What are your thoughts on the pullback today?
Best post of the day. I see you don't post much but thanks for your thoughts. I feel the same.
I agree on the fact that I do not think they are selling because of bad numbers. If I owned this company, I would be thinking about my family. They have sold enough shares to take care of their families if another Andrew comes through and the company goes poof. They know the risks of this company even more than we do. It could all just be gone in a matter of hours but that is the risk we are willing to take. I guess we all just have to wonder until the numbers are released.
Welcome. I am now no longer the newest poster on this board. Just sit back and take in all of the knowledge thrown around on a daily basis on this board. The money will take care of itself.
While this was the case last year, the high that is setting up will not allow the storms to curve. The pattern this year will be more like 2004 and 2005 when storms develop.
I hope so. I won't be so caught off guard this time.
In regards to that debt, I know one of the loans has a large payment due sometime soon. Does anyone remember when that was? If I remember correctly it was one large payment this year and one large payment at the end (in a few years)Just wondering. Thanks TFN
Scottrade has it the same. It has a price but no bid or ask or anything else.
Picked some up at .69. There has been quite a bit of talk about solar lately.
Exactly, because once its absorbed who really cares. Now I do expect more insider sales once we have our next run up after earinings. We will just see if we can continue to absorb those sales with no significant pullback.
I am pretty sure that those 947000 shares went to someone because they came in the afterhours all at once. Meier must have worked out some sort of deal. Even if not then the total number of shares all of these guys unloaded is nothing compared to what they hold. They probably decided it was time to enjoy a little bit of the good life in the FLA and scraped a little off the top. This doesn't bother me at all. In fact it subtracts a little of the potential volatility by spreading these shares around to more investors. The raised dividend is a great sign of good earnings not only for this quarter but going forward. That will put us up to 20 cents for the year and we may even get another one before the year runs out.
I bought this last week after reading one of Jaybird's posts. I like the additional store expansion goin on with Celadrin. I think this could be a winner for sure.
I picked up some IAGX at the beginning of last week. This may take a few quarters to fully develop with ongoing rollout but I like its chances.
A flat tax or fair tax would be fantastic. Hopefully one day.
Wife/Girlfriends don't count in Vegas. Only randoms are deductible.
ANTP: Looks to be on its way to your target jaybird.
Oh yeah and there was no dividend paid this quarter.
You are correct about not wanting a storm because my house's deductible is worth more than my position in this stock! I think we move up from here and test new highs because of the divi date. After that we will continue to ride the volatility of this stock. In my opinion, if the storms of 2004 and 2005 didn't put these guys out of business then it would take something we have never seen before to do it. They have positioned themselves across the state very nicely so as to not take to much risk in South Florida. (Only 25% of policies are in South Florida if I remember correctly......Whereas TCHC has like 80%)The comps from last Q2 are pathetic (.05) and UVE should be a lock to blow them away. Some people are claiming that the reinsurance costs are rising but in fact they have gone down. The overall costs have gone up but when you take into account the additional policies written they have fallen from $209 a policy to $180. The state threatened to do something about insurance rates but when push came to shove they produced nothing. In my opinion, the reduction in rates for the homeowners cancels out the reduction in rates for the reinsurance and you end up at square one. The only difference is that you are talking about 300000+ policies instead of 100000+. As long as UVE hasn't lost policies for the second quarter (which I would be seriously surprised to see) the #'s should be outstanding. This is all my opinion but hopefully I am seeing this correctly. TFN
ANTP briefly broke 7 and has pulled back slightly but seems to be trading strong. Hopefully Jay is right on this one with increased backlog.
Once we get past the 6.70-6.80 range this thing is bound to hit new highs. Its just having a hard time with that resistance. Im looking for a run sometime in the next week into the divi date.
I'm not even sure that George buys the whole ethanol thing but with the pressure he constantly gets on his oil connections he really had no choice. The whole thing is such a joke it makes me want to throw my tv through the window. (Along with this world concert for global warming)
Believe it or not this has become a huge business. If someone needed the funds to pay for medical bills it would be a good move. Its better than leaving your family stuck with the bills after your death. Its kind of in that reverse mortgage genre. Still kind of weird.
ANTP: Another strong day today.
The combination of the backlog and the insider buying make this a no brainer in my opinion.
I picked up some of this yesterday. I think it looks good for bounce back up.
Form 4 filed today. Old news though.
Thanks for adding to the board H-C.
I have looked into NTRZ several times but could never get myself to pull the trigger. The insider buys have made it a little easier and I was thinking about picking up some shares this week.
ASAM: I made a quick board for these guys. I want to see if anyone knows anything of detail about them. I just think that the expansion into several new states over the past year will continue to grow revs.
I created this board to see if anyone out there knew much about these guys. I thought they looked interesting. Looks like revs are growing and they have expanded to additional states over the last year including California and Florida. I bought some shares little while back and it has sat pretty flat. I am thinking about adding some more because I think the additional expansion is going pay off down the road. Let me know.
This happens sometimes with pennies but you don't really see it on up the food chain.
APNO: I hope you are right with GE thing. I bought a little of this at $1.11 right after you first posted.
APNO: Any idea on what those large purchases were yesterday that caused it to jump? It came back to earth today but you've got to believe that something is going on. No one would buy that much of this stock with its minimal liquidity if something were not up. Hopefully we find out next week.
UVE: You are right on the policies. The only time they don't write is if a storm is in the Atlantic Basin. Otherwise its business as usual. After the storm passes they just have a bigger backlog. As long as they keep adding policies this reinsurance is a better deal. It is not going to really help because they have lowered the rates they charge their customers at the same time. It should be a wash. Regardless they should beat last years Q2 very easily.
Sorry about that. trying to type on my treo when I'm out of town takes all of my brain power.
If you take the time to do the math it actually is a lower rate. They have gone from 110000 policies to 310000 policies. Of course the total amount went up but you have to figure it on a per policy basis. Otherwise it would be like going to Mcdonalds and ordering a 20 pc nuggets and expecting it to cost the same as a 6 pc. You will pay more overall but less per nugget.
reinsurance rates actually went down. from 209 to 180 per policy. hurricanes are a real risk
I don't own HSOA nor do I care to but I think KIK was just posting an article. I didn't really see this as vicious. If you have nothing to hide then who really cares if its all laid out on the table. Just my observation.
