from CNN 10_31_07:
Technology has made pornography easier to produce and to distribute. By some estimates, pornography accounts for 40% of all Internet traffic and pay-TV sales. But, for shareholders at least, technology has yet to make pornography wildly profitable.
Playboy Enterprises (PLA, news, msgs) has seen its share price fall by 30% since the start of 2004, compared with a 39% gain in the S&P 500 Index ($INX). New Frontier Media (NOOF, news, msgs), a Boulder, Colo., business that distributes pornographic videos, trades lower than it did three years ago. And a smaller video distributor in Europe called Private Media (PRVT, news, msgs) trades where it did at the beginning of 2004, while the Russell 2000 Index ($RUT.X) of small-cap stocks has advanced more than 45% in the same time frame.
There are lots of reasons why: low-cost, high-quality digital-video cameras that have enabled small private companies; technology-enabled piracy of costlier content; and the abundance of free porn on the Internet.
But new technology appears to offer new hope for porn profits. Innovations such as video on demand (VOD) and faster cell-phone Internet access mean consumers will be better able to get the kind of porn they want, when and where they want it. That should boost sales for the publicly traded adult-entertainment companies supplying these channels.
On demand in demand
Playboy, New Frontier Media and other adult-video providers have sold pay-per-view content for years through cable and satellite partners such as Time Warner Cable (TWC, news, msgs), Comcast (CMCSA, news, msgs) and EchoStar Communications (DISH, news, msgs). But this delivery system has had one big shortcoming: Because specific content is pre-scheduled, it isn't always available when a user wants it.
But video on demand solves the problem, and consumers have responded. As New Frontier Media delicately put it in a recent filing, "Instant start times assure that an impulse demand results in a transaction, whereas with pay-per-view, the scheduled start time may not be synchronized to a viewer's requirements."
Private Media's chief operating officer, Peter Cohen, says adult entertainment "is particularly an impulse buy. So the on-demand functionality of VOD suits our content very well."
The numbers are impressive. Pay-television revenue overall was up just 1% at New Frontier Media in the first quarter, but VOD revenue jumped 10%. In the second quarter, overall pay-TV revenue at the company fell 17%, but VOD revenue was up 18% at New Frontier's biggest cable partner, and VOD sales were up at all of its top 10 cable partners. At Playboy, revenue weakness at the magazine and in pay-per-view TV has been offset by strength in VOD sales.

VOD offers other distinct advantages for adult-entertainment providers. VOD broadcasts can't be copied, so piracy is reduced. Also, it's easier to track consumer interests and behaviors with VOD.
"You get better and more specific actionable data about what works, and we have been responding to that," Playboy Enterprises Chief Executive Christie Hefner said in a recent conference call.
Cable providers have been rolling out VOD in the U.S. for several years. However, it has reached less than half the households that will be able to get it, so there is plenty of room for growth. In Europe, the potential is even bigger because cable operators there have lagged on offering VOD. Now, a new technology making up for the shortfall should help adult-entertainment companies deliver porn to viewers in the VOD format: Internet protocol television, or IPTV.

Undressing Playboy's plan
Playboy magazine is changing its digital business strategy and giving away more content online. The Wall Street Journal's Lee Hawkins explains why.
"Europe is projected to be the fastest-growing territory for this platform," Private Media's Cohen says. "Everybody has ramped up their activity with these new digital platforms. I think we will see it grow quite quickly now."
Hi folks, herbietheloveblog here!
How's everything going?
Money coming in hand over fist yet?
Last remote access to patient records show any nurses' porn?
Hello there, herbietheloveblog here.
I'm just checked in here after a few months away to see what's happening (no I dont have a position, sold medify pre-ptel). Just didn't have the stomach for it anymore. I'm now into buying/selling US Mint commemorative issues for fun and profit.
What I see/hear here is eerily de-ja-vu. e.g. "test phase"....Hmmm, gone from remote medical record access testing to porn testing.
Good luck all.
Naw, didnt get back in. Too burned out.
OK so I missed a X8, but I just dont have the "stamina" for any more roller coasters. Doing well in my day job though, and I seem to have a nose for trading coins. Jumping on hot items, and selling and getting out. Seems to work for me better.
Oh well, to each their own.
Good Luck folks.
Herbie

No regrets.

