ajtj: COTH today? thanks
ajt: COTH today?
Roubini has been one of the few who have predicted this decline over a year ago.
AJT - What's your outlook for 2010? TIA
basserdan: thanks for the wonderful links you post.
Hi Cosmo,
I don't think I can answer that question with any degree of authority. I can say that most of the retail holders of long term investments are in a panic and dispair mode, but are frozen and at a loss re what to do. They may do some selling if we go to lower lows. At the moment, I think most still hold out the hope of a quick move up in the market to erase all loses or a similar scenerio to 2000's decline and eventually recoup, but they are not the one's responsible for the volatility in the market.
There's a great deal of denial about the depth of the seriousness of our economic instability. Most people are very uninformed and assume that the gilded years will continue forever. If not, they wouldn't have been living on credit and spending like a drunken sailors. Most of those with more information choose to ignore what they consider the "doom-and-gloom" outlooks -- similar to Larry Kudlow, who sees Goldilocks around every corner.
I suspect the volatility is partly the result of managers, hedge funds, big player, who didn't anticipate that the market would fall as much as it has and have been catching falling knives all the way down.
I'm sure others on this board can provide more data about the volatility, but I can't determine that from a psychological point of view.
AJT - do you mean NDX target 1180 ? OR 1080? thanks
Someone on CNBC reported yesterday that they were expecting hedge fund selling until the end of the year. Sorry, I don't remember who said it, and it may not be related to a redemptions' cut off expected this week. Can anyone clarify this for us?
O/T thank you for that letter from Britain -- best laugh I've had in ages.
thanks - eom
did anyone hear what art cashin on CNBC said about the end of day trading? He's the only person I usually try to hear, but I had my mute button on and missed it. Thanks
In Manhattan, prices haven't budged at all -- so far
thanks anyer, blacktruck & sspads for the wind energy plays. I knew that any questions to this board would lead to useful plays. All the charts look good. Does anyone know whether any are considered the "blue chips" of this sector?
Help with buys on wind enery companies needed. I'd like to invest in this sector for the long term. Does anyone have any suggestions? Which are the leaders? Which are good speculative or newer companies that look good?
I'm reluctant to jump into the middle of this, especially since I'm a lurker who rarely posts other than to ask questions, but I will. I'd like to think of myself as an objective observer in this situation. It seems clear to me that you personalize anything contrary to your point of view as a put down or an aggressive attack with you as an innocent victim who has to charge into battle in self defense. Ironically, you wind up producing exactly what you fear -- counterattacks to your irrational charges, which you then see as evidence supporting your original perception. The posters on this message board have always been helpful and gracious. This is ugly.
AJ: COTL today? TIA
I've been a lurker on this message board solely to check for messages from your brother. I bookmarked the site "Airedale." He will be missed by many like me who don't typically post to the board. I wonder whether it would be possible to post a picture of Bob so we can attach a face to our memory while we mourn his loss.
Thank you Nevo. I'll never forget your father, and now I have a face to attach to my memory of him.
I doubt that there's any kind of dimentia going on.
1396 by "EARLY" march -- do you mean late march?
& 1420 by early April??
AJ: COTL today??? TIA
Another sad day. If any of you knew him from another message board -- another gentle, kind, generous man was lost. http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=2593

With deep regret I would like to announce the death of my brother, airedale88, Bob Chonski....Bob died suddenly from complications due to lung cancer, he did not even know he had...My brother loved the stock market and he loved traning and competing with his airedales Barron and Bolt.. Bob had other interests as well such as cooking, (he was a fantastic cook), astronomy, politics, and history....Recently we have been working together trading futures contracts... Bob expects the market to make a big move back up!!!! Good Luck everyone and God Bless....Ted Chonski.
To everyone, your kind words mean so much to me. Bob spent so much time on this message board and other message boards in past years. It was a big part of his life. Someone mentioned about airedales level headedness and the way he respectfully treated others on the message board.. I can tell you he was like that in his everyday life as well. airedale88 was a big man who stood 6'7".. He was only 55 years old when he passed.. Everyones words of kindness are deeply appreciated. I've decided to read them at his memorial mass..Thank you everyone Ted, airedale88's little bro......
I'm so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies go to his family and loved ones. It's more painful to learn that he was such a young man. He was truly a gentlman in the finest, literal sense of the word. His kindness, patience, and generosity in sharing his hard work were appreciated by the many people who looked forward to his posts and respected his talent and intelligence, and kindness. He will be missed by all. The world has lost a very special person.
AJ -- COTH today??? thanks
AJT - what are your ST & IT projections for the market now? Does this look like a ST bottom (plus/minus a few) and up for a few months?
thanks for any feedback.
AJT - COTL today? Thanks.
Nevo, Merav, Aviva and Jonathan
If you've been reading the posts on this message board, you are aware of the admiration, respect, and love for your father by his cyber friends. We grieve his loss. For myself, I've rarely communicated with your father directly, but, nevertheless, felt a close attachment to him and feel as though I've lost a close friend.
In grieving, it's often helpful to share anecdotes and reflect on the departed's life. I'm grateful to those posters who share with us some of their personal experiences with Zeev. It helps us hold on to more of him.
Your father was a modest man and kept the focus here on the Market. If it's comfortable for you at some point in time, I think many of us would be delighted to learn more about him.
My deepest sympathies go to you and your loved ones for the tragic loss of such a rare human -- a true mensch. He has inspired many, and his legacy lives on.
I feel the same way. I've been crying all morning and I never met him personally but feel as though I've lost a dear friend. He touched people in a profound way -- with his humanity -- and the world has darkened with his loss. His life should be an inspiration for us all.
The world has lost an amazing human -- one of the best who has contributed much good though all his accomplishments as well as his generosity of spirit.
airedale: does this drop mean the 10 week low is happening now or still is in progress? How do you assess this market now? Thanks.
