Another forestry fraud?
In the Ibox, I mentioned a company called Sino-Forest as a possible investment for those interested in investing in timber. Recently, an acknowledged short seller of the stock put out a very damaging report on this company. It can be found here: http://www.muddywatersresearch.com/research/tre/initiating-coverage-treto/
Since the report came out, Sino-Forest's share price has dropped 70%. I've read the report, and it contains several damaging allegations. Basically, it calls Sino-Forest a ponzi scheme. Sound familiar to anyone?

214 barrels = 1 tanker
214 barrels seemed a strange number to me until I realized that 214 barrels * 42 gallons/barrel ~ 9000 gallons, which is the volume of one standard fuel tanker.

NAT.V NADVF.OB up another 15% on no news. Makes me wonder if some insiders at the companies they're dealing with are buying. Or, it could just be momentum players jumping in.

A site for teak prices in Costa Rica.
I recently came across a site for teak prices in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica Teak Prices
This is put out by a trade association of teak growers in Latin America.
The prices are in US$/m3, using the hoppus formula. The hoppus formula underestimates actual volume by ~ 20%, so the price per actual cubic meter of wood is 25% less than the numbers quoted in this link.
An example of Costa Rica pricing for teak logs 2.2 to 12 m long, 100-109 cm in girth (equivalent to 32-35 cm in diameter) is
$355/m3 for standing trees.
$372/m3 for logs cut but not loaded into containers.
$390/m3 for logs loaded into containers.
$455/m3 for logs FOB in an international port, such as Limon.
The price/m3 for smaller logs is much less. For example, the quoted price for logs 50-59 cm in girth is $210/m3 for logs loaded into containers.

(Slightly) OT AYSI.PK up 106%. This company moved to the pinks a few months ago - no press releases for some time until this morning, showing very good results.
AYSI makes wear plating, used on heavy equipment primarily for the mining industry.

I haven't deleted any of your posts. It turns out both of your posts were deleted by IH Admin for being off topic. Probably someone reported at TOS violation, and the IH Admid agreed.

Some thoughts for new visitors to this board:
First, I would suggest you read the Ibox - the introduction to the board, which is located on top of the posts.
Second, I suggest you read through posts ~ 50 to ~ 300. These posts involve discussions between Steve Brunner (the owner of TATF) and TATF tree owners, and shed light on many of the issues and disagreements associated with purchasing trees from TATF and similar organizations.

Anyone else notice the size of the chokes?
One of the chokes was 22/64 inches, and the other was 26/64 inches. It seems to me that most companies use chokes 50-100% larger than the ones MMT used for these tests.
Would the flow rates be higher with larger chokes?
Thanks,

AYSI.PK +0.07 to 0.85. This company is not a miner, but provides wear plating on heavy equipment in the mining industry. The share price dropped significantly when the company decided to move from the Nasdaq to the pinks. It's been recovering nicely since then.

I haven't received any news on my trees.
You may want to asks Vanessa specifically how the new woodworking equipment will benefit tree owners. As things stand today, TATF has no obligation to add value to wood from tree owners' trees. It's entirely possible that they will only add value to the wood owned by favored insiders.

Thanks - actually life is not bad at all. :)
I picked up several hundred thousand shares at $0.018, in July of this year So far, I've sold half (1/4 at $0.06 and 1/4 at $0.105).
Makes me feel like a real big shot to buy and sell shares in 100K lots!
The question on LBSR is what will drive the SP higher. There are 3 things that I can think of:
1) Drill results - as I mentioned in my previous post, these are probably years away.
2) A financing and/or JV deal. This just happened. Another one is unlikely soon, IMO.
3) Speculators and momentum players rushing to get on board. I think this has already happened, and is one reason for the dramatic rise in the SP. Absent any fundamental news, these types will soon abandon the stock, and go elsewhere. Who knows how long the ride will last?
I'm glad to have made a nice profit on LBSR, and certainly wouldn't complain if it goes up further, but my guess is that it will roll over fairly soon.
A1
Before we get too carried away...
According to Yahoo finance, LBSR has one, yes one, full time employee, the CEO, James Briscoe.
Prior to the deal with NAK, LBSR had essentially no cash and was $3 million in debt. The NAK deal was for a cash payment of $1 million and $3 million in convertible debt, or $4 million in total. Of this, $3 million was used to pay existing creditors, leaving $1 million.
A paragraph from the press release outlining the deal between NAK and LBSR:
"As part of the transaction noted above, subject to negotiating and signing a definitive earn-in option and joint venture agreement, Northern Dynasty can earn a 60% interest in the Company’s Big Chunk and Bonanza Hills projects in Alaska by spending $10,000,000 on those properties over six years. The borrowings from Northern Dynasty may be applied as part of Northern Dynasty’s earn-in requirements"
So, LBSR has very limited resources to do further exploration on its properties, and NAK has several years in which to do exploration. Now that it has rights to Big Chunk, NAK may choose to focus on developing its Pebble project in the next few years, rather than on Big Chunk.
LBSR's properties look very interesting, but it could be years before drill results are available.

'"Ab" is a pop-up ad for TATF. As such, he does not answer direct questions. Master of obfuscation, maestro of promotion, enemy of fact, he serves to help keep the scheme going -- outside the boundary of U.S. law and the SEC. He does this even on this forum of disillusioned former believers. He pops-up whenever he thinks his words will deflect the latest revelation.'
