Well in all fairness he said a phase 2 trial is the greatest inflection point for a company like Algernon or rather where the bulk of the value is created.
Technically we have yet to start this Phase 2 (maybe it starts today) so I wouldn't call that falling to the wayside just yet.
We all know the same old story here and the age old question, why is this so undervalued? And there comes a time for all companies on the verge of something great where value becomes realized by the masses. Hard work will pay off. The fact Algernon made it into the Guardian is huge and I expect more media coverage like that coming soon. That's alot of eyes and as this ball begins to actually roll there will be alot of ppl outside of the family and friends looking to capitalize on this opportunity.
JMO
Yes it definitely has been a long arduous journey for all the longs here.
Good vibes all around and it was nice that CM was in some chill clothing during the interview. He has the look of someone who has been working tirelessly and now ready to kick back for a brief moment after finally laying the foundation for all these trials. Still a ways to go but man you have to be excited to have a position here. Giving credit where it's due indeed.
Algernon is definitely going to continue to garner more and more attention as well as attract new sets of investors. US volume definitely indicative of that. You can just feel they are on the verge of something. This thing ran up months ago off sheer speculation. Now we are on the doorstep of first patient dosing. Boots on the ground in Florida. Very impressive. Then IPF and CC enrollment too. So much news to look forward to. I have been quiet but have been reading every post here and I appreciate everyone's contributions.
Great week. Nice being back above PP levels. Looks like anything under a buck now is a steal. Hope you are all having a great weekend.
I'm fine with it honestly. I've seen BLOZF run up 20 cents before off of no news. Just the same ole flipping going on over there.
As mentioned over there on that board. Chasing a breath machine that requires putting your mouth on a device in a post COVID 19 world. Anyone with any common sense would call that a fruitless endeavor.
"Another patent filed" great lol - I'm far more confident with my holdings here than over there. What's pennies to real life pharmaceutical contributions?
We potentially may see some Bellus shareholders make their way over to AGN in an effort to recoup some of their losses.
Nice trend. Hope to get an update on the multinational front soon. Hope everyone is well and having a lovely day.
Is that 20 cents I see?
Heavy post AMG. Once again you've outdone yourself with some tremendous DD. Kudos.
Happy Canada Day AGNPF board! CDN markets closed today and we are in a new month. June was a tough one but let's see what July brings.
Have a great day all.
Well I guess the only consolation at this point is management seems to be holding onto their shares.
Hoping we get an update soon. Sometimes silence is golden? I mean we have gotten this far. Logically it makes sense we should be getting underway but who knows. Naturally it's people's first inclination to grow weary and skeptical when there is silence but to rule out progress being made in the background would also be foolish.
It's been officially 20 days since FDA green light. One has to imagine that wheels are turning we cannot see.
Call me a foolish optimist but I see things taking off once we get a legitimate update and trials underway. SK may be a sitting duck right now with low numbers and possibly no update from Novotech yet on their end. SP dropping is what it is. And I do not feel there is a whole heck of a lot CM can do about that. People lose patience and move on. There is alot of money tied up here from institutional investors as well. So it's not just Joe Blow putting a few grand in shares aside here. That also needs to be considered. Just my opinion.
You make valid points and I too have some frustration. It's understandable. I also thought things would be further along than we are now in terms of SP - I mean really you always said how hard it is to break free from the Pennyland crowd.
We have a drug that is better performing for CC than Bellus yet we are playing T ball and we gotta watch them play triple A.
Hard data for all of the pharma world to see may be our only exit strategy and to get out of this league of losers lol - can we do it?Absolutely I think we can. Like Eagle said it may take a little more time and patience on our end.
This may be Mr Mal's final chance to shuffle his pieces around the chess board before real eyes start taking notice of Algernon. "Pre trial Algernon" era is coming to a close. Soon we will be "Clinical Trial Algernon". Until we morph into "Data Algernon" - by then flipping may very well be a thing of the past. KM would
be super rich and have more than enough to fund his other endeavours and shuffle around BRC. And Algernon would hopefully be playing Major League Baseball by then.
