Positive movement: Add SGMO - up 10+%
tourburn
Jim Cramer and SGMO - LOL
During his Oct. 22 show's lightning round, a caller asked about SGMO. Cramer correctly discussed their zinc finger technology but told the caller to SellSellSell SGMO and buy CELG instead. Of course, 2 days later CELG missed their revenue numbers and took a 10% hit. SGMO has gone from 15+ to 19+ in that short timeframe.

SGMO - yep, it's hot.
They have nothing but exciting initiatives to report at conferences in Nov. and at their investor's day on Dec. 3rd. Given the space they are working in, this could become a "darling" stock.

Check the action in SGMO

Surf,
Just started hanging out on Hot Biotechs. Question: in the stockchart scans you've been doing, has it seemed that there are a larger number of biotechs hitting the scans? If the numbers are getting larger, do you think it is seasonal or are other forces at work?
TIA,
tourburn
SGMO certainly qualifies as a hot biotech. Very strong moves with no news. They will be touting some interesting phase 1 starts in brain cancer and HIV in a couple months. There might also be some phase 2 results by year end for their first drug.

daved - think SGMO will hit new high on the 22nd? Good action yesterday.

Saul,
With all the sniping and petty feuds on this board (opps, I mean discussions), I just want to say, "You, da man!"
tourburn
Aschoff still is embarrassing himself.
I like that he's still spreading his lies. It means that someone big still has some charred skin in the game on the wrong side.
tourburn
Yep. And those other boards are the perfect place to discuss mergers with DNA.
tourburn
Damn, Walldiver, that was a great summary.
tourburn
Sorry to have missed the segment. Mind sharing with the board your CNBC moment? I noticed a blip in DNDN about that time.

When the FDA says yes in 2007....
Bio_Tech_Boss
I've been sitting here quietly - just want to state here that I think your post is dead on.

Gametheory101,
I, too, am intriqued by the extended time for the trial. Wasn't the original target for this 1H06?

<Cross-over is less of any issue, because it only causesd provenge to appear less effective than it would have been without the crossover. Bulls, bears and shorts seem to agree on this one.>
That's my point. We end up questioning the support that 9902A gives the 9901 results. But the results deal more with whether early Provenge is better than later Provenge (as a result of the crossovers). Meanwhile the FDA decision is to determine if Provenge should be provided at all.
Those Confounding Crossovers
I've been reading all of the discussions from the DNDN bulls and (let's just call them) non-bulls re: the biostatistical aspects of the DNDN trials vs. FDA rigidity. These discussions seem to ignore the very high level of crossovers in the trials - will this be the case as well when DNDN takes Provenge before any advisory committee? Given the low numbers of placebo non-crossovers, the trials have this Provenge Now vs. Provenge Later comparison baked into the KM curves. How can an advisory committee not take this into account? Without referring to nomograms (sp?), what really can be proved here?

Nice work, Ocyanblue. 'Preciate it.

My gold (and silver) pick is CDE. It's done well for me. Of course, it has some controversy also. I guess I'm attracted to that aspect in my investments.

Re: Interesting coincidence
<I am honestly atounded that we have failed to pick up additional coverage off the JCO publication and am beginning to question why DNDN hasn't found a permanent CFO replacement. After losing 2 CFOs in such a short period, my suspicion is that WS has taken notice of this prolonged vacancy. This is pure speculation on my part as I have no first hand knowledge in this area. Any thoughts as to why we still don't seem to be receiving the respect from WS commensurate with a company at our stage in the cycle?>
DNDN does not receive coverage and respect from WS because the brokers would rather not upset their much more powerful hedge pals. It's not going to happen until the short HFs move on. I'm more honestly astounded that the HFs continue to hold on to their large short position.
On the other hand, for a couple of weeks now, it's clear to me in the trading that someone is using any sharp dips in the share price intraday to buy DNDN. Also, there is much more supporting games being played in the final 2 minutes than before. I'm encouraged by this newer pattern.

Re: Hedge your positions
I think that the oil market is telling us that regional war is unlikely. As for Al Qaeda, I'm a little surprised that they had not weighed in before this (actually, it might be an indication how disrupted their command and control is). They've got targets on any and everyone they hate already, so I don't think they needed extra, double-secret, Jihad probation as an excuse for more terror.
I do agree with your idea of having some global geo-political hedge going at all times. For me, I have a portion of my non-DNDN :) portfolio in gold.

What is it about 2:30?
Even on a day with a nice move up, somebody out there takes a whack at the pps around the 2:30 timeframe. Does someone out there have a take on why this is? I would think that it's a little early before the close for the daytraders.

Lurker Alert! The YMB truely sucks so I'm over here now. I tend to post about 3 times/week - just call me a lurker. I don't see a sentiment indicator. Anyhow, I'm very positive on DNDN (with a 12-month timeline).
