Last time I saw the General around was in March 2006 right before the run to $5+. Maybe something good is about to happen...
Agreed, get some energy! And he never addressed the botched doses, what a let down.
But good news is good news. Congrats to all!
Thanks for the post. Not many post stuff like this on investing sites. Ill keep this in the back of my mind.
I posted about purchasing CX516 a while ago:

One other thought... Im not sure how many of you follow PPHM, but has anyone noticed how PPHM and COR are freakishly correlated?
Check this out:
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=pphm#chart3:symbol=pphm;range=my;compare=cor;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;logscale=on;source=undefined
And this too:
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=pphm#chart11:symbol=pphm;range=3m;compare=cor;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;logscale=on;source=undefined
Obviously they deviate some, but they are so close its kinda weird.
Today is the first time in a long time where my COR holding is finally in the green! I started buying shares almost 2 years ago at $3 right before the March 2006 run to over $5. I bought more shares on the way up around $4. Then the trouble started. For the next year and a half I traded a few shares to make some quick money, but kept most of my core holding. When CX717 was shot down for the ADHD trial recently I bought a few thousand more shares at 0.45 out of desperation (basically tripling down). Looking back, I definitely put way too much money in, but now I'm glad I did. It is nice to see that after 2 years I have a net profit (paper profit) with COR. Hopefully this will be the case for most others on this board as COR continues to rally upwards!
My only question now is what do I do? After I lost so much money initially (on paper, I never sold for a lose), I vowed never to invest in small biotech again. So now I have the opportunity to get out with my initial investment plus a small profit. But... the RD trial is coming up and if those results are good I would have the chance to really make a killing... it would actually change my life financially if this ever hit $2+. The fear is slowly subsiding and my greed is starting to emerge. I won't do anything in the next two weeks, but I will be thinking about either getting out or going for a gamble again. I'd love any feedback, Ive never really been in this position.
Glad to see you over here mice cured! Welcome aboard.
Cup and Handle...
If the stock price is a linear function of the number of people treated with bavituximab then PPHM should be about $1.70 by end of summer.
You are correct, it hit my target and now I am out. I nearly doubled my money and I didnt really see any near term price appreciation happening so I took my money out to find a better investment. What a ride though! I still love the company and I bet in time the SP will rise more, but I just wanted to play the Kuvan rally and get out. There are too many other better plays right now to keep my money in BMRN. Plus I have a new policy to avoid all biotech stocks... just too risky for me.
Best of luck to you! Thanks for contributing to this board.
I really appreciate you sharing this. Looks like COR is down, but really low volume... nice sign if you ask me.
Thanks gdepc and skoobyfl1! (for messages 56302 and 56306)
So what kept you from sharing the details and your personal thoughts about your tour with Malcolm on this board?
The honest answer is that I was asked not to share. I was taken on a very nice tour, told about the company and its past, and met the scientists. At the end, I asked if it was okay to post about my tour online and was told that I could if wanted, but it would be better if I didnt. Also at that time I was working many hours and wanted to get away from spending so much time on the internet, so I figured that was a good time to leave for a while. I’ll admit right now, I’m a leech… just sucking in all this board has to offer without giving much in return. I figure that most people in my position (just starting to invest and learn about stocks) are in the same boat. I hardly have anything of real value to bring to this board, and the one time I did, I was asked not to share. Sorry if I let you down, but maybe next time you shouldn’t be relying on a kid with no experience to bring you “secret” information to make you feel more comfortable about your investment.
Was I intentionally misleading?
I didn’t disclose anything about the tour except that it was nice, so how could that be misleading? After the tour I did think it was a good investment to keep my money in CYGX. But after a few months, I realized that I was either lied to or time tables had changed, so I sold. Plus I learned that there were smarter ways to play with stocks … my money could be better utilized elsewhere. Important note: the word “short” is relative. When I said “I sold shortly after my tour” I meant that I went on a tour on June 1st, and in September I sold. I didn’t sell the next day, or the next week, or even the next month. I held for over 3 more months, and lost more money, just like everyone else who held during that time. So clearly I was not trying to mislead anyone. And for the record, I am still a shareholder Arnold, a nice whopping 100 shares! I never want to forget how stupid I was.
And if you are wondering if I am in “buying mode” now, the answer is a clear no! I don’t touch stocks like this anymore. Who knows, maybe CYGX will be successful, I really have no idea. But I do know that I would rather put my money into something smarter. I hate the fact that I put my money back into CYGX after I sold at 1.50. I hate the fact that I didn’t put in a stop loss after I did buy back in. I hate the fact that I watched my money go down the drain because I fell in love with the company and the false notion that it would be a huge success. I was greedy, I was an idiot, and I only blame myself. Now Im moving on to better things. CYGX is like the McDonalds hamburger of the stock market. It satisfies at first, but in the end we all know that it’s an unhealthy choice that will leave us fat and feeling sick. Some of you should consider trying the filet mignon or salmon of stock market… you won’t be disappointed.
JMHO
Bigworld, I too am hoping for a rebound in PPHM and COR this year. My average cost on these is so low that $1 each would make me very happy. $2 would be amazing! But like you, I plan on unloading into any future strength. I have been testing and developing trading algorithms using technical analysis and neural networks and so far I am having very good results. Any free money that I get from COR or PPHM will be put into my systems. It will be interesting to see if CYGX ever gets back from these levels. I honestly hope that Malcolm is successful, but Im not holding my breath.
Keep posting, most of your insight is refreshing and very intelligent.
Cheers.
Hello Cafe69, Im back. Shortly after my tour with Malcolm I sold my shares in the 30s. I kept 100 shares just for kicks and to remind myself of this stupid mistake. You know, my initial investment of CYGX was in the 90s and just a few weeks later I sold it all at $1.50. Almost the perfect top! CYGX was my first stock ever, and boy did I feel good about that trade... should have stopped trading CYGX there! But I was a fool, and bought more on the way down, thinking I could make a nice profit again. So the gains I initially made, I lost. What an idiot I was.
I have now been trading for two years and my style has changed a lot. Ive learned a lot. I no longer go after companies like CYGX, COR, or PPHM. I have made some nice profit with COR and PPHM, buying and selling, and I still have a few grand set aside to just play with those companies, but overall, I am done with these risky penny stocks.
Sorry, I dont have any secret information. I dont even live in Texas anymore. I did however get accepted into the PhD program at my school on a full ride plus stipend, so that is some exciting news. As far as my opinion on CYGX now... I think it is possible to make money with this stock, but it would be very difficult. And as far as a long term investment in CYGX, I think that would be a very stupid decision. My advice: get away from stocks below $5.
Anyway, stocks are just my hobby, and I still dont really know that much. But I have learned a lot of valuable lessons, thankfully most have not been too costly.
How are you doing Cafe69?
OT- A friend of mine has thimerosal-induced seizures due to vaccines that she had as a child. So within the past two decades vaccines definitely had thimerosal. Not sure what the standing is right now.
OT:
Couldnt this be a good thing:
"Most people tend to save little when young, build up savings during middle age, and then spend those savings in retirement."
That's a lot of people with a lot of money spending their lifelong savings. That has to have some positive effect right?
Hooray!
You can buy this stuff too. Orexin A, that is. Pricey though.
From page 13:
•FY07
–10 Awards: 5 awards made, 5 in negotiation
–OTA: Implicit Biosciences in negotiation; Peregrine Pharmaceuticals requested OTA
–40% obligated, 2% expended
•Estimate to be at 66% obligated, 17% expended at end of current fiscal year
Just to clarify, this first trial in RD is going to be using CX717 orally (a pill) and not an injection yet, right?
What exactly does this mean, does it mean that the award is still coming, but they just cant negotiate a higher one? Or is the contract itself completely dead?
Clarification: Peregrine Contract Story
Monday December 17, 12:54 pm ET
TUSTIN, Calif. (AP) -- In a story Dec. 14, The Associated Press reported in a headline that a Peregrine Pharmaceuticals contract with the Defense Department was halted. The headline should have made clear that it was contract negotiations that were halted, as noted in the story.

