Jasbg, the only way anyone would know about the function of any HF is to read their charter. You ASSUME too much about the operation of Sarissa. I doubt that AD would short a stock in his portfolio, he may hedge his positions using derivatives and keep in mind as LBL mentioned GS being pissed and are living up to their reputation as being total A--holes. Also have a sell rating on AMRN.
DAR/JRoon. Yup the filing of the proxy will prolly be in April then a 30 day vote period. The annual meeting announcing results and filing final proxy will bring us into early Q3. Everything takes time. Plus I believe certain rules exist while executing the buyback e g quiet periods and vwaps. So the answer to the question about blowing the wad at once ain't going to happen.
OK, LBL aka "Little Birdie", I'll give you the China call. They're in a death spiral Pres XI Jinping is kissing ass, after '24 we'll be in a better bargaining position. Given Denner's reputation for getting things done I've always believed his connections would pull us through to a positive place. Especially after the conversation I had with the proxy solicitor last yr.
Jasbg, the company can't start the buyback till shareholder approval which won't be till they get the results of the proxy vote. they estimate will be sometime in spring I'm hoping early spring rather than waiting till June.
Hey, LBL, with China's economy in the crapper why do you think they will be in the equation for growth? However, my instincts have been telling me there's something brewing. Branded generic in the USA will be the first dramatic move. Margins will be lower but they'll make it up in volume. The DEF14 can't come soon enough for the buyback. Normally, I despise buybacks it's just financial rigging to meet street EPS but in the case of Amarin it's significant and tells a deeper behind the scenes story. Please continue to keep us in the loop.
LBL, Holt may be conservation re the Germany approval since the prior management prolly f--kd up too many events leading to the disappointing denial of approval. Not to mention all the millions wasted with the assumption leading up to the termination of approval.
Your post is encouraging since it's in line with my belief the rollout in the EU was akin to a startup. Fortunately, we have no debt. Re the antitrust Reddys, it's BS. Thanks for the positive uptick on the China front. I'd given up on the Pacific rim with all the political turmoil.
Second half of 2024 will be fun to experience after so many years of disappointment.
I believe the company will fast track the annual meeting so they can start the buyback. ASAP.
Pls stay in touch!
seve, last I inquired at Fidelity they said they will not permit an acct to short this stock unless the account has a minimum of $2.50 in cash for each share shorted. Who in their right mind would short AMRN with that type of requirement? Fidelity considers it to risky given the past trading history of AMRN. Maybe requirements are different at the brokerage firm you use? You should ask them....
LBL, Glad to see you pop in to continue speaking good thoughts about our favorite subject. I think a little shmoozing in the breakouts after the conference will hopefully result in some of the analysts writing a positive report with a higher target price in 2024 than Yahoo's which I think is around $3...time will tell.
North, they usually file their Def 14A around April and annual meeting sometime in June or July. I hope we don't have to wait for annual meeting to vote for the buyback.
exwannabe, You're exactly right if the BOD didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel they never would have even suggested using $50mill for the buyback. They'll probably have a special shareholder vote soon. This action will at least put a floor on the NASDAQ $1 requirement as well. To remove the warning the stock has to close at $1.00 for 10 minimum of consecutive days within the 180 period.
newman, this link below was on twitter this morning. Amarin talks at 4.30 EST
https://jpmorgan.metameetings.net/events/healthcare24/sessions/49593-amarin-corporation-plc/webcast/general_signin?gpu_only=true&kiosk=true
jfmcrr, so sorry for your loss, sending sympathies to you and your family.
CBB, also keep in mind this buy back will automatically increase AD's holding's. Smart move on part of AD and of course the BOD's
zman, I found out why my 100 day V script went down over $100. Clover finally answered my call, CVS Caremark lowered the tier from 4 to 3!!! Yeah for me!
ramfan, your dog is my hero!!!🤣
zman, my health ins. is thru Clover Health they use CVS Caremmark as the Part D provider. It's a small healthcare co. but excellent coverage if you're on Medicare. FYI CVS does not offer a generic V. I'm hoping to find out eventually when they answer the phone why the price reduction.
zmanin, Today I received a pleasant surprise my script for V is ready for pickup. A little background first. For several yrs my script has been for a 3 month supply after ins. (CVS Caremark)I've been always paid out of pocket $247. Well, the usual text came informing me that my script is ready for pickup cost is now $135.00???
I called CVS Caremark, they have no idea why the cost went down. I tried calling my health ins but was put on hold for hours. Also, several months ago I was informed that there's a 100 day script available for same cost as a 3 month supply so I've been doing that as well.
Does anyone one know why my cost has decreased???? I read something over the wkend on IHub something changed with Medicare???
More of the same but thought I'd post it anyway

FYI, a recommendation from a biotech feed that's bullish on AMRN.

