Same debate applies, open dialogue is a different way of saying free speech is it not?
Joe Rogan was able to communicate with an open dialogue since his podcast began. So people should get on Rumble to allow racist jokes and comments? Or attack our govt? We’re moving backwards as a community if this is the case.
I agree you should treat others with respect. Whoever the person may side with.
In due time we will come to learn if platforms such as Truth Social and Rumble actually make a difference.
Until then, trade the trade. Absolute wild roller coaster day for the market.
Yes to a point, but I’m referring to the far-right people who believe they don’t have free speech. Most of these people just want to attack our govt, now we’re crossing the fine line of “is this free speech or hate speech?” Because reality is we already have our rights of free speech.
As I said, if we didn’t; platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and many others wouldn’t exist today. I mean, damn, women in the Middle East can’t even show their face in public! That is more of a free speech issue.
I saw a video on Instagram of Musk taking a jab at our govt and his video wasn’t pulled down. Why? Because he wasn’t deliberately attacking our govt and rather makes a very reasonable and smart argument. This is a great example of exercising free speech.
Lol the guys dad is German and maybe everyone is a little racist.
I’m not much of a fan, never found him that funny. But the dude makes a point. Has tons of viewers and more followers on Twitter than Rogan.
Trevor Noah or not, my point is Rogans Apes comment hasn’t sat well with people. Even celebrities.
Sure I get it, but as I mentioned in another post, the real issue is his Planet of the Apes comment which puts a different perspective to his usage of the n-word.
What I meant was: the argument for free speech is overrated. Of course it’s our right, but nobody is taking that away. Certainly nobody has taken it from me. Sure it was more of an issue in the past, especially those of color.
But not today. If it truly was an issue; YouTube, Spotify and other platforms wouldn’t exist. Anyone can create a channel. Many have. Sure some subjects may not be appropriate and could be removed but it’s mostly because people confuse hate speech as free speech. Not to mention all the misinformation out there. It’s a fragile subject but most people talk nonsense. Just because some want to argue the govts handling of Covid. Sure I get it, I’m not vaccinated and don’t plan to be anytime soon, but I’m not going on YouTube or any other platform to argue this. I have more important things to do.
Though I should’ve clarified and said “the argument - for free speech” is overrated because we have it! The lazy people are just too naive to see it and jump the bandwagon when they see others blocked or removed from it because yes it’s possible they could be passing misinformation which ultimately can hurt someone.
Everybody handles a virus differently. I had it and was able to fight it easily. But it was a different experience. Especially losing my taste buds. That part sucked.
Point being, we have free speech. I know I do.
So you think people these days don’t get offended easily? Lol, c’mon now.
Free speech is overrated and mostly supportive by lazy people who have nothing better to do.
Anyone can start a YouTube channel, what could the people possibly want to talk about that’ll make a difference in our world?
We need innovation, the people should focus on that instead and find ways to preserve our planet instead of carelessly using up resources.
And yes I’m not vaccinated.
Yes but we live in a sensitive time. You can rest assure there is potential for chaos when you give the people a platform for free speech. I could almost guarantee Truth social will be one big cluster f*ck if it’s ever launched.
Also, did you know Thiel is investor in ATAI?
Company has been on a big downtrend since launch.
I should’ve been more specific..
Yes the repetitive use of the n-word could’ve been used in conversation as quoting someone else, but his comment about watching Planet of the Apes in a black neighborhood will be his biggest battle.
He has the video on Instagram. Or you can watch a clip on YouTube of the daily show with Trevor Noah.
Have you not seen his n-word apology video?
There are bigger issues than the proclaimed leftist side.
Free speech is different from racism speech. even if he were to leave Spotify, which he won’t, how do we know the people will not begin to protest against his show? Wherever he may “end up” because of what he said. Many celebrities already backed off from his support after learning of the video.
Who’s to say the bigger dogs won’t, in some way, hinder Rumble platform if free speech goes too far? That’s the biggest issue here.
As the saying goes, a person is smart, people however…
I agree it’s not dependent on Rogan but the stock moved big on the offer for Rogan Does it have a bright future? Yeah sure if done correctly. But Spotify and all other streams took a very long time to get there.
I think that’s why this merger hasn’t taken place. Maybe not big enough, yet.
I believe if there was a buyout; big techs would buy their patent (if they can’t find away around it, and they probably could find a way), not the brand name as these techs would want to make it their own. Why? Cost is less for a high priced product with slow demand.
Nice bounce trade though.