What do you think PPHM will open at Monday?
What do you think PPHM will clost at Monday?
I dont know about anyone else, but I feel like buying more if I see 0.25 or less.
I predict, 0.25 open (similar to Friday after hours) and a run to 0.30 by close.
Not entirely true, check out BMRN today. FDA approved!
Hooray for everyone!

If both RD and AD get positive findings then I think $3 is easily achievable.
It would be nice to bust through the $29 wall... been hitting it over and over again. My hope, $30 by tomorrow close, and then $33 by Friday close with FDA good news. Monday we hit $29 again before heading up to $35.
imho
T-minus 2 days...
Here we go, good luck to all! I expect we break $30 if the good news comes out... and if good news is not to be heard then we are in for one nasty drop. But chances are so high that it will be accepted that its not even worth worry about!! all imho
BioMarin Pharmaceutical- Soleil report
Action
We recently hosted an investor luncheon with BMRN management, and we remain confident in
both Kuvan's chances at FDA later this week as well as the product's ability to drive earnings
beginning in 2008. We believe the sales force is set to kick off a 3-day launch meeting today in
San Francisco, and, assuming outright Approval this Friday, BMRN is ready to begin shipping
product next Monday. We expect management to host a call next Monday to announce Kuvan
pricing (per-tablet ASP) and to provide preliminary 2008 Kuvan sales guidance. We continue
to believe that our $13/pill assumption is highly conservative and that initial pricing will
provide the first source of earnings leverage, with higher average dosing and higher average
patient weight fueling economics over the long term. We remain buyers of BMRN, with a price
target of $34 (30X 2011E disc. 3-periods at 25%).
Nice find. Those are some big names presenting along side little 'ol Peregrine. How did PPHM get in?
This would be a fun conference to attend, wish I could go.
What is up with the crazy after hour trading?
2300 traded at 0.78
100 traded at 0.78
100 traded at 0.40
I am probably wrong, but wasnt CX-701 supposed to be "acute"... acting quick and fast. So isnt a longer half-life the opposite of that?
Actually the best thing in the world would be if Cortex makes a big announcement tomorrow that the FDA decision has been reversed and CX717 is accepted for another phase II trial in ADHD. Then things would be back on track and better than ever.
Thanks for posting negger, good luck to ya too!!

Id love to hear your current outlook on PPHM, COR, and CYGX (even though I don't 'really' own any shares of it or really care about it anymore).
Also, Id like to hear about your general market outlook, especially some of the things you hinted at over on the CYGX board.
Thanks a bunch, hope all is well!
Cheers!