Interesting tweet by Scott Gotlieb re patent erosion by policy mistakes, keep in mind he's on the PFE board I'm sure he's aware of our little ole amrn debacle.
One observation on recent pharma dealmaking: It’s in spaces where there are natural barriers to entry, often owing to formulation, manufacturing complexity. That may not be a coincidence. We’ll see a bid put under these kinds of platforms as patents are eroded by policy mistakes
— Scott Gottlieb, MD (@ScottGottliebMD) December 26, 2023
dmiller, you know not of which you speak. What are you doing back on the amrn board? Go bother others on stocktwits or yahoo.
bidmark, the dirtbag medical research collaboration MRC has not been around for a while. As a friend once said "it doesn't make him a bad person cause he changed his name" LOL
Unfortunately, he was right but all for the wrong reasons. Geez after suffering with this stock for 5 yrs I'll think twice about buying another biotech....well maybe one more CRSP!!! LOL
north, re Gorman interview, I had forgotten how many brokerage firms MS acquired over the years. I worked for a few of them throughout my career. Yes indeed AD worked for MS and uses them as one of his prime broker accts. The IBX is so overdue for a move, it's good to see AMRN finally participating.
ramfan, I suspect that block trade which occurred after the close yesterday had been overhanging the stock for a while. Because of recent light volume, someone e.g. a prime broker was selling into the bids to get that sell order completed. Hopefully, this will be the bottom for a while. The stock has been bouncing off the bottom trend line for a while we are overdue for an uptick soon.
Mr stock, no offense taken. All trades are anonymous. The size of trade indicates it was a hedge fund. We won't know until a 13D is filed which will be 45 days after yr end.
anyone notice the block sale after the close of 3,757,302 @.8019, probably a yr end tax loss sale?
anyone on this board from DRL's region and can find a list of tinted drugs?

tatsu, is AD still considered an activist since he's accomplished his mission? A 13 G is a short form and can be filed instead of a 13D.
Do you actually believe Sarissa would jeopardize their position in amrn with every one of his crew on the BoD by NOT filing the proper forms with the SEC if they sold any of their shares?
Go watch a football game
tatsu, why would you make a totally inaccurate statement such as the one in your last post?
Dar53, AD definitely has not sold any shares. He would have to file 13G/A. Disregard all the FUD people post on ihub.
dar53, is this the information you're looking for? Scroll through the article it list several Sarissa account names.
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230117006186/en/Sarissa-Capital-Calls-Out-Amarin%E2%80%99s-Sham-Board-Refreshment
Dar53, the list of companies was filed in one of the proxy filings when AD was sending out the blue proxy cards. I may have printed out a few of the docs during that time, I'll look in my files later today.
ramfan, my best guess scenario is Morgan Stanley is one of Sarissa's prime broker accounts. The filing is probably cause they moved shares from one prime broker to another which would account for the reason why when searching for the total amt of shares Sarissa owns it's not all in Sarissa's name but in the prime broker's street account. It's probably a part of the 8.9% ownership that was reported this week.
denisk this is very interesting reading. Let me know if you can't open link.

north, Icahn's son is mainly doing the stock picking these days. I dipped my toes into CRSP wish me luck. Gene editing is the wave of the biotech future! It's only just begun.

jasbg, I was referring to the Jan 2025 options
Mmstreet, when I first started trading amrn in 2018 I wrote a bunch of calls cause of premium. I agree with you, anything to lower avg. Eventually we'll get sold but in the meantime gotta do what it takes to make a living!
Mmstreet, I'm looking at open interest. My screen shows the $5 strike with over 3300 open int. Vol starts from $1 to $5with over 10,000 open int.
I'd love to see the premium pop.
Actually I checked with fido as to why no stock to borrow they require $2.50 in cash for each share borrowed due to risk.
check out the activity in the Jan '25 call options. I tried to do a screen shot but FIDO won't let me do one. Bottom line it's encouraging.
