Where is everyone today? Are the believers in bitcoin still alive or is this truly going to die? How about some positive predictions about where the price of bitcoin will be by the end of the year. I don't care how likely or realistic it is or even if it is based on any factual information. I want something to keep me positive.
What is it going to take for bitcoin to turn around? I want to sell.
I wish I had know about this last year. I am in the red so far this year based on my entry point. If BTC is at 14000 and GBTC is at the same premium as today I will break even.
GBTC cost 75% more per bitcoin the just buying bitcoin.
Thanks. Then using SQL the premium calculation would be:
DECLARE @BTC money = 10260
DECLARE @GBTC money = 17.92
DECLARE @BTC_PerShare money =.001*@BTC
SELECT ((@GBTC-(@BTC_PerShare))/(@BTC_PerShare))*100 AS Premium
Result: 74.64 %
To calculate the premium does anyone on this message board know how much a current share of GBTC is worth in BTC? If the pre-split was .1 BTC and the share split was 91 for 1. I was guessing (1/10)/91. That would make every GBTC share worth 0.00109890109 bitcoin.
((((1/10.0)/91.0)*11665)/20.14)*100=63.64
my mistake. the spit was 91: (1/10)/91
(1/10)/100
Yes, I believe so. Is 1 share GBTC today 1/1000 of a bitcoin?
How are you calculating the premium? It looks to me to be over 70%
I've been watch the trend chart on bitcoinwisdom and coinbase BTC and the one day trend line crossed down Dec 26. It finally crossed up Feb 17. I can't wait for Tuesday and see my account finally in the green. I wish I had more money to buy on this downturn. I'm glad I didn't give up. I'm still here. Go longs!
Thanks, I need the positive thinking. Going long hurts sometimes. Wish I knew about GBTC even just a month earlier
Only 8 more dollars and I will be breaking even. You need money to make money and I have none left.
Why does coinbase will only let me buy no more than $2000 worth of bitcoin? That was after I raised the max weekly limit. It does not appear that I can raise it anymore. GBTC was my only option, but I would rather own actual bitcoin.
I was late. I'm still in. I don't have anymore money to buy at this lower price. bitcoin needs to be about 14000 before I start to break even. Patience is easy when you are making money.
Two months of nothing. Bitcoin first broke 11,000 Nov 29. Bitcoin appears to be going nowhere. I want to remain positive, but the hype is gone. Isn't that what drove the price that high? What is going to push is higher?
Except for the fact that it been over a month since bitcoin's high. I believe that was December 6th. That was a month and a half ago.
I don't see how the split will help GBTC do anything to increase my portfolio value. Bitcoin has done absolutely nothing for the past two weeks. Unless bitcoin goes up I don't see how any of this split talk even matters.
What difference does the split really make? Isn't the premium still high? Split or no split if the price BTC does not go up we are not going to make any money. I have only lost money because I bought in at around 2200. It seems to me that I won't be ahead until BTC is at least 14500 assuming the same premium it is now. Even if you are going long in GBTC you need to believe BTC will continue to increase in value. I know I need patience if I believe BTC will recover but I have my doubts.
I have heard many say don't invest more than you can afford to lose. That statement is very subjective and non-specific. I would love to meet the person who has money they don't mind if they lost or could afford to lose. I don't need the money to pay the bills but if I were to lose the money I invested that is less money that could have helped afford things in the future. I would have less for my kids college. I would have less for my retirement. I sold some of my mutual fund investments and bought GBTC and so far have lost. At the current level I am at least a year behind where I was before I invested into GBTC. If the current premium level of GBTC stays the same and if BTC were to at least reach 15000 I would at least be back to where I was. Can I afford to lose everything I invested in GBTC? Well, I won't be living in a van down by the river, but that doesn't make living with that decision any easier.
Please tell me that this will go back up. I'm one of the new ones to GBTC. I bought in at just under 3000. I think i'm going to be sick. I could free up more money and buy at the lower price tomorrow. I think I was born with the worst timing.
