I see that some things never change Dew Diligence!
I have not checked IHUB for a long time, and the first thing I see when I check in is your message trying to make fun of a post I made some years ago; a post which I must add was 100% correct in spite of your criticism!..
At any rate, I just wanted to say Hi and I note that IHUB is still about the same as ever, which is a good thing these days. Unlike IHUB, the DNDN IV board is about to get destroyed by Ocyan and SaulK who have set up their own private Yahoo group board and are inviting people from the IV board to join them there instead of on the IV board.....
What is happening???
All of a sudden this thing has come to life wuith a vengeance! Anyone has any idea besides the usual January effect whereby oversold stocks for tax-loss reasons in the previous year recover in January. I did not think their recent FOB announcement were that spectacular but maybe I am missing something...
I do not trust this management anymore so I have not jumped back on the bandwagon, but perhaps someone has gotten wind of an imminent takeover by LFB at a premium...
It is now a tax-loss stock...
At this rate I can see it hitting $0.5 by year-end! What a horrible way to kill a good company this was, and management is to blame 100% for it...
Clearly we will eventually be lunch for LFB; the question is at what point will this become a buy for a possible premium when LFB decides to buy the crums..
Re: GTC cuts 45 workers, lines up retention bonuses for execs
It seems to me that this is the last arrangements being done before a full fledged takeover, or reverse merger, by LFB...
The only question remaining is whether or not this will be done at a premium...
Re: H1N1
I do not understand why they have not made a test available to check for the antibodies against the H1N1 virus? Such a test will probably clear a large part of the population and, therefore, there will not be a shortage of vaccines in that case...
If there was such a test available, I for one would be more than willing to pay for it in the hope of avoiding the vaccine and its potential side effects while still having immuninity to H1N1...
The DNDN week-end mystery...
In SEC filings today, DNDN announced that it has appointed two new high caliber directors, namely Ian Clark, the new CEO of Genentech, and Petro Granadillo, formerly a senior VP at Eli Lilly and now independent....
Prior to that, the board had only 7 members, so this addition seems to indicate that DNDN has already signed a ROW partnership agreement (with DNA/Roche), and that the partner has taken about a 25% equity stake in DNDN, thus given him the privilige of appointing two new board members without requiring a shareholder vote for the new board members...
Is the above plausible and is it the only possible explanation regarding the sudden appointement of two new board members not requiring a shareholder vote? Also, is it legal for DNDN to do so without issuing a PR since, according to the filings, the new board members were appointed two days ago? Does all of this mean that we must have a partner announced by early monday morning?
Looks like it is heading back below $1...
What a sad and miserable story for shareholders this has been, while being a good "cash goat" for management and LFB. Truly sickening...
The DNDN crowds may soon drift from IVillage to IHUB...
The IV site has become much too slow for communication, which is unfortunate in a month where much is about to take place with DNDN...
Great find io_io...
It does seem that the NAVY in conjunction with the Army are getting ready to fund the trials for VICL's H1N1 vaccines...
However, from the read of it, it does not seem to be something that would help with this year's vaccination issues although I may be wrong...
Note: I am going to post this article on the IV board and give you credit for it...
I am elated about the MEDX buyout since I am loaded on call options at $10, $11, and $12 on the basis that I considered it a prime takeover candidate for some time. However, I am surprised it did not fetch a much higher premium as in the $20s...
I voted against as well! Voting for the proposal means that LFB takes full control and will have enough votes to proceed as they wish in the future. Voting against may force LFB to come up with a decent offer in the future to take over GTCB...
I suspect it will pass however...
Are they panicked about the upcoming vote???
I have three accounts that I have traded GTCB in and, although I have mostly sold out, I am still a share holder of record as of the date for voting. Well, in the last couple of days I have received already 4 phone calls on behalf of GTCB asking me if I would want to vote my shares over the phone and coaxing me to consider management's recommendation...
Besides the annoying feature of these calls, it makes me wonder if management is getting panicked that the vote will not go through...
I sold most of my position today...
I took a loss but luckily I got out above $2. I still think that eventually GTCB will be taken over by LFB at a premium, but I suspect the stock will keep drifting down until the end of July when the special shareholder meeting will take place to OK the LFB shares...
My gut feeling is that we will be approaching $1 by the end of July, at which point I may get back in...
Re: CRP and heart disease...
This is very interesting and I have always argued with doctors about the fact that an elevated CRP does not necessarilly mean heart disease, only that an inflamation exists somewhere in the body. For instance people with neuropathy will generally have an elevated CRP even if their heart is fine...
You however bring up an intriguing point iwfal if I understand you correctly. Namely that a perpetual inflamation meassured by the CRP, even if generic in nature and unrelated to the heart, could eventually put stress on the heart and cause heart disease. If that is true, then reducing the CRP level could mitigate that problem perhaps...
So Proellex is mostly dead for the foreseable future. The question is: how is Androxal doing?
I always thought androxal was a better bet but I have not followed the company for while...
Can someone translate the DSCO news to English??
I realize the stock is cooked, or burnt is a better word, and thank God I was not in it this time around. However, I am having trouble figuring out what they are saying when they say:
"Discovery Labs learned that the FDA will now apply a newly-defined standard to determine whether Discovery Labs has adequately demonstrated comparability of Surfaxin clinical to commercial drug product. This new standard represents a significant hurdle for approval of Surfaxin."
Does that mean that the FDA does not think that DSCO has demonstrated that the stuff used in the trial is the ssame stuff they are currently manufacturing? Or does it mean that their trials are not valid? Or what???
TIA
Are you jealous poorgradstudent?
I have no reason to lie or to boast about my returns this year but if you want you can go back and check all my posts on the IV DNDN board as well as on the IHUB GTCB board from the beginning of the year to see that I am actually telling the truth regarding my whopping returns this year because I usually telegraph my trades...
I have made many good trades this year and I was on a roll until the last couple of weeks but my three best trades where DNDN, Oil, and GTCB at the beginning of the year. With GTCB, I bought my last batch at near $0.13 and sold most of that near $0.7 within a couple of months. I bought the oil ETFs (DXO and UCO) when oil was at $33 at the beginning of the year and sold those lately when oil was over $70. As for DNDN, I am sure you must know that this was by far the best trade this year. Besides stock, in my particular case I had bought cheap call options before the final results for $0.3 and sold them two days later after the final results for over $10. I am sure you can check all that by tracing my posts...
Thank you Dew for clarifying the mechanics of a possible LFB tender offer...
Pitiful Volume...
No sellers, no buyers, everyone is waiting for something...
At least we seem to have established a floor at this level...
Re: GTC Biotherapeutics Enters Agreements with LFB for Funding...
I consider this as great news. We are rid of GE and now our sole benefactor is LFB, which will eventually take control of GTCB. We do not have to worry about cash anymore and now GTCB can focus on its pipeline...
Essentially LFB has become the defacto majority shareholder of GTCB, which I think is great and much better than being at the mercy of Cox...
One more thought: I think all along this has been the plan of Cox, namley to secure his future with LFB...
