APE is jumping a bit after hours...
haha.... while reading your post, I was humming the Batman theme song and kept seeing the names Adam West and Burt Ward flash by the screen...... BAM, KAPOW, GADZOOKS :)
Just some thoughts I've been thinking about over the weekend based on the "what if" scenario about synthetic shares, naked shorts, etc...
For those who trade AMC on margin and have brokers who have not dispersed APE shares, their value should drop by ~ 1/2 on Monday. Without the APE shares, they will most likely get margin calls as their account value will drop in half. Ouch!
Why are some brokers dispersing and others not? Could it be that brokers like TDA have 'over' lent out their shares for shorting, or are more involved in 'synthetic' share trades?
And if there are synthetic shares, what in the world happens to those AMC holders who don't get APE?
If there are synthetic shares/tons of naked shorting, that should still facilitate an AMC squeeze AND and APE squeeze.
Wow, lot to think about if any of the "what if" theories talked about are true...
Nothing from TDA yet...
I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out who in their right mind would sell their shares today....
Here's the last email I received from TDA -
-------------------------------------------------------------
Hello XXXXX,
Thank you for your follow-up message!
The record date (8/15/2022) in a special dividend situation is useless, if an individual sells shares in the time period between the record date and the ex-dividend date, they will lose their rights to the dividend through a due bill process transferring ownership of those shares to another individual. You can read on this topic here: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/duebill.asp
Per AMC's announcement, the shares are to be issued close of business on August 19th, 2022 which would make that the ex-dividend date with shares showing up on or after (depending on AMC's time frame of delivery of their shares) 8/22/2022. AMC also directly states that this is a special dividend, which follows a slightly different timeline per exchange rules than a normal dividend. You can read the direct language here: https://investor.amctheatres.com/newsroom/news-details/2022/AMC-Entertainment-Holdings-Inc.-Announces-Special-Dividend-of-AMC-Preferred-Equity-Units/default.aspx
In a normal dividend situation, the ex-date is one day prior to the record date, and the stock adjusts for the dividend on the ex-date. This is due to settlement on stock trades being T+2 business days, and to be a holder of record on 8/15, for example, the trade would have needed to be placed on 8/11 to qualify.
In a special dividend the rules change to prevent a pre-emptive drop in the underlying stock from people buying into the special dividend and then dumping shares prior to the payable and stock price adjustment occur. This means that selling the shares prior to the day before the shares are issued would result in no longer being entitled to the dividend.
Respectfully,
Jason Glaze

TDA responded to me in writing. This has me so confused... what is a "late Ex-Date event" and can TDA delay this?
----------------------------------------------------
Happy Friday! My name is Jason, and I hope this message finds you well.
Should the shares be delivered to us by the agent on that date, that is when they will be posted to the account. Please note that the following information is subject to change by AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. (AMC). The information below is what has been communicated thus far. At this time, we have not been provided additional information or a timeline of when potential updates will be made available.
AMC has announced it is affecting a spin-off of AMC Preferred Equity Units. This is a late Ex-Date event, which means shares need to be purchased at least one business day prior to the ex-date of 8/22/2022 to qualify for the spin-off units distributed at a rate of 1 for 1. TD Ameritrade has been informed that the distribution will be paid in shares of APE and that there is not an option to elect cash.
Please do not hesitate to check back with us for potential updates. You may also consider reaching out to AMC's Investor Relations team for updates and additional information.
Thank you for choosing TD Ameritrade. We appreciate your business Ron, and hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and week! You say there is no such thing as a synthetic share.... then I have to ask, what's a naked short?
I reached out to TDAmeritrade about the APE dividend and here is the reply I received"
--------------------------------
Thank you for writing in regarding your AMC stock held here at TD Ameritrade. My name is Ruth and I'm happy to help.
The information we have at this time shows that AMC has declared a special dividend of one AMC Preferred Equity unit (an "AMC Preferred Equity Unit") for each share of AMC Class A common stock, par value $0.01 per share (the "Common Stock"), outstanding at the close of business on August 15, 2022. The special dividend is expected to be paid at the close of business on August 19, 2022.
There would not be anything extra you need to do to receive shares. We would post the shares to all eligible accounts as fast as possible once we receive them.
I have linked the press release for you below. We do not have any additional details at this time. Please note that this is subject to change based on any updates received from AMC.

This whole APE stock poses an interesting question. If the assumption is that there are millions (some say billions) of counterfeit shares, then what do these shareholders do when the APE stock isn't delivered to them?
If AMC loses $X amount of value based on the issuance of APE and these shareholders aren't granted the APE shares on August 19th, what in the world do they do?
So I guess my question is - what happens to people who have synthetic shares? How would they get their preferred dividend?
Nice little AH pop....
Musings from a country boy -
1. Is the stock oversold? Yes, but the real question is by how much.
2. Is the stock being manipulated? Yes. The only reason my gut feels comfortable with is because the oversolders are fearful of what might happen
3. Will it mega-squeeze? Depends on what the true oversold number is.
4. Will it go up? Yes
5. Will it go down? Yes
I can look at this all night.....

It brings a smile to my face buying this stock 1 share at a time with no trading fee.....
The pre-market oil bid prices keep creeping up prior to trading...
The filings are a little confusing, they show code A in box 3 meaning a stock award, but they are also showing a price 0f $.8256.
All of the stock awards I've seen have had a price of $0. So is it an award or a purchase?
With these recent insider buys being posted today, I wouldn't be surprised if we hear some news next week...

lol.... I'm unfamiliar with hesg funds...
Holy Crap.....
It does NOT say they are doing a reverse split. It says they might look into a reverse split, plus cost cutting measures, etc.
It's verbiage that was used to give them their extension. Of course they would list that as a "potential". That by itself gives then an automatic extension....
Agreed
Busted .78..... Hooray
Quick question for the board....
With the large amount of shares available, is it possible that CHK might want to do a RS to get the total share amount more manageable?
Let me add that I am long with 19k shares @ $0.64 average
