I don't want drilling in Alaska but it's not because I live there. It's because we need to not only preserve our wild places, but also because we need to move to other types of energy. The less we rely on oil, the less we depend on imports and the less we need to tear up our own country trying to eliminate a very small percentage of those imports. Don't get me started on people who buy an big 8 cylinder SUV only because they wouldn't feel as cool or powerful driving a station wagon or a minivan....
Thanks. According to that, the Buddah was born May 19th. And May 20th too. I guess we should see a big spike in Asian sales starting late April? (just kidding folks, just kidding)
So what time of year is Buddah's Birthday?
My thoughts, I haven't got a clue. Although looking at the pictures that were just posted, I'd say the O-1000 has a much nicer look, especially the display.
Whoops. Caught you in an incorrect cliche. Many people go around thinking its "doggie dog" because its hard to tell the difference when spoken. Only when written does it become obvious. The correct phrase is actually "...dog eat dog...". If it makes you feel any better I had to look up vituperative in the dictionary. Thanks for increasing my vocabulary.
Ha, I get my Parade Magazine delivered Saturday Afternoon along with the rest of the Sunday Supplements. Sunday morning the rest of the paper (hard news) shows up. Lets hope we build and sell some of these puppies.
Boy what a crappy day. eDig tanking and the GOP in control of the government. I think its time for me to tune out for awhile and concentrate on the little things that make life worthwhile.
Yeah, I don't think any of us saw this coming. Even if it doesn't make a whole lot of money, its great exposure, especially if all these passengers are enjoying their entertainment devices and somewhere on them it says "Powered by e.Digital".
You catch a falling knife with the floor.
Now... if a share price falls in the forest and there's nobody there to hear it, does it make a sound? Yes, because there are always squirrels around, and they too have ears, even if they are very tiny.
The folks at WeDig have fixed my account so that I can now log in. If any of you are still having problems, I'd recommend sending them an email at the user help address on the website.
Has anyone actually seen an edig product in a college bookstore?
I think its understood the beer money is the first priority in college.
I guess the one good thing about the price snafu is, anyone interested in the Silouette at $149 will be pleasantly surprised when they find out its really 20 bucks cheaper.
I went back and edited my previous post when I realized that the web release did say $149. However the emails are wrong, although I didn't get any languages in mine other than American English or an approximation thereof.
I think I know what Marc is getting at in regard to being late for college. The kids show up at the start of the school year with a bunch of money in their pockets and head to the bookstore and buy buy buy. I'm sure that he is correct that as the school year goes on they have less to spend, especially on non-essentials like MP3 players.
"All Silhouette packages include a user guide, portable stereo earphones, a wired remote control, an AC adaptor/charger, a carrying case, and two rechargeable stick type NiMH batteries that provide up to 10 hours of playback time per charge. The Silhouette retails for $129 MSRP."
Agreed it should have been there ahead of the news. Here's the weird part though. The press release that I got by email says it retails for $129, but at the edig store you have to pay... $149! Looks like they got the public press release right at least.
The player IS on the website in the store. Here's the picture. http://store1.yimg.com/I/edig_1710_65510
Wedig is still not letting me log on. I wrote again asking for my password in case I misstyped it when I set up the account. I did get an email reply immediately and it showed that my password is exactly what I thought it was, and it still doesn't work.
Actually those were not frozen turkeys they dropped on WKRP, they were live. They expected them to glide gracefully to the ground, not knowing that fattened farm raised turkeys can't fly.
The Air Force shoots frozen chickens out of a special cannon to test canopies. We could strap an Odyssey to one of those but you wouldn't be able to tell what it was afterwards.
The Bugbear virus, like many others, sends itself out to addresses it finds in computers that it infects. It may also use files and file names it finds on those computers as subjects and attachment names. I actually had the Klez virus sent to me by... myself. At least that's what it said on the surface, but upon further research it was actually from someone in an online group I'm a part of.
So in other words, you probably weren't specifically targeted. Just like in real life, someone you know got sick and passed it on to you.
Since we're using baseball metaphors, let's hope edig perseveres through adversity like the 2002 NL Central Champion Saint Louis Cardinals.
Go Redbirds!!
The problem with my Treo 10 popped up again.
Luis at customer service was very helpful, but as I had suspected, there's no fixing the one I have. I'm going to have to ship it back and they'll send me a new one. Oh well, that's what I get for buying refurbished.
Hmm, maybe they'll send me a NEW new one and not another refurbished one for my trouble.
Update on my Treo 10
After loading about half a gig of files to my Treo 10 I ran into a problem where the Music Explorter kept coming up with an error message and wouldn't load any more files. I had read the instructions all the way through before I'd ever turned it on, believe it or not, so I was sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. After many unsuccessful tries, I called edig support.
It was late on a Sunday Evening, but there was a women there on duty who tried to help me. Unfortunately, she didn't know any more about the product than I did. It was obvious she was just going by some kind of checklist. So she told me I'd be contacted by a technician the next day.