What the hell is with the "buh bye" bullshit I get when I try to log on to this board from my computer at work? I have ALWAYS been civil with this board, always taking the high road, carrying positive attitudes, and now I get "buh bye????"' Just because I sold my mdfy and only check in once in a while now I get "buh bye"??? What is the basis for this? This is unacceptable and CANNOT AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
This issue is now closed!
Hi just checking in. So I see we have another Power Engineer on thie board. Small world. Not too many of us around. Very specialized field.
So seems Medify has again aroused some hope. Well Good luck all. I am doing some much less "roller-coaster" things with my time and money lately.
I'm out. Bye everyone and good luck. Its been, well, very educational. I've tried to keep on the positive side while in, but reality has set in and I must move on. So today I sold my remaining 21,000 and some odd shares, and will concentrate on my work and home life. Best of luck to everyone.

The basic concept behind designing Rule 15c211 was to provide fully reporting public companies an easy way to have their securities quoted on the National Association of Securities Dealers' Over-the-Counter Bulletin Board (NASD OTC/BB). A company intending to obtain a quotation for its securities has only to file in some simple disclosures through form 15c211, commonly known as form 211, with NASD, and once approved, it will be able to trade its stock on the OTC/BB.
Nowadays, going public has become an appealing proposition for most entrepreneurs due the advantages, as attracting more potential investors and more capital, it offers. There are basically two ways for a private company to become a public company, first, is the Initial Public Offering (IPO) method, and second is the reverse merger method. Due to benefits as higher valuation, easier capital formation, inexpensive acquisitions, and lesser costs and risks, most capitalists prefer reverse merger method for going public.
The newly formed public company, which is also a reporting company, must also have a symbol. To obtain the symbol, the company would have to provide an application to the NASD, which requires filling of Form 15c211. Only a market maker who is the member of the NASD can fill Form 15c211.
Although there are no stringent financial requirements to be listed on the OTC/BB, the NASD ensures that the company's affairs are in order, and there are at least 40 to 50 shareholders and sufficient float before approving Form 15c211. The entire process takes about three to six months. Once, NASD approves Form 15c211, the company can have its securities quoted on the NASD OTC/BB.

