My friendsaid that there were 8 well established companies selling 'power bars' for athetic pets at the show. BIG companies......Like Nutro, etc. Companies with established distribution and reps.

One of my buddies was at the Global Pet Expo in Orlando FL last week repping his company and I asked him to see if AAPT was there. They were, in booth #1984. He saw the whole group there huddled around a table. They didnt seem too friendly, especialy the older blond lady thats on has her photo on the website. He did talk to one of the guys that must be their sales guy because he said he was affable and smooth talking. My friend said that they had no pet food on display. He said that their sales guy told him that they no longer sell pet food but that they do doggy energy bars. They had some sort of liquid supplement ( I forgot the name and what it was, sorry) on display. He's in that field and he said that it is something that is incredibly cheap to make and doesnt work all too well and that there is a lot competition in that field. He didnt recognise any of them from prior shows so he wasnt sure if any of them had any classical animal nutrition background as that fied is very small.

It is a rather interesting letter with a return envelope with questions on how this stock effected me.........Going to be fun watching this unfold. Im sure some of you got the same letter.

Wow, I read their "so-called" financials last night. The top dogs (try to)pay themselves $212K/yr but since they dont have enough income from the lack of incoming sales and out going costs. They have to sell stock to cover their income. So, those that bought stock. You paid them to cover their income gap.....nice. I dont know of anyone in the animal food biz that makes that kind of salary. The only ones that do work for Conagra or Purina. definetly not on the same level.
Thier whole business plan is crap. They need to focus on the small pet stores. Then they won't have to apy $180K in slotting fees because pet stores dont do that.
They need to get hooked up with a sales group like Mello sales and go that route. It would be cheaper and more profitable. ALso, cutting 100K off their salaries would be prudent also.

I just re-did my figures. To attend a show like SuperZoo and to factor in all of the added costs your looking at $3500-$4200. But if they are in 20,000 stores that should be a drop in the bucket for this company.

Actually attending a trade show is quite cheap.
10'x10'Booth, hotel, food, plane ride costs about $2,500.00
I am attending one right now for the food,supplement industry. SuperZOO is even a little bit cheaper. Ive been to that one.
You dont need a massive 40'x40' booth.
As big and bigger companies than Foodlion attend that show.
Also, trade shows are perfect places to get word out to online vendors and pet store chains. For real growth in the animal biz you need to look at all revenue streams. See, you need to court the distributors (Necessary evil) as most pet store owners will not order directly because they dont have the time to deal with individual companies. Its typical to have a 300% growth in sales right after attending these pet shows.

WHy didn't these guys exhibit at SuperZOO last week in Vegas? Thats the biggest B2B pet products show on the west coast. Or GLobal Pet Expo in Orlando which is the largest B2B in America.
I just checked and they never exhibit. In the pet products industry its mandatory to exhibit since all of the big retailers go there to look for new products and conduct deals.
