Interesting if BKMP/TFNG ever decide to use "The Wagering Network"
Congress May Overturn Online Gambling Ban
Tuesday, April 28, 2009
Print ShareThisWASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, said on Tuesday he would introduce a bill next week to overturn a three-year-old U.S. ban on Internet gambling.
The legislation, likely to be opposed by anti-gambling Republicans, would overturn a law imposed during the Bush administration that has hurt U.S. trade ties with the European Union. Frank said the bill was being drafted this week.
"We'll be introducing it next week and I plan to move on it," said Frank, a Democrat, speaking at the Reuters Global Financial Regulation Summit in Washington.

The bill had been expected earlier, but Frank said his committee has been busy with other measures addressing the credit crisis and proposals to reform financial regulation.
The European Commission, the EU's executive, said late last month in a draft report that a U.S. Justice Department crackdown on European online gambling companies violated U.S. commitments under the World Trade Organization.
But the commission, which oversees trade policy for the 27-nation EU bloc, said it would seek a negotiated solution with the United States rather than file a WTO complaint.
EU online gambling firms lost billions of euros in value after the U.S. Congress in 2006 made it illegal for banks and credit card companies to make payments to online gambling sites.
Republicans controlled the White House and Congress when the law was approved. Now, Democrats are in control in both branches of the government, but it is unclear how the Obama administration will handle the issue.
While EU companies like PartyGaming and 888.com subsequently withdrew from the United States, they still face possible U.S. criminal prosecution for their activities in the U.S. market prior to 2006.
Matt ,I really appreciate your efforts here. Do you think it would be a good idea to release a shareholders update via PR from the company? Not all shareholders read this board and a shareholders update is certainly due in my opinion. It may have a positive impact on the PPS as well.
How can you say BKMP is a scam? Most real scams own little or nothing. BKMP owns at least a million bucks in stock of TFNG still. Granted there has little or no information out for quite a while but they are still doing their quarterly's and it still shows that BKMP has real asset's. Real scams do not have asset's!!!!
BEEN A WHILE SINCE I STANK DRANK!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow the response to the Mayor's letter from PSNH sort of spelled it out eh? Epecially the last sentence. Apparently PSNH is even more perturbed at Clean Power now and possibly the Mayor as well. I think CPD actually threw themselves under the bus not to mention making Bertrand look like a fool.
Why are we even concerned if this will not do anything for 3 Efing years. Why is this even a concern at present? Investors see ya in 3 years. I'm sorry I'm a long here but 3 efing years? Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually it is very painfull now and quite possibly painfull later also once this hits 10 billion or more because of the inevitable R/S that looms when the plant gets ready. They will have to reduce the O/S somehow and since it's a pink the easiest way to do this is to R/S and if he goes this route then no matter the success of the Berlin project the shareholders that sticks around will eventually be "rewarded" with the split that will dessimate their investment. Laidlaws management should be very very carefull with what they are doing. It doesnt appear they care much at present.
All this dillution has to drop this further. I will re-evaluate at .0003
I'm on a buying freeze until this dillution ends
It's "The Wagering Network" of which BKMP owns 14.8% of it. Nothing ever came of it though.
Oops Sorry libel that was meant for someone else. Again my apologies. V
You people are amazing!!!!!! The A/S HAS NOT CHANGED. There is no freaking dillution. NOTHING !!!!!! Maybe just maybe that nothing is happening at present ans MM's are just trying to get shares to make a market. Seems completely obvious. You so-called shareholders need to get a grip!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure the citizenry of Berlin once given the facts will eventually come to the conclusion that mistakes were made in electing these people and I'm also sure that they are starting to realize it now. The "CEO" and the rest of Laidaw's hierarchy did present their proposals to the town council and were met with applause from the citizens who attended and from what I hear and read was a full house. Why do you continue to say LLEG didnt reach out to the community? It doesnt matter when they did ,it matters that they did. It's simply not true!I don't have the link to the local news article that proves it but I'm sure some here do have it. Is Clean Power providing you with a fee for your lobbying efforts?
Sort of makes one wonder what would happen to the opposition's thinking if LLEG took their opportunity to another more appreciative town and the Clean Power plant never materializes. I'm sure the good people of Berlin would be most disgusted with their leaders for missing this valuable opportunity. That scenario has happened many times. LLEG's project is much further along, has the site, has the backing of NH power authority, as well as county commisioners and a good chunk of the Berlin population. If LLEG leaves there is a real possibilty that Clean Power never materializes due to money issues, site concerns, permitting issues, and the backlash of Clean Power's lobbying efforts against LLEG. There will be hell to pay and the leaders will probably get run out of town. Golden opportunities like LLEG will not come their way anymore and they will be left to contemplate what could have been if not for a few short-sighted individuals that quite frankly care little for the bottom line of Berlin's hard-pressed citizens.
"The project in Berlin, initiated by PSNH, has a potential to make massive amounts of money (mostly from grants and tax incentives but who cares)."
I'm sure the people who live in this small town cares. This town was built around this plant and is perfectly suited for it to operate once more.Berlin is Berlin because of this plant. The people need jobs and this will create them and also supply the town town with much needed commerce on many levels. I believe that the town leaders ran on the platform to keep LLEG out. Is that the kind of fiscal responsibility Berlin needs???????? I doubt it. The leaders who are against LLEG, in my opinion, have a monetary interest in Clean Power and thus the reason for the smear campaign against LLEG. The conversarial relationship between LLEG and Berlins leaders was fomented by the leaders not LLEG. I'm sure once this is retrofitted and operational people will be more at ease because they will actually have money left over after paying the bills and feeding their families. From the articles and opinions I've read ,it appears your opinions are in the minority. Are you being paid fees by Clean Power?
VDB thank you for making my point.
And every one of those 200 trucks has a driver who has a wallet with money in it that will be spent in Berlin. Correct?
If the Hoover damn was not permited and built then there would be no Vegas
Many of the towns we know about would not be there if it wasnt for the railroads in the 1800's. Thats how large cities are made as well as small towns. The longer the industy is around the town the larger the towns become. That's how towns turn into cities.Central industries beget's other connected industries
That is absolutely true. I have conducted many air pollution tests on Pulp and Paper mlls all over the country .The biggest complaint is not the plant per se but the smell associated with it. I have seen many small towns with a singular indusrty in the heart of the town (Colstrip Montana for instance). The longer these plants are allowed to operate the larger the town becomes. When these facilities shut down the town usully follows suit because the majority of the townfolk work at the plant. They will move to where the jobs are. Usually the plant is built first then the workers build homes around it. Sure they say 40 jobs will be created when operational, however it takes people the retrofit the boiler and site, drivers, construction workers, landscapers, lumber yard workers, office personel electricians, mechanics, and many many more diciplines that indirectly and directly will benefit Berlin and it's inhabitants. So those 40 jobs in reality probably means hundreds.
I was just wondering where Berlin would be if these naysayers got their way when the Pulp mill was being proposed. Would they still object knowing the prosperity that Berlin enjoyed while the plant was operating?
It's funny that the Pulp and paper mill have been there for years. I wonder how many complaints there were when the people actually had jobs at the plant and were able to feed there kids. If the plant was permitted then I see no reason why it wont be permitted now. I wonder how much the town of Berlin grew because of the working plant and how much it has withered without it.