Unfortunately I wasn't at home when they called, but they left a message with a name and phone number to call. Just for the heck of it, I decided to try loading a file to the player one more time, and this time for some reason it worked. It seemed to me that there was a spot on the hard drive that it was just having a hard time writing to, and once it was over the hump so to speak, everything was fine. This is a remanufactured Treo by the way, so that may have had something to do with it.
Anyway, the tier 2 tech support guys kept calling until I finally talked to one. I told him the whole story and he said to hang on to the number and call in case the problem cropped up again. Now I'm up to about 1 gig used and all is well.
I brought the Treo into work one night and hooked it up to the stereo in our shop and let it play for a few hours. Sounded great, everyone was impressed, and several asked where I'd gotten it and told me they'd check out the online store.

About those cigars... the following from the Urban Legends Reference Pages:
Claim: A cigar aficionado insures his stogies against fire, then tries to collect from his insurance company after he smokes them.
Status: False.
Example: [Collected on the Internet, 1997]
A cigar smoker bought several hundred expensive stogies and had them insured against fire. After he'd smoked them all, he filed a claim, pointing out that the cigars had been destroyed by fire. The company refused to pay, and the man sued. A judge ruled that because the insurance company had agreed to insure against fire, it was legally responsible. So the company paid the claim. And when the man accepted the money, the company had him arrested for arson.
Origins: This legend began its Internet life after it was posted to the newsgroup alt.smokers.cigars in early 1996, and it has continued to circulate as a "true story" in newsgroups and e-mail ever since, despite its having been identified as an "urban legend" when it was first posted. The version posted was, in fact, nearly identical to one that has been circulating since at least the mid-1960s:
A man bought several boxes of cigars and had them insured against fire. When he had smoked them, he put in a claim against the insurance company that they had been destroyed by fire.
The company refused to pay, and the man sued. The judge ruled that the company had given the man a policy protecting against fire, and must pay.
As soon as the man accepted the money, the company had him arrested on a charge of arson.
Another anecdote from the same 1965 volume suggests this legend stems from a joke whose basic premise has been used in a few different ways:
"He's the kind of accountant you've got to admire. Last year he deducted eighty cartons of cigarettes from my income tax. Called it loss by fire!"
Insurance policies are generally written so that deliberate actions on the part of the policyholders cannot trigger payouts. Furthermore, destroying your own property isn't arson, as long as the act isn't intended to defraud anyone. If a court had already ruled that the insurance company was required to pay, then obviously no fraud was committed, and thus the burning could not be considered arson.
The structure of this legend -- a person's exploiting a regulation for personal gain, then being punished under an unforeseen aspect of that regulation -- is similar to the collegiate legend about cakes and ale.

Speaking of the Treo 10, I just got mine in the mail a few minutes ago. My first DAP! Can't wait to start using it.
I'm just wondering why all four reviews are very good, 4.5 or better, but the overall rating is only 2.9 based on two ratings. Why don't they include the ratings of the reviewers with the overall ratings? The ratings are the first thing you see, and from that you'd never know that anyone liked the product at all!
That Is All
Edig products are no longer in the Tiger Direct Catalog. They aren't at Tiger Direct.com either. There is an iRiver DataPlay device though.
Quite a bump in share price today so far. High volume and up 25% at one point. Hmmm, more Odyssey reaction or is something new about to happen?
Look how long cassettes hung on after CDs were introduced.
What are "...VC guys..."?
Too... many... numbers...
...brain... imploding...
Agreed, I don't think they would have gone ahead with this plan without a definite idea of how it would be financed, either from the outside or from increased earnings that we have yet to see.
Boy, this brought back memories. In the town I grew up in, on Main Street there was an A&P and a Woolworths. A couple miles away there was a Korvettes.
Oh sure, now I'm outranked, I'm still an E-6 (ANG). Congratulations MSgt. Here, let me pin those on for you... :)
After further review, I decided not to post my original message, and I can't figure out how to delete the whole thing. So... how's everyone doing? Some weather we're having, eh? Have a nice day etc.
Methinks we might make up some ground today. Sounds like good news for our future.
Since we know the current products are good, my guess (and that's all it is) would be a problem with DataPlay.
Way down. Why?
The new Tiger Direct Catalog is here!
It showed up in the mail today, and all the e.digital products are grouped together taking up half a page in the multimedia section. But the best thing is that above the products in bold letters it says, and I quote:
e.Digital SUPER DIGITAL AUDIO PERFORMANCE!
Glad to see e.digital on the Tiger Direct web site. I buy most of my computer stuff from them, including the computer I'm using right now. Hopefully we'll see some e.digital products in their next printed catalog.
Dave
Smay, I wish I could buy one each of e.digital's products too, but you have to realize that not all of us have that kind of money. I buy edig stock in small amounts as I am able. Someday soon I hope to fit an MP2000 into the budget too. Heck, if the price of the stock goes up, maybe I can sell a few and get a Treo as well!