To KM Algernon will be like an ex girlfriend he treated like shit for years. Now she's breaking free flourishing and living her best life and even though its difficult to see her move on. You're deep down genuinely happy for her.
The mantra here before was always "get to the data" or "I guess only data will be able to move this thing" - which became apparent. And which management has clearly shown they are moving towards. Raising funds with PP. Working towards getting trials underway. Period. Yet we are still here talking about dilution. To which CM already addressed to shareholders.
Algernon with their FDA and Health Canada submissions and approvals - do ppl honestly think that Chris and Mark would be working day in day out to get approval from regulatory boards to prove Ifenprodil's efficacy? Or simply to create some illusion to fleece retail, institutional and few rag tag investors out of their pennies during a pandemic? It's getting real silly on this board. What has changed? Besides the rhetoric here due to a couple weeks of silence from management and the SP taking a hit.
Talking about science one moment and then about insider flipping next. I pray we get an update soon to return sanity here. Stockhouse may be the wild west but Ihub is becoming conspiracy theory central. I read more about what's his name here than I do about Algernon.(I'm not even going to say his name because I'm sick of seeing it around here).
Algernon may not be able to shed themselves from their humble Breathtec beginnings just yet. But it was only months ago we talked about Algernon being a potential target of Big Pharma if they are able to produce favorable results in clinical trials. Ifenprodil could prove to be a very valuable drug and that was always the goal here so my rhetorical question is "What has changed?"
I'm outta here!
This is far from over. JMO - everyday can bring something great. Whether we see it in the moment or not. Times like these are meant to test our patience and belief in the decisions we have made. I stand by mine.
I have a good feeling that this will unfold the way we all want it to. Guess we shall see.
While I understand the connections being made here and the overall sentiment of the SP being where it is. I am seeing alot of crystal ball conspiracy theories being spun here over and over again.
I understand the weary eye watching out for what may or may not be going on behind the scenes but alot of these accusations are sheer speculation. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes with Algernon right now. Point blank. So people's imaginations start taking over. We have not had an update yet and some investors may be losing patience in this race. But chalking up to seeing "fear" in someone's eyes is not a sound basis to arguing ones point. Nobody was mentioning anything like that during the interviews before. Only now to back up an opinion. AMG I gotta say you are reaching here. Chris Moreau also picked up what 1.7 millions shares last week? Like he mentioned over and over in many instances. He is a shareholder too and they have been working to get this off the ground. Yet we want to blame management for how the market reacts to the news being released and dropping of SP. None of it makes sense. And when nothing makes sense this board always reverts back to Kal conspiracy theories again. It's just getting so tiring reading the same recycled stuff over and over again.
Just because you have done some drawing board on the wall where Kal is the center of a group of affiliates does not mean that is exactly how you say it is. MWM hault may very well have 0 and nothing to do with Algernon whatsoever. Maybe it could all be wrong. Or right who knows. But the passing of opinions here off as facts I think needs to be addressed

Just reading up on some of the side effects of this touted treatment.

It's my understanding that "data" is the prerequisite for receiving any kind of grant funding or even 3rd party pharma partnership for any intrigued parties willing to step in and fund them the rest of the way. With data involved they'll no longer have to rub two sticks together to start a fire. Someone may toss them a lighter once that happens.
Hence they never got any funding yet because any kind of COVID funding would only be given on solid data readout and not just on a hunch.
Just my two cents.
Things work a little different when your trading on the NASDAQ.
I know things seem stagnant right now but I believe there's alot going on behind the scenes as we speak. SP down a bit but green times are ahead!
If the 2b data is positive - that theoretically would put Algernon in a state of eligibility for a plethora of grant funding or partnership to see it through - I highly doubt they will need to go back to the market for funding to conduct Phase 3 - just my honest opinion.