Im assuming that they mean IMMEDIATE shareholder equity, unless of course they didnt take subtraction in school.
Its the NEW MATH!
5-2=5 ?????
or maybe more accurately
0.00000001 - 0.00000001 =5000 !!!
Hard to find humor anymore, but I am trying.
O/T. Accepted a great offer from Rockwell Collins today to come on as a permanent, full time Principal Engineer. Not bad for a 67-1/2 year old. Boy with MDFY in the tank am I grateful for this job! Folks be careful with your retirement money. Diversify at least 40% to INVEST IN YOURSELF!
Let me share my 3 cents...or...maybe not.
nik doesnt have time; he put in his 1-1/2hours today.
This came up about 9-12 months ago about another "show". The response (from JB for what it is worth) was that the people Medify were targeting were directly in their reach in the NHS. Just a data point. Things may have changed.
grow up! the QQQQ (Nasdaq) dropped today! Should they do something about it?
Good for you tjak, we get these folks who think this board is their subserviant staff and want to 'delegate'. Nice try.
My mouth (fingers) get to going sometimes and I have no control over it (them).
sorry.
MORE ON DENIAL.......
Denial is rampant everywhere in the world today, so it is not surprising that more than an average amount shows up on these boards.
1. Its like we dont want to admit how stupid we (me too) have been. Pointing fingers is always easier. Our part (a large part) gets put aside. We couldnt bear admitting our stupidity. "IF only........." get repeated and repeated, and when the same things show up, its "I can't believe its happened again, (and I am stlll in this thing)".
2. The experssion " I cant get out now, its too low" really gets me. Whats that all about? Down from $30K to 3K? Cant get out? Why? 3$K can buy a lot of drugs, liquor, and for the ones wanting a good life, textbooks on investing.
Hey, you folks wanted HOPE, now you have HOPE, should you decide to accept it. Noone is forcing buying or holding here.
Having thought about this a litte, it seems to be the only course of action (besides the 33M) that can get this going and give it any hope. It assumes that the busiess can grow much faster in the short term than the loan interest rate (which I agree is probably 20-30%).
IT avoids short-term dilution, and gives it a little more fuel.
Obvious question, "WILL IT BE ENOUGH" ????
Taking everything at face value, (assuming no BS), it would appear that the product/business has enough potential to warrant the private group to risk its capital. This, to me, has significant positive implications.
We'll know more about the integrety of this statement and the company as the share structure and pps unfold over the rest of the year.
when we get to $0.0001, we can reminise about the Beverly Hillbillies!
lets see if im right about PR into a 504 pump/dump tomorrow.
Clancy with a sense of humor???? You rock Clancy.
bv, thanks for the clarification. I just jumped on it to make my own soapbox points. Seems fair around here.
I took this here team leader with a major aerospace company after it had been run into the ground by the previous team leader who overpromised and underdelivered because of lack of prioitization. I'm not sure I can do what management expects of me with the lag start, the catch up with the skeletons popping out of closets. I consider myself a good manager. Sometimes the race cant be won.
Dont blame Ian and Nik. You have no idea what it takes even with a HEAD start much less a lag start with both legs tied together by process red tape.
Minor point, the JAPANESE bombed pearl harbor
That was after the US put an embargo on their oil. They dont tell you that in the history books because the winners of a war get to write the history books.
So now the US will put an embargo on IRAN's Nukes, and....when the smoke and radiation clears, if there are any survivors left, noone will give a SHIT whether Medify made it or not.
BTW, Medify wont have made it, either way.
do you?
I was wondering what kind of follow-up act they were going to do to prop the pps for another pump/dump cycle. Sounds like the time is ripe for another 504! The tabloid splash a few weeks ago will be a hard act to follow, except for documented revenues.
I am now in the camp of the cynics, but I do hold out "HOPE", the bane of an investor. I will remove my cynic label for myself when I see DOCUMENTED REVENUES.
PS: GO MEDIFY!!!!!
K/T (Kind of on topic)
If you dont want Herbie's phiplosophy, please go to the next post immediately, I wont be offended in the least.
But just to put things in perspective, and to share just a LITTLE of what I have learned over the 67.5 years...
1. Forgiveness is forever giving up claim to a happier PAST
1a. Do LEARN from the past
2. Faith is forever following higher guidance for the FUTURE
2a. Your action is involved here
3. Gratitude is being absolutely thankful for the PRESENT
3a. I woke up this AM wtihout a toe-tag on!
4. There are situations and there are problems.
4a. Situation + "my spin" = Problem
Good luck to all today! Go Medify!
$1,470 is better than $1,000. but whoa, did I dream for more here.
I dont drink, but I do ____!
Lem, I cant get that revolving beer mug to slow down long enough to take action!
theres life in 'them thar' hills!
Im still in with my measly 21,000 shares
Herbiertheloveblog
nice volume huh? MDFY ROCKS!
Medify is probably pulling in their horns and getting their act in shape. Their energies MUST be directed toward getting the business going, NOT answering stockholder questions and satisfying egos here on the board. Its a rough pill to swallow, but that is what any good, strong, tough manager would do in this situation. Its all about priorities, like it or not.
The only other possible two scenarios are:
1)that they are going down. If that is the case, then it doesn't matter, and lawyers can come later.
2) A sale is in progress and everything is hush-hush for obvious reasons.
My Opinion
Has anyone of the disappointed bashers here considered selling MDFY and leaving the board?
I sometimes hear the stupid rationalization that "There is no use selling now". Well, if the $2K you have left isnt important to you, Ill gladly take it off your hands.
Lets face it, in the midst of your bashing, you either secretly hope that MDFY makes an about face, or you are just looking for sympathetic confirmation of your victim status.
Grow up! Move On!
Of course, I don't REALLY expect anyone to change their habits, but it sure feels good tell you all how I feel.
(Oh now I get it, THATS WHY you bash, because it FEELS GOOD! Why didnt you say so?) :)
If the 504s continue, JB will not be the controlling shareholder. The buyers of the 504s will be. Until the next R/S that is! (Sarcasticly yours, herbie)
