alpha=S&search=spectra7
CREDO isn't exhibiting here. They will exibit at OFC Mar 7 - 9: https://credosemi.com/events/
Hopefully S7 will demonstrate something on OFC at Ethernet Alliance booth as they did back in 2022. https://www.spectra7.com/200g-ofc
A recent quote from Halim:
Future What makes you think S7 DC business will (finally) kickoff in 2023?
I certainly hope you are right but do not see the signs yet.
Unfortunately S7 never officially announced (or can’t announce) that they are supplying to psvr2. There is no marketing on AR/VR solutions which is remarkable since it seems S7 is the way to go when it comes to tethered VR.
Sure most big VR makers will know S7 but it doesn’t come back in our corporate ppt. Show the advantages of tethered VR vs wireless. Missed opportunity cause we could lift on the psvr2 hype ( even without mentioning psvr2)
fact is that currently almost all revenue comes from VR. It should have more attention IMO
PlayStation VR2 launches in February at $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99 / ¥74,980
https://blog.playstation.com/2022/11/02/playstation-vr2-launches-in-february-at-549-99/
"During this initial launch phase for our next-gen headset, players in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg will initially be able to pre-order PlayStation VR2 solely through PlayStation’s online store at direct.playstation.com. Pre-orders will begin on November 15, and players may begin to register for pre-orders starting today. Orders from direct.playstation.com for PlayStation VR2 headsets and bundles will ship throughout the week of launch. "
You are right Steve.
Found out this message board has a function to ignore certain people.
problem solved.
Found this old vid of Spectra7
As for 5G I certainly hope that it is still pending but the fact is that it is silent for 2 years now. In fact exactly 2 year as from today: https://www.spectra7.com/5g
Credo is already mentioned on the website of a Distributed, Disaggregated Chassis (DDC) hardware manufacturer
https://www.ufispace.com/partners/our-ecosystem
Also Credo is showcasing this on the OPC summit this week: https://www.opencompute.org/summit/global-summit/experience-center (see point 2 networking)
No S7. I prefer to see them there instead of another useless LD Micro event
The presentation is the same old story. Communication and marketing are really not on point at Spectra7. The corporate ppt is basically only showing huge potential in DC but doesn't give any updates on S7 execution (especially now they deleted the design in/win slide).
Majority of revenue is currently coming from VR but no decent slide on this (just the same VR slide we see for years now). Tell us the advantages of tethered HMD. Is the focus more on high end VR or are AR glasses also a field to focus on? Next to gaming VR has also purposes in Defense training and Medical VR. How can S7 chips be interesting for these fields?
No dedicated slide on automotive. They just achieved production status with JVCKENWOOD. What are the applications in Automotive where S7 can play a role?
5G has turned completely silent. If that is dead just leave it out of the ppt. Same with 'consumer' on slide 5.
How much effort is it to update a corporate ppt? Telling the same story every year on events like LD Micro will not attract new investors (that is the purpose of such events). They should highlight that they make steps in markets like VR and Automotive
with around 33M shares outstanding I think it is a tight float. According to Yahoo finance the shares held by insiders and institutions is around 30% https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/SEV.V/holders?p=SEV.V
Some of the people here seem to also have a big position so I wouldn't be surprised as there is a good chunk of retail that is going for the long term
The share price moves on small volumes. Unfortunately its going down by the lack of news (and communication IMO) and expectations in DC market that were not met so far. But a positive NR can move the needle really quick
Thanks FutureGNR.
I wonder if Sony has ramped up quantities or that these 2M pieces (before March 2023) were already set as a target.
Bonnie stated that the AR/VR Design win was included in the 11M US revenue
Some general VR market updates:
Lenovo has announced a new VR set that can operate standalone and tethered via USB-C: https://news.lenovo.com/pressroom/press-releases/thinkreality-vrx-virtual-reality-solution-enterprise-metaverse/
FWIW Zillow mentions the home of Halim was officially sold 2 days ago https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/7-Pelican-Vista-Dr-Newport-Coast-CA-92657/25503307_zpid/
Automotive News ! Spectra7 and Elka Achieve Production Status with JVCKENWOOD in Automotive Application https://www.spectra7.com/elkaproductionstatus
Unexpected but good to see that S7 is now also active in a sector like automotive industry
Pathfinder Asset Management Limited
13.24% of the issued and outstanding
common shares 4,454,565 common shares and
666,667 warrants and 1,531 convertible debentures.
https://ceo.ca/content/sedar/SEV-20220908-Alternative-monthly-report-3ac3.pdf
nice to see institutional is taking a nice part besides the insiders
Ok that is good news.
Then I wonder why S7 did not announce it. When a customer chooses again for S7 in a next gen product it should be announced IMO
Shows (again) that Darrow is a complete waste of money. Really don’t understand S7 is using their services. S7 is not even noticed on their webpage…
I've tried to figure out before if the NREAL Air is using S7 technology.
Asked IR but got a complete BS reply from Darrow . They said its a standalone device and that the cable is only for charging. But NReal documents tell something else:
Fact is that S7 only released news on the NREAL Light: http://spectra7.com/nreal
In case the NREAL Air is also using the technology S7 should have announced it (missed opportunity?)