Guess we shall see my friend
-DannyD
Agreed and fair points.
One can only hope that when the data arrives from our multinational 2b it will garner some undeniable attention from the realm of Big Pharma.
This may very well put too many eyes on Algernon for any shenanigans to be pulled. One can hope lol
The other side of it is acquisition/buyout - he gets a big fat cheque that and he can dispurse the funds around the BRC merry go round for the next round of unsuspecting investors. I assume you and me will be long gone by then.
It is my contention that due to Kal being flagged like that regarding the whole MWM debacle he would now be relying even more so heavily on an Algernon success story and it breaking out on its own. I mean that outcome would benefit him. Along with all of us here. At least allow him to further his financial interests while weathering the proverbial s**tstorm - which may take some time.
I mean let's face it. Kal's gonna Kal. So he will flex from time to time but ultimately I do not believe that will hinder any of us from making money when the time comes.
Just my humble opinion.
That was one of his funniest posts ever. The outro actually floored me lol - haven't heard that tune in years. Gotta love the good old AMG entertainment factor. Some may say that is 700 USD well spent.
And thanks for the update Shell. It would seem encouraging that Chris Moreau picked up about $475,000 Canadian worth of shares on the discount while trees were being shaked.
Hardworking Student - you get a follow for that post. Well said.
It is my belief that Algernon is not at all concerned with Australian approval. They have an established relationship with the Australian Drug Evaluation Committee for Ifenprodil as they already have ethics approval from them for Chronic Cough.
That one is as good as in the bag imo. The FDA was their biggest hurdle and they just lept over it!
Amazing news today. Patience! Lol
That's not how I interpreted things at all. Everything they needed to address was addressed.
He fully said they are not leading the trials in South Korea. So the answer was given they do not know. Because they are not the ones running the trials over there. Nor are they going to press Novotech for answers during a pandemic.
Let's keep things in perspective here. There needs to be some compassion in the way you conduct business regarding COVID. Not ringing down the South Koreans every day "hey did you dose anyone with our drug yet?" - like come on. Management is getting it right and I have full confidence in what they are doing.
Great BioPub. I'm outta here!
"nobody likes dilution but you would like it even less if we run out of cash to get things off the ground." - Chris Moreau
And with regards to SK CM said "it really has only been 3 weeks over there. " Which is exactly the sentiment I shared on this board.
He mentioned that there may have been a week delay in finding patients. So finally this SK business should get put to bed now. We wait for data. Plain and simple.
Love how these guys are talking. Total transparency from everyone.
Definitely. the way I interpreted this is that themselves do not know if any patients have been dosed as yet. CM mentioned they are not the ones conducting the trials over there.
It's quite possible Novotech may have the answers but they may not have communicated an update to Algernon yet.
Quite possible.
And there you have it..
"We cannot aggregate the data yet from South Korea as it is an investigative lead study."
Clear as day. Straight from CEO Chris Moreau.
AMG you know we have always had a good rapport with each other and I have always respected you as a poster. We usually see eye to eye on almost all things Algernon related so it's uncanny for me to be responding to you with conflicting views.
End of the day I believe it will unfold divinely for Algernon. SK, multinational 2b/3, cc all of it. Call it a hunch. I'm sure we will look back on these times and laugh when this all said and done. I want an update on SK just as much as anyone here but if we for whatever reason do not get one tomorrow it's not going to throw me into tirade against management. I like how they are doing things so far and I believe they are on the right track. So I'm letting things flow organically. I'm sure they have made a couple mistakes along the way but imo they have done way more things right. Hard to be perfect as a nano cap pharma run by 2 people. So I'm cutting them alot of slack.
Anyways. Thanks for all you do and continue to do. Learned alot from you along the way so the fact I can even have this type of discussion with you shows me that I myself have grown.
P.S "bigger" was a poor choice of words. Not to impugn anyone on this board. I simply meant the newer investors from the PP who are fresh to all of this. Enjoyed the back and forth my friend. I hope we both get what we want tomorrow :)
Good evening.
