The best part of the new divisions is a fitting end to this monstrosity:

The trouble with a heavy, wet snow this early is that the trees still have all their leaves. That much weight will bring down a lot of limbs & power lines with them. Yesterday, 15% of Centre County was w/o power - not sure what the situation is today but it looks like they didn't get as much snow overnight as they predicted.
Nevertheless, I will be watching this game on the wide screen in HD where it's warmer, drier and I can drink (legally). ;)
Looks like Penn State will be having an unscheduled "whiteout" for this game - 1 ft. of snow in Oct.? Oh my:
Snow causes changes for football parking
Friday, October 16, 2009
Due to the volume of snow already on the ground at University Park, combined with the forecast of potentially significant snowfall tonight (Oct. 16), all grass lots have been closed for Saturday's football game against Minnesota. Penn State is working to partner with area businesses to have football patrons park in those lots and be shuttled to Beaver Stadium. More information on this will be posted as community parking locations are identified.
Parking in paved lots also will be restricted, with no tents or tailgates permitted in order to maximize the space available for parking in those lots. Those bringing RVs to the game may be redirected to other locations for parking.
The grass lots are closed mainly for safety reasons. The ground was not yet frozen, and the amount of slushy snow that has fallen has turned the lots muddy. There already is close to a half-foot of snow on these lots, with up to an additional half foot or so being forecast, making the lots impassable and treacherous to motor vehicle traffic.
More information about the situation will be posted throughout the day, so those planning to come to the University Park campus for Homecoming activities and the football game should check back often.
Good morning everyone. I see the J.C. Penney Fall/Winter catalog arrived yesterday so I guess it's not too early to start thinking college football. Here's a good look at all the preseason polls:

It appears everyone & their brother is picking the Gators this year which leads me to believe they will flop at some point. I'm sure there will be a sleeper or 2 come out of nowhere also. That's always interesting. As far as Penn State, the only reason they are picked as high as they are is the embarrassing easy schedule including 8 home games against such powerhouses as Akron, Temple, Syracuse and Eastern Illinois. Pitiful, IMO. The A.D. should be ashamed.
At any rate, enjoy the summer & good luck to all come September!
We have over 2 ft' total - we were nailed again on Sat. At least the temps are over 0 again. <g>
Not to worry about the SB. I know everyone has their own personal preference. I'm usually someone who roots for the underdog too. I see the early line is the Steelers by 6-7. I think it should be a good game. It will make a big difference with an experienced QB like Warner.
Hey, I resent that! <g>
Congrats, Dave! Florida is a great team.
I fell asleep @ halftime. <g>
Truthfully, I never liked that statue anyway. I don't think it looks like Joe.
Congrats on the Gators win last night!
Thanks, Bull.
Lol! Hey, wait a minute - are you kicking us out of the conference? <g>
Nope. My head was so big I couldn't get the door shut. <g>
Yep, Global Warming is as mythical the National Championship. ;)
Lol!
When does it run out?
Todd Blackledge mentioned an interesting idea in a broadcast last week. Have 5 major bowls and then pick 2 winners from those bowls to play in the NC game a week later. This way you keep the importance of the bowl games and don't extend the season to any degree. One big problem I see tho would be the logistics involved in playing the big game within a week - there sure would be a lot of scrambling for tics & reservations for the NC game.
The Big Ten has been waiting for years to grab ND. It just makes sense. 12 teams, league championship game - just not sure how they would divide us up. You have to put MI & OSU in the same division to ensure the yearly rivalry I would think.
Now that's just sick. I imagine the students are still on break so my guess would be bored high school kids. I wonder if they will stupid enough to put them up on E-Bay?
Mornin' Double K. The ice is now covered with a few inches of snow today with more on the way. I don't mind driving in snow but 4WD doesn't really help on ice. Of course, my morning drive time is only 4 min. so I guess I shouldn't complain. And that's if I hit "the light". <vbg>
Keep that fire burning.
If those 400 messages were truly about me it must have been one very boring conversation. My dog has a more interesting life than me & she's been dead for 10 years. <g>
Mornin' Hoagie. Congrats on your big win Monday night! I haven't been around much this week & I see I'm about 400 messages behind so I have no idea what you guys have been talking about but I hope Texas gets some support in the AP poll. It's been an interesting year to say the least. Here's hoping for a great game tomorrow night.
An icy mess in Pa. today!
His commercials are super. I can't imagine what he's making in endorsements alone.
You haven't figured out that I'm a total phoney? ;)
Lol! Politics? <g>
The Colts scare the heck out of me. They seem to be on a mission. Pittsburgh has been winning ugly all year - running game sucks. I really think their luck will run out & if so, I'm torn between Tenn (Kerry Collins) and your Colts. I've always had a lot of respect for Peyton.
I agree. The one good thing about this is that maybe Maybin's stock will fall a bit & make him decide to stay another year! Yes, I am selfish. ;)
Understood completely. <g>
Yep. There was a time I would have disagreed but no more. Not worth it.
P.S. Please let the Steelers win the Super Bowl! Lol!
Good question. Maybe himself. ;)
We watched it at a Rose Bowl party & of course, everyone there was a PSU fan. I was afraid it was going to get ugly but everyone took it in stride. I was glad they closed the gap a bit at the end to make it somewhat respectable. USC was just too strong & PSU made too many mistakes.
Hold on to the oven until Monday just in case. ;) Nah, you shouldn't need it. <g>
Congrats, Basser! Your guys deserved it. They are a super team!
You're not a jinx - USC was simply a better team. Everything's fine & life goes on. <g>
OK, so where's the oven? <g>
I actually haven't as yet but I've heard it's really something. Keep in mind I'm still trying to figure out the functions on my cell phone tho. <g>
Oops! ;)
Go Bearcats! I'd love to see them win this one.
Nice article on Johnson. I've always heard that he is a master recruiter. I sure hope he stays.
"Most" likely can quickly turn into "NOT"! I hope. ;)
Thanks, EZ (mid life identity crisis?) :)
Go Sparty & Nits!
Thanks, ksquared! Your own personal "White-out"! Cool! :)