I really don't get how people are being "reprogrammed" as you say. The way you are wording things is like you feel as though Algernon shifted their focus entirely. When that is not the case.
Algernon clearly indicated they were in contact with the US FDA, Health Canada and Australia at the same time as they were in contact with South Korean Food and Drug Administration. South Korea submission was only 13 days before Health Canada submission. So how does that equate to them changing the narrative when the narrative was clearly stated almost 2 months ago?
Even in the last BioPub Chris Moreau mentioned that they are conducting multiple trials in different countries so they could increase the probability and likelihood of them finding a sufficient amount of severe case patients to dose. We knew at the beginning of May that the South Korean severe case COVID 19 numbers were dwindling and that them finding an ample amount of patients to dose may pose a challenge for them. Only recently has the SK numbers begun to spike again. Maybe there was a delay? There is so many things to factor in here than to just chalk it up to shady dealings. Algernon was diligent enough and had enough foresight to get multiple trials going at the same time so that they were not leaving the future of NP-120 strictly in the hands of the South Koreans.
IMO that was really smart of them to do that. But hey it's all good. I am just gotta let it all unfold and enjoy the ride.
I understand your sentiment AMG. I simply see things in a different light.
I am looking at facts here too. Not a pie in the sky. Yes maybe I seem overly optimistic but that is only because I see the support. I am not blind to the facts either.
Algernon gathered roughly 7 million dollars CAD in funding through Mackie in harsh economic times. They were only supposed to raise 5 million. Got 6.8. Again. Support. Roughly 3.4 million dollars of which are from institutional investors. More support. Money like that does not get thrown around on a whim. With it also comes with a level of responsibility and accountability. It comes with many sets of eyes beyond Pennyland. Especially since the purpose of raising the money is to fund COVID related trials. I bet you those banks and investment firms could care less about who Malhi is and more about what Algernon is actually doing.
It's there in black and white that we have Health Canada on board. 1 of 37 trials. And of those 37 trials we already established most of them are not even feasible treatments. Health Canada is the government. Hence Government eyes are on Algernon. Make no mistake about it. So if Algernon does anything remotely unethical (especially where COVID 19 is concerned) they're going to have to answer to alot of people outside of this message board. Hence why I do not feel as though anything shady is going on here. I believe in the science. I believe in the company. And I am holding out for data and not reading too much into them not tooting their horn around and announcing to the world that they got Ifenprodil into a patient for COVID. Ifenprodil is taken for other ailments too as we already know. Until efficacy is shown for COVID 19. That's where the real meat is. Chronic Cough too. Im with McWhirter on this one. Shoutout to BNN Bloomberg.
We have to agree to disagree here. I simply don't believe in taking a pie out of the oven when it's half way done.
Why is Monday do or die? According to whom? They flat out said it's a webinar regarding multinational clinical trials phase 2b/3. That is the topic of discussion so why expect an update on SK? Algernon is working with Novotech over there and SK is a separate discussion. It is 4 week study and for all we know the enrollment was delayed. Who knows? May 8th was the EXPECTED enrollment date. We have no idea what hoops they have had to jump through over there. It has not even been 4 weeks yet and people are losing their shit. Management has always been nothing but transparent with their progress up until this point.
Even if they don't mention SK it makes no difference to me. If people wanna jump ship makes no difference to me. It would definitely be nice to get an update but my point is why update us when things are currently in progress. If they do not I am going to take that as they simply have nothing to report yet.
People are getting impatient I understand. It is what it is.
Awesome post.
This gives me more and more reason to believe Algernon has evolved past their BRC beginnings. Maybe not totally but they are breaking free. You have a reputable investor like Rob McWhirter going into detail about Algernon and mentioning not once but TWICE that he owns this stock live on BNN Bloomberg.
He cannot go on record and tell people where to put their money but the power of suggestion was definitely in play there. Basically saying 'I would pick up some shares if I were you' without officially saying that was the vibe I got. Thanks Rob I read you loud and clear :)
I don't know about the rest of you but it definitely inspires more confidence in what I hold. Looking forward to Monday regardless if Korea is mentioned or not. Results will come. 4 week study. Imagine a double whammy news release soon - first patient dosing AND data to go along with it.
Algernon is coming.
Interesting read here:
https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/05/29/coronavirus-sanofi-suspends-recruitment-for-clinical-trial-testing-hydroxychloroquine.html
An official bow out for hydroxychloroquine over safety issues
"Patient safety is Sanofi's primary focus," a Sanofi spokesperson said in a statement to CNBC. "In line with WHO's decision and out of caution, Sanofi has decided to temporarily suspend the recruitment of new patients in both of its clinical trials in COVID-19 patients, pending reassurance on the safety profile of HCQ."
Update from Health Canada
https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/news/2020/05/health-canada-announces-another-step-to-accelerate-access-to-health-products-for-covid-19.html
37 clinical trials approved in Canada. Algernon still among the top of the list.
Here is my take on the situation:
There seems to be a great deal of uncertainty and skepticism here regarding the SK human study. My question is why? I mean we are now 20 days in from the official announced enrollment date. Less than 3 weeks. Why would we expect an update on this so quickly?
Management doing a BioPub regarding multinational phase 2b/3 trials is totally separate imo. To me it shows further transparency and keeping us in the loop as usual. I know we would want management to also update us on where we are in SK formally but until the data results are available what would the point of this be?
Updating us on first patient dosing or letting us know trials are underway would only lead to more questions from shareholders. Questions they would not yet have the answers to (ie. How did patients respond to Ifenprodil? How many patients dosed so far? Any issues finding severe cases to dose? etc.) Why bother opening that can of worms before it's time. JMO.
It is my belief that management is simply being very cautious and waiting til there is something to actually report. Scientific data, doctor testimonials, symptom improvement charts and other hard facts to go along with anything South Korea related. Creating a news release to let us know that they did what they planned to do seems a bit redundant imo.
Algernon definitely has delivered good on their word so far.
People (and the market) do not realize the true significance of a U S A FDA IND submission for NP-120... yet. The last piece of the multinational phase 2b/3 clinical trial puzzle in place. Once submissions are approved and green lights are in place all around it's all systems go.
This one took the longest because FDA is the mother of all IND submissions. God knows how long the preparation for this application must have taken yet to the common investor because the share price did not move .10 cents it is scoffed at. Make no mistake this is huge news for America and the world. Fitting it came on Memorial Day. Milestone Day for Algernon. As AMG mentioned, look at where Algernon was two months ago vs what is now in place. If anyone would have asked the board if all of this could be accomplished in 2 months back then the consensus here would likely be a resounding "No" or "I doubt it." - I know better than to doubt these guys. They're flying in rare air.
Truly. This is a great time to be an Algernaut! Sorry the "Le Jagger" era is over. Maybe now it's 40 Dolla! Hope you all are in great health.
+1 - too many things in the works here and you can just feel it in the air.
Some investors going for the quick buck may lose patience and get frustrated. Sell off and drop the SP a few pennies. Doesn't concern me too much. And ironically people speak about a lack of news but Algernon has probably released more news for 2020 than any other publicly traded company lol anyways.
My take is all the puzzle pieces were scattered on the table now it's getting pieced together 1 by 1. Piece by piece. And then before you know it you can see the big picture. Gotta have foresight and as GVX says patience.. it's looking good so far. Hope everyone is well.
Someone over at the other board mentioned that Algernon may have had to sign an NDA (non disclosure agreement) with the SK regulatory body preliminary to enrollment.
Hence that would indicate once trials commence they cannot speak on it or share any type of data or update the public until trials are fully completed. This would seem feasible and indicative of the way South Korea does things. Quiet and close to the chest.
Just my opinion. GLTA
